1. Afternoon all. So i have joined a Guitar Club in the town. There are 10 Acoustic Guitars and me with an Electric Bass and Amp. To be honest the teacher is OK and is a big help. He is a country & western fan. And he wants us to learn Folsom Prison Blues by Johnny Cash, for next Thursday when he comes back from his hols. He wrote all the Tabs/Notes for the Acoustic guys and the Bass Tabs/ Notes for me. And yes i have lost it, So can anyone tell me Tabs/Notes for this song. Must say can't stand country & western music but it's not his fault. Cheers. Bill.
2.
The first song I learned all the way through was Enter Sandman. No going wrong there.
Right will have a try at this. Thanks.
3. Thanks for all your reply's. It does not seem so complicated this Bass playing now. I will just keep plodding on with the practice. Cheers Bill.
4. Well i am getting to grips with "Playing" my Bass. I can now "Play" Boris The Spider, Well almost, but have keep my eye on where my fingers are on the Frets. Dead chuffed really. Going to try a couple of new songs now. Cheers Bill.
5. I suppose all you lot know about this site. http://www.bigbasstabs.com/ As a newbie i found it helpful.
6. Thanks again all. Bloody good forum this eh.
7. Hi Both. Thanks, I am sure i will get my old head around all this.
8. "Back In Black" By: AC/DC G|—————————————————9—7————————————————————————————————————————|| D|————0—0—0————————————9—7————————0—0—0———————————————————————|| A|——————————0—0—0——————————10———————————0—0—0—————————————————|| E|—0———————————————————————————0——————————————7—4—7—5—7—6—7—7—|| Hi All. A question from a brand new player. A bit lost here The above Tabs are I assume are, the 0 is Open Strings. The numbers i also assume are the fret numbers. But how far down the neck do you go. Sorry if it seems a stupid question. But can't get my head around this. Cheers. Bill.
9. Thank you. Dame Celia Molestrangler. Yes it is a nice place, but it is chucking down now.
10. Take a look at this site. Went to school with quite a few of the Carlisle guys. But then we just seen them as bands to dance to every Saturday & Sunday night. Went to most of the dance halls mentioned on this site. Think the only one one who really made it big at that time was of course Greg Ridley. Should stop looking at this site makes me feel really ancient. http://www.fenderstrat.co.uk/
11. Hi Mate. Yes it's been going on for 40 years now. Don't if you know this web site. http://www.lgcnews.com/ As you can see they still can't agree. The Greek side walked away from the table last week. I think Turkey will get really fed up soon and sort it out themselves. Cheers. Bill.
12. Hi all. Forgot to tell you that Deep Purple. Yes that Deep Purple played here in North Cyprus. On the 24th of May this year. But by the time we heard about it all the tickets were sold out. Bugger. Any way read all about it here. And it would seem they flew on a private charter plane direct in to Ercan Airport. We have to fly out and back in to North Cyprus from the UK via Istanbul. Nice one Deep Purple. Maybe they should start their own airline. 13. Nice Guy. Great Bass Player. RIP Jack.
14. Brilliant stories. C'mon there must be more. I'll go and practice some chords in the meantime. Bloody fingers sore now though.
15. Hi Mate. Born in Carlisle. Go back every year to visit kids and family.
16.
My toes still curl up when I think about it! So I'm not telling. On another occasion; we had a girl in the audience of a residency we did who fancied the drummer. She used to get up and dance on stage. Not very pretty but lively. One night she got carried away and got her tits out. Big. Nice. Then even more carried away and flashed at the drummer. . . displaying a perfect "meat and 2 veg"!! Apparently she/he was saving up for the rest of the change over!
17. Great Stories. Nothing to do with the subject, but i saw the Kinks live in our local cinema may years ago. Dave Davis walked over to Mick Avory and punched him really hard in the ear. We thought he was going to fall of his stool. But he just carried on playing as did Dave Davis. Then we seen Ray Davis glaring at his brother. And they carried on playing for a further 20 minutes. But i would have thought Mick would have a stinker of a headache though, a probably a cauliflower lug next day.
18. A blast from the past for me. They used to play at our local dances in the 60s. He would have been 67 now. I think he was the only Bass player from Cumberland (Cumbria) to make to the top. Remember those day's so well. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greg_Ridley http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_V.I.P.%27s
