1. I'd second Boys Keep Swinging. Theres a lot happening bass-wise, especially at the close.
2. I broke my left wrist last June when I took a header down a set of stairs whilst on holiday. Foreign hospital, operation, plates and pins - you get the picture. Thing is - I took up the bass as part of rehabilitation and physio. So for me an injury was a route into playing. I do sympathise with the OP about pains the next day though!
3. Hi All After all that fuss I recently paid the £20 contribution and now have 3 guitars for sale. On reflection that is value for money - as opposed to Ebay where I often feel that the post-sale fees can be a real sting in the tail. David
4. Hi Ebenezer I don't have scales but have seen details online stating 9 lbs and 10 lbs.
5. Price drop to £160. Stunning guitar. Light as a feather, slim neck. Fantastic amp that punches above it's weight - as you would expect from an Orange Crush. Stand not included. Would prefer collection - I'm in Glasgow - but I'd be willing to meet up at a reasonable distance.
6. Brand new in candy apple red. Looks stunning. Only taken out of the box to photograph. Stand not included. P&P Happy to arrange courier at buyer's expense. Alternatively you may arrange this yourself if preferred, or pick up from me. I'm in the north of Glasgow.
7. SOLD Price drop to £320. Recently serviced and restrung by Overwater. Lined fretless in fantastic condition. P&P Happy to arrange courier at buyer's expense. Alternatively you may arrange this yourself if preferred, or pick up from me. I'm in the north of Glasgow.
8. Hi Joined Scott Devine's SBL Academy after all. Seemed to offer a lot of bang for buck so I'll see how it goes. Thanks all for the feedback. David
9. Twincam Yep - happened upon it when I was searching earlier today. I phoned a local guitar shop for a quote and they said they'd de-fret it for £90 - which included a full set up. Thats twice the cost of the bass! As for ripping them out myself - I could google how to do it - but do you have any tips or pointers? Cheers, David
10. Thanks Chaypup - I'll look into short scale. Cheers, David
11. Popped in to see Jimmy Moon to get his thoughts on the bass. He was of the opinion that I got a cracking deal, it is a good guitar that would play well enough for my level, and that whatever I spent to get it refined would only be negating the bargain I got. I think his exact phrase was "I don't want to see your good deal going down the swanny by your paying for work that isn't entirely necessary!" He chased me out the shop and said to return when I had a real problem to fix. You'd think I'd be annoyed but it was actually refreshing to go into a shop/business and be told that the work wasn't required and I should keep my money in my pocket. I also saw these guitars going new for £400 last month from Kenny's Music in Glasgow. Sods law that they are all sold but it does make me think twice about paying for work when I could get a new, unmodified bass for that price. Christmas is coming, 2 young kids to cater for - I don't really have the luxury of putting money aside for the work as it would be in the region of £300 - and that is with a large chunk of goodwill from Overwater. I'm going to keep the bass 'as is'. I am starting to become less bothered by the raised neck piece at the body as I get to play the guitar more and enjoy its sound and feel. Have a good weekend folks. David

13. Hi Looking to get my 11 year old son a 3/4 electric bass as he hasn't taken to double bass. He went to lessons at school for 1 term and is keen to keep playing and he does like electric bass. What would you recommend I get him? Is it possible to get a 3/4 fretless? He would like to play fretless if at all possible. Not a big budget - and he will be taking it to school and back for music lessons so it will probably get chipped and knocked about a fair bit! Cheers, David
14. Bass is going back to Overwater after the New Year for some TLC. I'll post pics when I get it back. Should be sometime early February. Chris said he'd work on it for me himself. How chuffed am I! Speak soon - and thanks all for the tips and guidance. David
15. Right - I get it now. You are officially the Sherlock Holmes of the post my friend!
16. White Cloud Will do - and thanks for the tips and pointers throughout the post. I spoke to Jimmy Moon also. That way if Overwater is out of my league, or the distance presents an issue, I've got someone good closer to home. Still want to guitar to go back to it's maker though! Even if it means driving to and from Carlisle. Not too far from Glasgow in the greater scheme of things. Cheers, David
17. Big Stu Someones got photoshop I see. Nice! BetaFunk This is great - being able to trace the guitar back to its original owner, but why did you keep the box for all these years and sell the guitar?!?!?!?!? Also had Chris May reply to my email. I've to phone him tomorrow to talk through options. How cool is that! Talk through options with the man! Not sure what it will cost and whether I can afford it so I may have to sell my first born. As a parent I'd expect anyone reading this to be horrified at that. As bass players I'm sure you understand! I'll give you an update once I've phoned Mr. May. Hopefully I can get the work done. It would be awesome to have the guitar reset by Overwater. Almost like getting it new I'm sure. Thanks for the detective work folks. So glad I joined Basschat! Speak soon, David
18.
Read my post again and look at the serial number on the box in the photo.
Oh right. That's mine. How come you've got the box? David
