4.
MarkBass Jeff Berlin of any interest?
Thanks for the offer but it's not what I'm looking for. Thanks
5. Now Sold. Hi, up for sale is my beautiful 2009 3TS American Standard Fender Jazz. It is in amazing as new condition, not a single blemish. In the photos it's sporting a black pick guard, it also comes with the original tort guard. This bass has never been gigged, it's had home use only. Even the case is as new. The bass sounds & plays fantastic, as you would expect. The only reason I am parting with it, is, I have recently aquired a USA 62 reissue, also in 3TS, they're virtually twins! So this beauty is up for grabs. I would be interested in taking a Markbass TTE 500, a Mesa Walkabout head or an Ampeg PF500 in a trade. If you want any more photos or have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch. I would be happy to courier the bass at buyers expense. You can collect from my home, or if not too far, I'd be willing to meet half way. Cheers & thanks for looking!!

9. Tricky (Rich) bought my Custom 72 Jazz from me. Super fast payer & great comms, deal could not have gone smoother. All the best Rich, enjoy the bass!
10. Hey Truckstop, you're so right. If you want balls, you need valves! Ha ha , I like it........
11. Well thanks guys, some great info there. Yeah I think I'll try a pf500 or pf800 if I can get one and see how I get on with it. For the price you can buy a used pf500 on here, I'll try it, if I don't like it I can just pass it on. I must say though Steve I'm now very intrigued by the Mesa and if one comes along I may have to buy it. Thanks again chaps, all the best!
12. Yeah I play a Ric & a Jazz both with flatwounds. That's given me something else to think about Steve. I would go for the head as I gig with two 2x10's stacked vertically. Can really hear yourself on stage instead of all of your sound hitting the back of your legs! Hmmmmm, now what.......
13. Hey, thanks guys. Yeah Steve, I'm aware of the Mesa Walkabout, looks really good. I'm not after any OD, just a big warm valve tone with some balls! Is the Mesa all about the OD, or does it do clean very well? There's a vid of Bobby Vega on youtube playing through an old flip top, OMG, that's tone heaven!
14. Ive been using a Markbass LM11 for the last few years and it's been great, I love it. To the point I've taken no notice of new amps on the market at all. I was recently at a friends, playing through his big ol' tube Ampeg SVT and loved the big ballsy sound. I said I wish they made a little amp like my LM11 with that tone. With a smile on his face he picked up his ipad and showed me the pf500, where you been the last few years he asks? Anyways I've since read reports of reliability issues with the 500 but the 800 seems to be ok. I'm just concerned that the 800 may be too loud? Secondly, can it really replicate that wonderful warmth of a big ol' valve amp.I read somewhere it had a much smoother warmer tone than the Markbass, which would be great. I know there's plenty of clips on youtube, but through crappy computer speakers you can't tell. There's no decent music stores within 70 miles of me, so can't really try one out. Any one had a LM11 and now using a PF500/800. Cheers, Mario.
15. Hi all, after much deliberation, I have decided to put up my Custom build 72 Jazz for sale. Spec. Allparts rosewood & maple neck, with pearl blocks and binding. 4 bolt neck plate with truss rod adjustment at the heel. Allparts alder Jazz body in black. Wizard 64 Jazz pickups. CTS pots, switchcraft jack, vintage type cloth covered wiring harness. Badass brige, original, not big & bulky like the 2 or 3, much neater but still very substantial. It's sporting a red tort guard, also comes with a brown tort guard and chrome pickup cover. Tuners are just a 70's style tuner, no big name, but do the job perfectly. ABS hard case. The bass was built about 5 years ago. I sourced the best components possible for the build and it payed off. The final set up and the electrics were done by no other than Overwater basses here in Carlisle. This bass looks, sounds, and plays like a dream, as you can imagine. It's strung with Labella flats and has some major fat Jazz tone. It has done a few gigs but mainly home use (I gig with a Ric), it's in very, very good condition, with no noticeable marks, dings, or imperfections. I have just aquired in a trade, a USA standard Jazz, which I'm going to play for a while. Truth is though, the 72 is a better quality and better sounding bass, but I never really felt at home with the rosewood & pearl block neck, although a beautiful neck, it just felt a bit flashy for me, I like things simpler. All in all, a truly great 70's style Jazz for not a lot of money. If you would like to come and try it out, you are more than welcome. The only trade I may be interested in, would be an Olympic White Precision with rosewood board USA or Japanese. Thanks and a happy new year!
16. Hi mate, what year was it built? Does it come with the Fender case? Will you post it? Cheers, Mario.
17. That sounds great Sean, can't wait to get some ordered!
18. I've used these straps now for years, after seeing Jimmy Page use them with his Les Paul. The interwoven leather links act like suspension and takes all the pain out of heavy basses. There are plenty of suspension straps on the market, but let's be honest they look naff. These look cool and really work. They're fully length adjustable, by adding or removing links. Try one you'll love em, I've got 3 and would never use anything else now! http://www.stones-music.co.uk/stones_straps
19.
Hot Rod did some '74s for me. Old Wizard spec and are fabulous, higher output than '64s, less dark than '84s
That sounds like what I'm after. I've sent them an email, just waiting on them getting back to me.
20. Thanks for your input guys. Yeah I think I might ask hot rod to custom wind me something in between the 64's and the 84's as you suggest Tony. I've been reading some great reviews on here, where Andy at Wizard, custom wound just that, and seems that his customers were over the moon with them. Anyone bought any pickups from hot rod?
21. I have just acquired a 2009 USA Jazz and to be honest I'm not overly impressed with the sound. It plays amazing but is just lacking something in the sound department, a bit 2 dimensional and flat. I have another Jazz with Wizard 64's in it which sounds better all together, more depth and 3 dimensional if that make sense. It does have CTS pots, but would that make such a difference? Anyhow I'm gonna swap out the pups in the USA, my dilemma is with what? I have a Guitar with a pair of Bareknuckle p90's in it, and it's the best sounding SG I've ever heard, but I've never heard their Jazz pups. The Wizard 64's in my other Jazz are great but would still like some thing fatter with more tonal depth more 3D. I keep coming back to this 3D thing, I don't know any other way to describe it. If anyone has any idea of what I'm on about and has any pickup suggestions for my flat sounding Jazz, I'm all ears!! Merry Crimbo, Mario.
