4. Its far from the most expensive, best looking, best conditioned, greatest sounding bass to grace these pages, but it is MY bass and i love it! Made in the late 90's in a small but modern factory in Korea, this is from a prototype range Aria released in limited numbers sporting passive/active electronics, selectable humbucker, and this particular instrument shows off a shiny clear-red finish. Not much is known about this very rare import but it is believed it was crafted by Buddhist Monks, exiled from their native land because of unresolveable musical differences. We can also presume Michael Knight and Stringfellow Hawke had something to do with the design due to its all-round kick-ass-ness. Purchased on ebay and i believe formally owned by a member of this forum, straight out the box i was well chuffed with it. Described as "very good for secondhand" i expected a little tattiness, a scratch here or there, but i was p[leasantly surprised. It has surpassed all expectations. I feel that the action is a little high, and to begin with there was no fret buzz whatsoever and it played well, but since saturday im getting some pretty crazy fret buzz on the E-string, and i still feel i'd be more comfortable playing with a lower action. Remember tho this is the first bass i've owned, played, and really taken much detailed notice of so maybe this is the average kind of string height people use, i've tried to take some pics to show the string height, let me know what you think? I know this isnt the place but the pics will be here. Comment & Criticise away... (Im sure you can see i am a professional photographer and i am available for weddings, christenings, graduatuons, and those other really important cant miss moments) edit: Ive just seen how truly sh*t these pics are. That'll teach me for uploading before ive seen them, i'll strive to do some actually worth looking at tomorrow, sorry guys.
 5. Glad it went well, i don't think i'd be soo easy to persuade to get involved in the vocals.
 6. After a combined practice time of not that long find myself struggling with what should be fairly easy stuff i would have thought. I checked out the beginners lessons that have been sticky-ed in the technique forum and can play the first lesson (U2) with fairly good timing, but my left hand speed is shocking going up and down the neck from the 7th fret to the 3rd, then back to the 10th. Ive also noticed that i have practically no dexterity in my fingers whatsoever, will this get better? Its a big worry. I also thought it would be nice to learn a bass line i like so i started learning No Easy Way Out (the tune from rocky, can remember who the original is by but Bullet For My Valentine recently covered it). Im really having trouble with my speed up and down the neck. And now im getting a fret buzz that i didnt have yesterday, why would that be? I also have a feeling the action is quite high to what maybe the majority would have it set-up. Will anyone be able to give some advice if i get some pics up tomorrow? And to top it all i forgot to mention im a lefty learning right. I thought this might be more advantageous in the future when it comes to be able to pick up anyones bass in the future and jam rather than carrying mine around with me everywhere, and as ive never played guitar or bass before my body shouldnt know any different right? Although i did air-guitar left handed.
 7. A week ago i would have bitten your arm off for this... If your still looking to offload it in 2 weeks time look me up.
 8. Right just got in from my extended london jaunt, i'll get some pics up tomorrow morn for those that want to to oogle over. Im gonna take a look at all your suggestions, and choose something that im gonna enjoy learning. And as for the books, im gonna see how much their going for and where i can pick 'em up from. I nearl ypicked up a copy of the idiots guide to bass but thought it would be best to hear from you guys befor espending my hard earned on something that could be useless... Watch this space!
 9. Its just got here, and im a little excited to get home now... This will be the first time ive picked up a bass and pissed the neighbopurs off, ever! Im out all night in Canning Town watching a mates band so im not gonna get to play till tomorrow. Im also relying almost solely on StudyBass & a few downloaded video's to teach me the basics. Anything i should be aiming to be capable of doing within the 1st few hours/first few days?
 10. Soo ladies... Whats ya poison?
 11.
Have you considered trying this? http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=monkey+face
Smooth...
 12.
If your legs are really up to your ears then surely you already... [gets coat]
Or does she....? Got room in that coat for 2?
 13.
Hmph.... fine.. *skulks off and swears never to post full length photos anywhere ever again...*
Im sure your legs, arse, and ears are always welcome on the pages. Oh dear, this thread is wildly off topic. Anyway, i was wondering wether you get noticeably more sustain with those big Traben bridges like you have on your OLP? Anyone know if you can get the bridges seperately? Ive tried a search in the past to no avail.
 14.
Well sorry to disappoint but I'm fairly sure most of you guys are going to be rivalling me on the boobage front, but I make up for it by being 5 ft 9 and having legs up to my ears :brow:
You should seek circus work!
 15. That is sexy as hell... and I didnt even know a bass could be sexy.
 16.
Well, us chaps seem to be hijacking the ladies thread here. What are we like?
I was under the impression this was an equal rights forum? Who said boobage? Ive got all the boobs a man (or girl) could ever need!
 17.
Long discussion about it here, including the buy in bulk idea.
It was that thread that gave me the inspiration to email Kurt in the first place. Only thing that worries me is the complete lack of a warranty if i get one of the basses with a shoddy finish. He replaces everything he sells in the USA quibble free.
 18.
Jesus - you had to ask, didn't you?
Ive got my eyes on a Jaguar copy, which means i'll probably order a Precision.
 19. Im looking to order an SX from Rondo the weekend after next if you're still intending on going ahead? I have a mate living in Balham (South London) who wants to order a guitar from them at the same time aswell. Let me know... Im still eager to hear back from safetygav on UK based SX's tho if they work out financially better.
 20.
Probably right though... he he he he!!! - Though I am confident in my masculinity that I can admit, I really don't play games/consoles at all and therefore are rather useless at them. Would rather use my PC stacked to the hilt with music software ;o) Don't even get me started on football heh heh heh!
I havnt been into games for a few years now (except football manager), but i slammed a copy of Gran Turismo 4 in my PS2 the other day and ive been playing it since. What a game!
 21.
Maybe we should make it that you have to turn up looking like your avatar. I'm onto a winner there ( ), but I'd like to see you keep a small yellow bird on your head all day! EDIT: is it a duckling?
I pity the fool that tries to out dress me!
 22. Sounds good to me, another date in my calendar. I used to live 10mins from Guildford si it'll be nice n' nostalgic. If theres a Corvette $$, a Bongo, and a Traben present i'll be well chuffed!
