1.
Hi Sonny, GLWTS, long been a fan of the 44-64 Custom - AKA the Duck Dunn Signature. Not enough of them around! Out of interest, do you know why the neck doesn't have the 70's J style blocks and binding, and the body colour headstock? It looks like the neck off of a Joe Osborn, with those 'aged' inlays. I also didn't think the non-PJ 44-64 custom came with a tort pickguard, but I guess that's easily been changed. As for sound, think P-Bass punch with a slimmer, sweeter neck. The model was developed for Duck by Lakland as he found a P-Bass neck got uncomfortable over long sets as he got older. I imagine it was also a way to not have to take out valuable relic basses on the road, as is common practice nowadays.
Hey man, this is just the way they sent it. Perhaps It hasn't got the block inlays is because it was originally the 'Duck Dunn' special, but when i ordered it it was no longer. It is black with the Tortoise shell because that's what I requested. Great bass, but I miss the Bridge pickup so I need to shift this in order to get a Jazz (still a Lakland I might add)...so spread the word about this bass (: Nice one dude.
 2.
I used to have one a few years ago & it was a very nice guitar. These days the only Gretsch I've got is a limited edition Anniversary model which is just awesome. The Bigsby's are OK if you set them up correctly & don't expect too much of them (this applies to any Bisgby). Make sure you lubricate all the string contact points & that the string break angle at the nut isn't too great, use heavier gauge strings & you should be OK. I recommend "Big Bends Nut Sauce" - it's a lubricant made for nuts & bridges & it's excellent.
Sounds great pal, thanks for the heads up, really appreciate it! Have you seen that this guy has invented and patented a Bigsby Tuning Stabiliser? For all models of Bigsby's. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ig5PeUIlYZM
 3.
how heavy is she and how would you describe the sound (yeah I know silly question)
I don't know the exact weight but I would describe it as relatively light. The sound is punchy, with real nice low end. The pickups sound wicked! If you follow this link, it'll take you to the website where you see the specs and click 'hear it' in the description to hear a few tasters of the sound: https://www.lakland....4-64-custom.htm
 4.
All the cheaper, Korean made Gretsches are good guitars for the money.
Nice one, I keep hearing good things about them. Have you got one? I've heard the Bigsby's are the only cause for concern, as they often pulling the intonation out, but there is a fix for that!
 5.
Gretsch 6129 '57 Silverjet is the one I have experience of, not a budget one I'm afraid but a true revelation, a sound of its own, closer to a hollow body and so resonant. Fantastic quality, lightweight, unique tone and a world away from solid body Gibson and Fender guitars......closer to £2k new though.
Aah man, sounds fantastic. Thats the dream, but it would take me a year of hard saving to afford it. Guess you gotta compromise somewhere...I'm actually looking at a different Gretsch to the one i posted, It's the Gretsch G5655T with a Centre Block £700, it's definitely not a 57' £2k bit of gear but its a big step up from the G5441T. Real nice Super Hilotron pickup, which you don't get with the G5441T. If you've got a picture of your silverjet, attach it, i'd love to see it!
 6. Really interested in getting this guitar. Its a great price for a Gretsch (£400) and i've always been interested in getting one. Anyone got one of these or played one? I'd love to hear some feedback/reviews. Wondering what the difference is between this one and an expensive as hell Gretsch... Also to note i play a blend of indie rock/rock/gospel sort of stuff. Any input would be much appreciated (: Sonny.
 7.
Hi there, what position on the neck is the damage to the fingerboard please? Looks like the bottom of the fingerboard but wondering at what fret number? Cheers and GLWTS.
Hi there, it's on the 4th fret and on the bottom of the fingerboard. It does not affect the playing at all. Thanks, Sonny
