1. Although I'm not familiar with your bass, your cheapest option (assuming the pups are passive) would be to wire the bass up passive in the short term - until you have enough dough to put an active eq in.

Assuming it's a 2 pickup bass - you'll need 3 pots, some wire, some solder and a capacitor. Do a quick search for wiring diagrams, or find a mate who can do it for you. You never know - you might even think it sounds better passive.

If you don't like it passive, once you've got enough money you need to decide whether to replace the original eq, or upgrade - I guess most of us would upgrade - so look at EMG, John East, bartolini, Aguilar etc.

If you have some front, you might take your bass back to the shop and ask them to fix it - they probably have a luthier they regularly use - insist on cost price as it's only just out of warranty, and insist they lend you a bass (prob second hand) to use while yours is away. be polite but firm - they want your continued custom........but maybe you bought it online or from Sound Control?

Just some options for you dude! Hope it helps.

  2. I personally think a good condition SH series one would be a much better bet. The bridge on these later fenders is much more substantial than those of old, and if you don't like the series one switching - just don't use it. I picked one up off of here for under £500 and it's mint and gorgeous!

We obviously have far too much time on our hands!! Happy Birthday to us!

Thanks for the kind words Chris - Oh boy can I relate to the above quote!!

  5.
If you want light and GREAT, check out the Eden Nemesis line of combos. I have the 2x12 one which I can comfortably move around on my own and it has loads of power. The 2x10 would definatly be worth a look if you want something smaller.
And I've got one for sale!!

  6. I sold my AH 300 head when I bought my MB SA450. I've now bought a Mark V AH250 which weighs about 5 times as much as the MB but knocks it into a cocked hat when it comes to grunt.

Still got the MB and will take it out again soon to recompare, but I love the Trace.

  7. I'd go for a mexi classic. i used to have one and didn't get on with the neck width, but otherwise it was lovely. I've got some sound clips of mine live through a trace if you want to hear what one sounds like in a band situation.

  8. I've got a pair of Wharfedale Titan 12's (passive) that are fantastic. very light, reliable (so far) and pretty loud. They seem to have picked up scuffs quite easily but I don't transport them in their covers, and their used at one to three gigs each week. We even put the kick drum through them at smaller vgigs, and supplement them with subs for bigger gigs.

  9. I just bought a Geddy Lee Jazz body off of Chris. It was exactly as described except he threw in a BA II bridge instead of a standard thingy!! Checked it was OK first - which - of course - it was. The body was well packaged, and he kept me up to date throughout the transaction. Couldn't have asked for more - thanks dude!!
