1. Absolute are based down the road from me when Im at home in Dorset and theyre alright. I had a few probs with Warwick prices...they upped the price of a Corvette $$ by £200 in a week and it hasnt come back down...but this deal is awesome, you cant really moan about that price!
2. Cheers S.P I knew this anyway, but thanks all the same
3. Just got a new battery, all sorted, it works great (with a brighter sound than before)! Thanks for all the advice guys, muchly appreciated
4.
Battery would be my first guess too, but... does the bass work with your Trace combo?
Unfortunately, as Im at Uni, I dont have my Trace here (damn this teeny room and polite housemates who would tell me to turn it down...) otherwise Id try it straight away! Ill go and get another battery - if anyone has any other suggestions theyd be welcome
5. Blimey that was quick! Cheers mate Does it make any difference that the setup was working fine when I played yesterday? Can it literally just go overnight or would I notice a drop off?
6. Hi guys, Just tried to play my Ibby EDB400 through my Marshall MB30 Practice Amp - they usually go fine, no problems ever. However, I just turned the amp on to play through, and theres no sound. If I play the strings, it just sounds unplugged. Ive checked the volume levels on the bass and the amp and still no sound . BUT. When I unplug the bass and put the jack lead against my arm, or another metallic surface, I get feedback, which varies with volume from the amp. So Im guessing it would be the bass. Ive unscrewed the backplate and there are no loose wires or anything. The only thing I can think of is that the 9v battery is dead. Would that cause the problem of no sound output??? Sorry to be a bit of a n00b, was just wondering if anyone can give me a few pointers Thanks in advance Matt
7. Cheers for the info Johnny - shame it wasnt as good as I was hoping...then again, what I was hoping for was the impossibility of it being AMAZINGLY OLD and STUPIDLY CHEAP...
8. Deaver, could you keep us posted on this one as youve emailed the guy? Id love to know what the serial no. is and if its a vintage bargain Cheeers
9.
My saga with Peavey ended months ago and all I got back was a lousy refund from the place I bought it, no compo no replacement bass cos the ones they sent down were garbage. So all in all I got buggered about by Peavey and it looks like Andrenochrome is just starting the process with f***ing Peavey, all I can say is GOOD LUCK cos he'll need it they really do suck as a company!!!
Damn Sy, Peavey sound like a crock of cr*p . Ive never been impressed with their stuff anyway - just another reason not to buy from them in the future!
10. Lmao Im too far away from it, and I dont think I could summon up the reddies... I was just a bit curious ! Looks nice though, but Id prefer a maple board tbh
11. Hi guys Just saw this on Gumtree, a really cheeeeap Jazz with little information: http://www.gumtree.com/london/91/30458191.html Was just wondering if anyone could work out the age of the bass (through the inlays, fender logo, truss rod, any other logos etc), as its rather inexpensive (and potentially a bargain if its an original vintage) As I dont have much knowledge of Jazz's, I thought I would rack more knowledgeable people's brains here Thanks in advance guys! Matt
12. Thats one beautiful bass dude, I love the curves, especially where the neck joins the body, very sexy
13. Blimey Josh, thats a sweet SSII...and that 535 is gorgeous as well, what wood top has it got? Spalted something...? (at a guess) Maple? G'ah...I knew it... Bad GAS
14.
Kenney just can't justify Dirk, he is technically gifted, he can sing, compose, play competently on different instruments, but, to me, he dosen't embody the role of the bassist in Incubus, Dirk was the key to that sound which made you move, Redefine for example, it just makes move when it comes to the break down, it's a long buried incident, but many fans will always bring up the Dirk + Incubus = True Incubus until their dying day.
I think youre right Josh. Dirk - I think - makes that original 'bus sound and although Kenney is now the bassist, Incubus is a different band now. Not better, or worse - just different !
You need to play some really dirty 70's funk music with a flute part as well...
Does Focus count? lol Its kinda funky...(ish - well, not really)
You seedy bastard, I like it. I followed the link to the 'Wick page, BIG mistake. I always wanted a Thumb, after seeing Cass Lewis and Mr Bruce but seeing that lefty Buzzard in Sparkling Black, wow. But "How Much?" At least they don't put an upcharge for building it in left hand.
Once you start looking at the custom shop gallery, your life will take on a whole new meaning and you feel like you have to own every single one...its baaaad
15. If Dirk came back, it would be awesome! Kenney is technically great...but hes great at EVERYTHING. He is literally a one man band: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=47fzpzNOcw0 The 'wicks are so incredible - and to think I was going to fork out more moolah on a Jazz...I dont think they suit my music style - IMO, 'wicks are all about the funk; espesh the Streamers I bet your SSII sounds gorgeous - might have to add it to the GAS list ! I'm orf to dream bout that growl - I've got a busy day lying in tomoz...(its wicked being a student)
16.
Man, enjoy that bass she looks amazing, and please say you have a good noodle along to some early Jamiroquai with her?
Aaaaah man, she loves the 'quai I was having a great sesh earlier Out of interest, why Jamiroquai? Early Incubus is frocken awesome too - especially Battlestar Scralatchtica and You Will Be A Hot Dancer Katunich = Leg-end Funk FTW!
17. Aaaaaaaah man, in black she looks hot - I used a whole box...I still prefer that natural look though That flamed figuring...phwoar... She needs a good waxing every now and again - shes always so dirty... She's not getting away, she's firmy tied down dude and I give her a good slapping to keep her in check every so often
18. Damn straight mate, She's a disgusting dirty growler... :brow:
19. Hey guys Its taken me about a week ( ) but I've finally got round to taking some (rather crappy) photos of my beautiful latest aquisition I will take some more outside when the weather brightens up but as that may not happen until 2010, these will have to do for now .
20. Heya Have you got any photos?! Might help it to sell quicker !
21. Awesome Doug, Thank you for your views, its actually quite refreshing to hear a US opinion first hand instead of spurious hearsay from the news etc , so thanks!
22. I like being the strange bassist. But I dont need a bass to be strange
23.
Generally any money you spend on upgrades mean nothing when it comes to selling. Some upgrades can even be considered as the opposite, thus lowering it's value from original condition.
Yeah, I thought that might be the case and it may lower the value and/or make it worse! thanks for the input
