  1. Thinking of getting a 5string for the first time. Lindo PDB5 looks good and reasonable. Any comments please?

I agree; it is less the low notes and more about reduced hand movement up and down the fretboard. Make sure it is a fiver with a good B and a good quality string.

  2. Newly Discovered Band Of The Day - The Main Squeeze.  Fuzzy, funky goodness 🤙

  3. Anyone used the Maruszcsyk own brand flats at all?  Looking for thump (not modern Chromes type twang) but NO dead E

I have a set of Picato flats and they are a lot more thumpy than Chromes. I have tried both on the same bass (5-er), and the Picato's are a lot more 'old skool'. British too!!

  4. My teeny, ultra lightweight, Fender rumble 100 V3, managed a loud(ish) blues gig in a crowded bar last night. I was very impressed. It was up against drums, keys and a guitarist going through a 50w Sound City head. I was told, by another bassist in the audience, that it had a nice deep low end as well (and the volume wasn't even maxed out).

    I'm very impressed.

Thanks for the info gjones! I guess you didn't depress any of the 'effect' buttons (vintage etc) and apart form the bass left the knobs pretty much at 12 o'clock? Let me know and I will give it a try this week at rehearsal instead of my normal 800W rig! Thanks!

I recently bought a Rumble 100 V3 for home practice, and I am often sitting there playing, with the volume knob turned almost to zero, wondering if it could stand up against our guitar, drums and keys in the blues band. You have given me a ray of hope and I think I will give it a go!
