  1. I agree with Risk101 - these are truly excellent basses. They retail for around £2500, so £650 is a bargain. The neck on mine is fantastic, though on the chunky side. The low B sounds amazing. I don't know why they depreciate so much, but they seem to. I recently bought an MTD and was planning to sell my Corvette to pay for it, but I can't bring myself to part with it and, frankly, it is worth more than the£650ish I would get for it.

Somebody buy this thing, you will not regret it!

  2. Been a big fan of Eden gear for a years, working my way up from a Nemesis NC210 (a truly awesome combo) to a Metro and now to my main head which is a WT550 which I absolutely love.

I needed a backup amp and I saw that the WTX500 was being sold new for £299. I took the plunge, but I have to say I was a bit worried about things I had read about its volume.

I use a Barefaced Super Twin ( I think it is, 2x12 with tweeter) which is 4Ohm.

The WTX500 is plenty loud enough for gigs. I gigged last night in a fairly large pub, probably around 200 people, busy. No PA support. The band is a LOUD rock band with a hard hitting drummer playing a Sonor kit. Amp sounded full and great. It was limiting towards the end of the gig, but it still sounded fine.

I also tried it at a band rehearsal through an 8ohm Trace Elliot 2x10 and it was sounding fine too - even being asked to turn down after getting a bit enthusiastic with slapping on Papa Dont Preach.

I think perhaps some people use the Enhance knob a little too much which most def will sap your volume or make the amp limit easier by boosting the extreme lows. I keep it off. I also run the EQ pretty much flat, sometimes adding a little bit of upper mid for more attack (and I mean a little bit, between 12 and 1 o'clock is plenty to make an audible difference).

If you want a nice lightweight head then this really is great. I have the nifty carry case for it too, and it means I can walk into a gig with two basses on my back (thanks to my Mono double case), my Barefaced in one hand, my amp slung round my neck and my stand in the other hand. Brilliant! For convenience, I might make this my main gigging head - there aint much difference in the sound.

Negative points -the only thing I don't like is the Upper Mid Frequency - 2.2Khz. The way I play I seem to get a better attack from around 1 Khz. However, this is a very very small point. Nit picking if anything.

These amps are going really cheap new for some reason - I would defo consider it, though probably for gigging you would need a 4ohm load to get the most out it.

  3. The legendary blue sparkle precision from the live after death video.

I think of all the signature models made, I think this is actually the closest to Steve's bass.

I got this from Bass direct last year. This is a japanese made P-bass, with seymour duncan pickups and a badass bridge. The machine heads have been upgraded to hipshots.

Great condition. I love this bass dearly, and already bought it back after selling it before! But needs must, and I never get a chance to use it live. Flat wounds aren't really useable for most if the stuff i do!
    In Dundee.

  4. Up for sale is my Clover Avenger 6 string. A truly remarkable bass, but I don't use it nearly enough.

Bought from Bass Direct last year.

Not used a great deal, and is in excellent condition.

Comes with a gig bag, but if posted I would send it a beat up but sturdy hard case.

    Based near Dundee. I

Trades: A high end 5 string might be considered.

  5. Hi there,

Just wondering who people would recommend for sending a bass around the country - cost is not too much of an issue, don't mind paying a bit more. I have JayDee Supernatural that needs a re-fret and am thinking of sending it down to JayDee in Birmingham rather than letting the local guy do it. Any suggestions? I know some companies insurance doesn't cover musical instruments.

    Cheers guys

  6. Hi y'all,

Acquired a German made Warwick Streamer STD 5 2PU (the ones that came out before the Rockbass line) - Great playing bass but the pickups sound like crap.

Anyone suggest anything that would drop in with the minimal of fuss - I know Bartolini do a replacement but can only find it in 4 string versions.

    Cheers!

  7. Howdy,

I've recently acquired a very nice early 2000s Warwick Corvette at a stupidly cheap price (it's terrible how much these basses depreciate). Great bass, but I'm not overly keen on the pickups or the pre-amp - the treble control seems to be more like upper midrange territory to my ears, 1-2Khz and its just a bit too harsh for me.

Any ideas on what pickups would just drop in with the minimum of fuss - I might just leave it as a passive bass. Any suggestions to what would be a good pre-amp? I know it's down to personal preference, but just wondering if any one has tried anything that they think is good.

    Cheers!

  8. Why is this still here??? This is an amazing price for an amazing bass - these are £2000 new. I paid £800 for a second hand 5 string one a couple of years ago. It's a great bass. Corvettes depreciate a ridiculous amount.

  9. If you ever get the chance to play one of these basses - do! The strings it comes with are MASSIVE 50-110 flat wounds but they give an awesome tone.

Bass is recorded with an Eden WDTI pre amp which is quite sweet: Few tracks with it I recorded today ( there's some actual maiden on my youtube channel, thought I'd play something different today)

I have a few different playing styles, but I love making a precision clank from time to time :)

  10. I've been a massive Steve Harris fan since I was a kid - been trying to figure out how to get his sound for years, though the sound does change through the albums. Definitely more middle going on pre somewhere in time - I think he must have used his Ibanez Roadster on a few of the tracks on Piece of Mind, I'm sure I can hear a jazz pick up there.

The bass pod xt has a hiwatt amp on it which I feel does a good job at emulating Steve's sound; Here a few samples, using my precision (with round wounds) Think the treble and high mid were turned to about 2-3 o'clock.

Using my Steve Harris precision strung with 50-110 rotosound flats and an SWR SM900 amp with quite a bit of boost at 900-1Khz area:

  11. Thought I'd give one of these a bash, but just not the bass for me (the front pick up interferes with popping) and I really need to trim down the collection.

£490 - Including delivery to UK.

In pretty good condition - a few minor chips here and there, works fine, bit of crackling on the volume pots but everything works as it should. Sounds immense, serious phat passive tones available and a huge variety too thanks to the funky circuitry.

Comes in original case which is in not bad nick either. Also comes with the truss rod wrench ( a 5/16 wrench).

Had it set up professionally a few weeks ago, so it got fresh strings and is playing nice. I think this bass would sing with a competent pick player (I don't really use a pick much).

Trades: Yamaha bb 1024/1025, Fender Jazz (not MIM unless has been upgraded),

Based in Newport on Tay , Fife.
