1. Price dropped! Now saving you circa £110 on new price for a cab that's basically new! Whoop Whoop.
 2. Yeah I've definitely heard JPJ rocking the classic p-bass motown vibe. Now I'm thinking about Flea and I can't actually name a specific tune... he's definitely rocked a lot of warm & old school tones in his time though.
 3. Hey everybody... - I'm looking into new amp heads that have that sweet old school p-bass funky / gritty motown vibe that we all know and love... John Paul Jones played with that tone a fair amount, so does Flea...... but you all know what I'm talking about anyway.... I've been advised that the RH450 is 1) Powerful 2) Old-School vibey 3) generally aweosme. BUT I've also seen on these boards somebody selling one because it was too hi-fi / modern sounding and not old-school enough.... Hit me!
 4.
The one cab I shouldn't have sold. Really great piece of kit.
I think reading some of your posts helped my decision to buy it in the first place! Sad to see it go... I might buy another in future if my circumstances change...
 5. EDIT* Price dropped to £645 including delivery to anywhere in the UK (via TNT Courier). or £600 if you collect. I'm looking for a swift and easy sale as I'm really broke at the moment. Please send me a PM if you're interested (or go straight to the 'Bay auction I've set up and get it there). You can read all of the details on the 'bay but essentially you're looking at a mint condition cab, you won't find a better quality second hand HS410 anywhere, it's barely broken in. Good luck everybody
 6.
I'm going to do my best to ignore all of what you just said I don't think I'm after anything with a tweeter as I prefer my aggressive / overdriven sounds to still have a kind of warmth to them / not much treble. Also, my HS410 is pretty freaking immense but I'm looking for extra portability (it's no problem in and out of my car boot & the casters are great but I'm thinking more about chucking things in a cab, or possible braving it on the tube!)
- obviously if I start playing large gigs and / or get a roadie, I'll be getting a nice SVT with a Berg NV or full on Ampeg fridge! XD
 7.
I have two DB212s, and despite the fact the can be a bugger to move around (apart from the casters) they sound HUUUUUGE. You can go from old fat motown thump to a more aggressive articulate tone. Very nice tweeters. I never used 12s until I heard the Aguilars and now I wouldnt be without a 12 cab of some kind.
I'm going to do my best to ignore all of what you just said I don't think I'm after anything with a tweeter as I prefer my aggressive / overdriven sounds to still have a kind of warmth to them / not much treble. 8.
+1 Aguilars will be great as well.
Haven't tried flats yet, I know that's an obvious move.. I'm considering just letting my rounds get uber old / cruddy. Not from experience, but I've read that if you want to dig in you don't really get a lot of grind from a flat in the same way as you do from a round. But I guess you can't have it every way. The DB112's look the nuts and I know a bassist who uses a 212 and loves it....
 9.
I currently use a Bergantino AE112 cab and in the past used Aguilar GS112 cabs both can get the sound you want. The Aguilar DB112's are supposed to be very good as well, but I think you will need 2 cabs to get any sort of band volume. If you're after a lightweight and loud 115 then the Barefaced Compact must come pretty high on your "listen to" list.
Well, the Barefaced Compact is 100% on my list! - I'm surprised what little reading I can find on this cab considering the overwhelmingly positive response from the small percentage of testimonials that I have discovered scattered hither and thither. I'd definitely like to try one out, or maybe just say "screw it" and buy one.
 10.
The Compact is now on hold for Etienne. The Shuttle (+gig bag, extra tube, speakon cable) is still available!
is there any way you could weigh the compact, or do you know how much it weighs already? - also, pleas PM me if it doesn't go to the other guy
 11.
I would guess that your problem is with the amp not the cab. I've tried a Shuttle 6 and felt it lacked a lot in the bass tone dept! In my opinion, Markbass is better, deeper and fatter and so is GK. If you've got the cash, a Mesa Boogie is supposed to pair really well with the HS410. I've put an Ampeg SVT3 PRO through modern cabs (Epifani and Bergantino) and got a pretty good, fat, "vintage" tone.
Yeah I almost bought an SVT a couple of years ago but I'm currently digging the idea of being able to get on a tube or jump in a taxi with my rig. - would a Catalinbread SFT / Tech-21 VT pedal combined with the inherently less-responsive, less trebly 1x15" not get me most of the way there but still have portability? I accidentally went crazy on the guitar amp front too and got a 50w head and 2 x 12 cab which is one of the loudest things I've ever freaking played which now makes me thing I should get a 1x12 18w combo which will still be plenty loud at London club gigs, loud enough for bigger gigs when I'll be mic'd up and also carries in 1 hand!
 12. Hey everybody, I'm using the HS410 with a Shuttle 6 which is a great sounding rig but it's very hi-fi, percussive, clear - very versatile and an amazing rig for slap / modern tones. The problem is that 90% of the time I prefer old-school funk / rock tones a la John Paul Jones / Flea, the ability to RAWK but have a warm / vintage vibe going on too. - I always play with the horn / tweeter dialled back completely but the actual 10" cones are....almost too good at representing sound lol - I'm also starting to think more about portability / modularity... anybody got recommendations within the Berg lineup e.g. 2 x ex112er? - or should I maybe start off with some kinda 1 x 15? The tone search continues! (Obviously this search means that some lucky bugger is going to get my HS410!)

 14. If you get desperate / don't find a buyer I'd take this baby off your hands if you skim the top of the price by a tenner... xx
 15.
Shame I was on my holiadys or I would have been there
these still around?
 16.
MB1. An EYEBANEZ?...Sorry!...I'll get me coat!
I do actually have an Ibanez (no idea of the vintage or model but I think it's a late 80's / early 90's)... love it.
 17. eBay Link: Rickenbacker 4003 MINT CONDITION (only 5 weeks old) Auction Ends Sunday 7th September Thanks The other woman in my life is a Clover. I so don't want to do this.... I've got a weird relationship with my 4003, I was absolutely drooling myself at my last band practice over the tones coming out of this thing.... When I get a good disposable income again I'm gonna track down another one... preferably another 2008....preferably the exact same bass if I can!
 18. Sold for £1299 on eBay I'm reluctantly selling my beautiful 6 week old 4003 because I've fallen for another bass and don't have the cash for two. The name in the pictures is my eBay ID so feel free to check my feedback etc. It's in exactly the same condition I purchased it in i.e. flawless, 100% new, straight from the factory goodness. Naturally, it includes the Ric fitted hardcase + manual + polishing cloth etc. I'll post this bass anywhere in the world (at the buyers expense), alternatively, it can be collected from my place near J4 of the M25 or I'll be happy to meet somewhere in London or drive partway to meet somebody in the surrounding counties - Kent / Essex / Surrey etc. Due to how new the bass is, it's perfect condition, and how tough it was for me to find a shop that had one, my asking price is £1250 here on basschat. I'm probably going to put it on eBay (unless I get interest here fairly quickly) - starting at £1100 with a "buy it now" of £1300. The pictures were taken indoors, if you're interested but you want better lit pics, I'll either set up my strobe or take it outside and get some better lit shots. Of course, any questions, please feel free to ask. Thanks for looking, Leo Edit: "sold for £1299 on eBay"
 19.
The Shuttle 6.0 and the LMII are not really the same - the MarkBass R500 is most like the Shuttle 6.0. Having the two knobs on the Shuttle gives you great control over the valve.
Yeah I like the ability to grit things up or smooth them out on the Shuttle.... I'm reading throught the 35 page LMII vs Shuttle 6.0 Thread at the mo and I'm reading a lot of comments that say things which suggest LMII = modern / sterile, Shuttle = Vintage / Warm. This is odd as the dealer I was speaking with was saying the exact opposite and he seems to know his stuff... and yeah I realise this is the downside of not being able to try things out! I might ask if I can buy both and send one back say within 14 days for a full refund....hmmm doubtful in this country but you never know!
 20.
Sorry mate but I for one am not going to tell you what to buy. I am going to tell you to make the effort to listen to the cabs you are interested in and buy the one you like best.
That's perfectly reasonable, although I assure you I'm not the kind of person to flame somebody for such an offence if I've not had the opportunity to try something out myself. I've spent a bit of time on the phone to a dealer who seems to absolutely love the AE410 which I was kinda leaning towards anyway.... although he put a seed in my head: Now I'm stuck choosing between the Shuttle 6.0 and the MarkBass LMII!!! Bugger....
 21. Ok I'm taking one of the list (due to the rated power of the ul310), I'm now looking at: Epifani UL310 (will cost me £796) Berg AE410 (£890 with a fitted cover) GB Neox 212T (£630 i think) Even though the 410 is hardly a beast to lug around, it would obviously be awesome if I could have just as much power / full range / tone from the little neox 212 but lacking the time to try them both out I need you guys! - or if you think the epi will pair best (especially to get that nice low end + some warmth), then that's cool too...
 22.
The amount of air a speaker can move is basically the speaker area (Sd) multiplied by the max speaker excursion (Xmax), and is referred to as Vd (volume displacement). The reason I went for 15" speakers in my designs is that suitable higher Xmax speakers are available - one fullrange 15" can move as much air as two 12"s or three 10"s (top quality ones that is), whilst my dedicated woofer 15" (that needs an additional midrange speaker for clarity) can move almost twice as much air as that! If you don't have much power then you need to maximise the sensitivity of your speakers - but with the power of the most modern bass amps you can drive most cabs to full volume (which is limited by how far the speakers can move). Don't simplify things to 10"s vs 12"s vs 15"s - the nominal diameter of a speaker is almost its least important parameter! Alex
Thanks for a very informative post! Hmm... Ideally I need to have my cab delivered on 7th August, and I'm away between saturday 2nd and wenesday 6th so I pretty much need to make my choice this week and get an order in! Please keep the advice flowing!
 23.
The Bass Gallery in Camden. Alex
Just a thought as to volume, I'm not really up on the phsyics of the whole thing but would a 4x10 be pushing the most air? or is a 2x12 going to push out everything the shuttle has to offer anyway?
