Some great singers here. For me, two standouts.
Jessie J - such phenomenal control and variety.
And Hannah Reid, agree @Wilco. Such an emotive tone.
And an honourable mention to Aimee Mann. So cool. Bassist too 😀.

Maybe I should have been showing something like this!

Lockdown browsing has led me to some gems where pop artists have shown their stripped down skills and their true musical and songwriting talents have been allowed to shine. Admittedly, this is an 80s edition due to my age but all three of these mainstream pop stars had me seriously impressed even though already a fan.
So what other artists maybe wouldn't impress that much on record but have got serious talent when stripped down?

I enjoyed that a lot. Nice playing.

Sadly the last one. A View To A Kill. I always thought there was some plectrum palm-muting on this but no mention. Good discussion of the song though.

Well, tonight's was interesting. A Power Station track. Enjoyed this one.

Two drummers can be cool. Pretty sure Add (N) to X had two. Sometime in the late 90s I was going to a lot of gigs and they always seemed to be on the bill.
No live footage unfortunately to back up my memory.

Enjoyed that. Amusing start too 😊

Rio was good tonight. Obviously a killer bass line, one of the first I played when I took up bass, an inspiration. He's having fun too.

Derek Forbes did indeed play with Propoganda...
I bought a Vigier bass from Derek Forbes that he had apparently used with Propaganda and SM. I emailed Patrice Vigier to ask for more info on the bass. As I remember, his reply was brief and to-the-point, something about Derek making that bass sound great and I'm very disappointed that he sold it to you 🤣

I think this week's was better. He seems to he having fun and that looks like Bernard Edwards MM to me 👍. Girls on Film Night Version, what an awesome track that is.

This might be of interest during our lockdown days.

Very sad. The Stranglers were a major part of my musical upbringing and Dave's influence on their sound was never less than front-and-centre.

I think @kusee pee meant keys as in piano keys - i.e. having the keyboard laid out in front of you makes it easier to visualise note relationships given its linear orientation.
Indeed, sorry for any confusion. The keyboard made it look obvious. Transferring it to the bass was much harder. Hence I gave up and am in need of a refresh.

Very good use of your time. I need to do the same! I never understood modes until my Mum recently showed me on the piano. When you have the keys in front of you it makes total sense!

I'd forgotten an absolute cracker - Skunk Anansie at the Pinnacle Records sales conference, in the Bierkellar bar at the Coppid Beech Hotel, Bracknell. The album hadn't been released, and their label put them on for the Pinnacle's (distributor) sales staff, retail buyers, and us other lucky labels. I watched about a metre away from Skin in a crowded but tiny room. Amazing show.
I've played there many a time. Seeing a band like Skunk Anansie in that setting must have been awesome 👍

I upgraded from AI to Elements and all my older projects loaded exactly the same into the updated version.
Perfect, thank you. Looks like my present to myself needs to get bought 🙂

Of course, they will. You'll have just more of all with Cubase Pro compared to AI. The interface is a bit different too.
Sweet 👍. That's what I hoped.

After wanting to do some home recording for a while, I plumped for cubase AI as part of a recording bundle to get me started relatively cheaply. I'm very happy with what it does and now want to upgrade to get some better features, particularly the vocal pitch tools and more sounds. I'm thinking of getting Cubase Pro as it comes as a deal as an upgrade if I already have AI. My question is, if I just install it, will all my existing tracks just be usable in Pro and I can then edit them straight away or is it likely to be a more complicated transition?
Sorry for the novice question, it's been a rapid learning process so far!

What a band and a very influential guitarist. Great bass on many songs too. A real shame.

Babymetal supporting Chili Peppers at London O2 about three years ago. Blew them away for energy and musicianship.

I admit to not watching the whole 3 hours but that was cool 🤣. Who the hell is that?
