Well. As ever, spent a fortune putting a bass together and realised the “chase” was the buzz and I don’t play nearly enough to need.

Also a P. Must be my 20th Precision.

I “want” and “Need” and then realise I just need to learn how to play.

Body, bridge, pickups, pickguard all MIJ 62 reissue from the 1990s.

Has swirl marks and dinks/knocks commensurate with 30 years.

    Some scratches on back.

Neck is MiM 70’s “reissue” precision neck, bound and blocks.

Came to me without a nut.

Fender Micarta nut bought - seems the binding gave when the original nut was removed; this is glued and set, but you can see about 12mm of disruption in the lacquer.

I was going to sand and refinish, but it could end up looking worse.

    Hipshot Lollipops.

    Fender pickup cover

Big Yamaha Japan strap buttons (proper job).

Plays ace, sounds ace - if you like P’s, which…I do and don’t 😂

wearing Ernie Ball slinky’s, will come with spare flats which have life left.

    No case or bag currently.

    Will ship if needed.

    anyhow, it’s here in Manchester.

    Happy to consider trade

I’m going to part this out in the next few days.

or - if the lack of case is the issue, I can do with a hardcase £650 collected or £670 shipped in UK.

    Andy

Whilst I take a different view to you on retail therapy I cannot accept that you “need to learn to play”; you’re perfectly competent

Just home from a great night in The Dreadnought in Bathgate with the punk band Emergency Exit.

Turned out to be busier than we expected. Helped a fair bit by a crowd of Blue Angels appearing to see us. Not sure if they were at the last gig we did in one of their club houses or were just on a night out but the owner said he's never seen them in there before. Maybe more gigs at their other club houses who knows.

Feedback was fantastic and the cream of the crop comment was that a guy had 2 tickets for Belinda Carlisle in Edinburgh tonight but when he heard we were playing and covering Ramones songs he wanted to see us. Now that was nice of him. Those tickets cost him £34 each he said.

    Usual phone vids being taken.

All in all i thoroughly enjoyed it.

    Dave

I’d like to see Belinda Carlisle also

I used to drive a Citroen Dyane 6.

Now don't tell me my Vovo 850T wasn't worth the extra!!

You can find playable instruments for a few hundred pounds, but really great? I don't think so.

My vintage brand precision is amazing. It has design limitations like all precisions but it’s still amazing, so I do disagree with you

  4. I just freaking play them, even if, like Leigh from morcheeba’s p bass it comes with action that you could a) fit a bus under and b) Jamerson would be proud of

It doesn’t matter if it cost £150 or £15000 it just goes thump in time with drums, no one notices the price tag **

btw yes I bought that bass ..  from mr Gordon himself

** unless it’s made of wood felled on a solstice, in a leap year and blessed by fairies in which case it will sound better

  5. There’s two, run by different people who know each other. One is in a pub in town and the other in community centre. I was told by host at the one in town that he often goes to the other and that they need a bass player; however he has never actually turned up any time I’ve gone there so each I spend an hour listening to kids playing violins and guys in their late 60s playing Rihanna songs on acoustic guitars. No one seems to be hosting it. Seems it starts at 8 and is fixed in stone at that point - I cannot get there for 8 due to kids bedtime

i have more chance of playing at the one in town but it’s a bit of a step and goes on pretty late which isn’t good as I have to be up at 6 every day and I have chores to do when I get home and don’t want to wake the dogs if everyone is asleep

does anyone know a decent OM night around coalvile, groby, Markfield ?

The electrical version for electro magnetic shielding has conductive adhesive. I would not think the gardening people have the tape made for them, they just source the mass produced electrical variety.

Sure but I was explaining this as the OP seemed unsure of what meterman intended. Personally I’ve never had a conductivity issue but maybe I’ve been lucky

I don’t have a multimeter or know anyone near me who has one.

The strip of tape / copper wire thing makes zero sense to me, but then admittedly I do have learning difficulties!

Never had to do this before and I haven’t managed to find a YT tutorial that I can actually make sense of. I only want to do this once, properly, and not balls it up like I usually do with anything maintenance related 😂

He means get a long thin strip and turns the ends over so copper, not glue, meets copper, and any potential areas of poor conductivity are removed

I can't say which is best but I can tell you that if you initiate one, you can't then claim through the other!

Not true - you get three months with eBay, six with PayPal

I’ve had PayPal cover it where eBay did not.

ebay - worth calling them first before you contact seller to ask what you should do and get them to add notes about your call so next agent you talk to know you’re doing it their approved way and have sought advice

As I said, once they've been told they almost certainly won't sell it because they would leave themselves open to being nicked themselves.  The thing is to get in quick and tell them.

The wording of the offence is pretty cut and dried - I've italicised the important bits:

'A person handles stolen goods if (otherwise than in the course of the stealing) knowing or believing them to be stolen goods he dishonestly receives the goods, or dishonestly undertakes or assists in their retention, removal, disposal or realisation by or for the benefit of another person, or if he arranges to do so'

When you tell the shop, they then know or believe the bass to be stolen and that's that.  pawn shops take hooky gear all the time and don't care.  But once they are told it is hooky gear it is another matter - they back off.  It isn't in their interests.

As a law graduate, I agree

I'm sorry, I'm an international student so it's also possible that my understanding of "Check" is wrong, I thought you just wanted to look at the bass and then see if you were interested. if I understand correctly now, should the correct meaning of "Check" be "Hold"? It's my own fault anyway.

No - your understanding of “check” is correct (but “check” can also mean hold/stop/wait as in chess; “check mate”) English is very confusing - I’m IELTS grade 9 and I’m certain it’s the most ambiguous, contextual language I’ve ever seen - I pity learners of it

edit - I spoke to a Ukrainian refugee lady last week at an open mic night. She was very apologetic about her command of English but she could use definite and indefinite article and numerous tenses, from speaking a native language with no usage of the first two. She didn’t believe how advanced she actually was. I’ve seen native English speakers who can muster less. @ymdtzxstop knocking yourself down for lack of fluency, you’re doing just fine

  11. Partner totally doesn’t get it. It’s “pi55ing around with guitars” (I know, totally insulted, liked I’d be seen dead with a 6 stringed toy version of a bass) but major moment of my life was playing live for first time and watching the glasses behind the bar rattle as I sound-checked and playing along with a guitarist to a song that had people up and dancing, and thinking “I’m making that happen”

“would you do it again?” She asked .. “in a New York minute” I replied
