  1. I had a Washburn guitar that looked kinda PRSish but had that same weird pointy headstock on it. What were their designers thinking of. The headstock got broken off though when it fell over so be careful.

  2. I totally agree that so called acoustic basses are a waste of space, unless you have to have that full bodied look. You may be better off looking for a solid bodied bass with a piezo bridge like the Fishman. Fender Japan made the HMT with an f hole and a piezo bridge, some Yamaha TRBs also have them as does the Spector Spectorcore which I use. Can get a pretty good "acoustic" sound from it.

it's not like Gibson are going out of their way to advertise or promote the new EB Bass. Although a couple of people are sat with it, it's not mentioned in the Gibson USA 2017 New Model Year video.

[/quote]Says it all really, a bit embarrassed to have it in their line up. However reading through this thread it does begin to sound like we're all suffering from a bad case of nostalgia.

  4. Thanks Basvarken. Interesting info, Korea and Czech Republic seems a good combination. My 2 Spectors are one from Korea and one from the Czech Republic and both are cracking good basses, but cost a lot more than the BaCH.

    Congrats.
Hope you can get the bridge right. That could be a bit tricky.

Here's my long scale BaCH semi acoustic

I was torn between that gorgeous red and the natural, you obviously like these basses. How do find the balance between the front and rear pickups on the long scale? Presumably where you changed them to the Gibsons they balance well.

Do prefer playing the short or the long scale and why both?

And this is my short scale semi acoustic (with Gibson lo-z pickups)

  6. Bridge was fitted by a local guitar maker I know who usually specialises in acoustics. However he did a cracking job, for a very reasonable price, it's up and working fine strung with Chrome flats. Hope to post some new pictures shortly. Interestingly the "mud bicker" type pickup isn't muddy, has a nice clear resonance and a reasonable range of tones , better than I expected.

  7. Ric Sanders, the fiddle player in Fairport Comvention, pulls one out to play when Dave Pegg switches to mandolin. Sounds ok but as a fiddle player he's probably used to fingering notes close together.

  8. If you've got a reasonable acoustic already, why not just by a quality piezo pickup and install it. L.R.Baggs are brilliant, they make an alternative to the piezo that is actually a microphone which sticks under the top and does require removing the bridge saddle. It has a volume control that fits neatly on the edge of the sound hole. All you need to do is drill a hope where the rear strap button fits and insert the jack. Called the Lyric it's excellent. I have one in my Taylor acoustic.
