  1. I bought this wonderful 5 string bass a few years ago for a country band I was playing in.

Within the last year I have spent......

    New bridge £450

Roth and Junius soft case £250

    Pirastro Evah Pirazzi strings £400

Comes with a home made stand, an unknown bow and a K&K pickup.

    Collection from Torquay TQ13JG.

Hi mate, check out the last photo, it’s 12v centre positive. The guy who runs the company is also very responsive to enquiry’s about it if you need any help.

    I did notice the 12v.

Could you please let me know the power consumption. ( 500ma , 1 amp , or maybe 2 amp ?)  Many thanks.

  3. A hifi sounding amp usually would have very little colouration of it's own. It's a bit like plugging your bass directly into a mixer at a studio. This would gives an ideal platform to add colour via pedals or to have a very clean signal to accurately hear what your bass sounds like.

The GK amps you mentioned are clean but not accurate in their EQ points. With all EQ at the 12 O'clock position there is a very noticeable mid scoop to the sound. This gives an instant modern scooped sound with very little effort. Warwick Gnome amps are very similar with a scooped sound with all EQ at 12 o'clock.

Amps that I have personally used that are hifi sounding included....

GR bass .. neutral with all EQ at the 12 O'clock position.

Pj bass ... Neutral with the EQ at the 12 O'clock position.

  4. Afternoon..

I have a very playable and good looking Sire P10dx that I feel needs some tweaking or upgrades.

I'm very happy with how the bass feels and plays, I'm just not gelling with the sound.

I can get the sound from my Grbass Duel amp by boosting the bass with the deep button ( small boost at 40 and 130 hz ), cutting 450hz and boosting around 1k.

The onboard preamp just can't get that sound.

I'm thinking of changing the preamp to a Flex Core ( Mike Pope ) that can duplicate the settings on my amp.

I would like to duplicate the sound for gigs when I don't need an amp.

Has anyone changed the on board preamp on Sire Marcus Miller basses and had a good result.

Also while I'm in there might also change the pickups.... Again anyone done this

    Thanks in advance.
