1. Moved on to 6 string, so this is gathering dust.

German Made, 2008
Swamp Ash body
Ovangkol neck
Natural Oil Finish

Plays and sounds amazing, Massive variety of tones available due to being able to turn those humbuckers in to single coils or route them in series and parallel. I've been gigging with it about a year and always get complements on the sound I get from this beast.

It is somewhat roadworn, it is a gigging bass; I bought it second hand from Kenny's Music in Dunfermline. It was previously owned by a guy in a metal band, he traded 2 of his Warwicks in for a 90s Thumb. From some stage shenanigans, there was some fake blood on the body so the Tech at Kennys stripped the finish back. There are quite a few marks on the body and a small chip on the neck (see pictures) - I don't notice this when I'm playing and I'm all over the neck normally. One of the machine heads is not stock, but seems to be identical to the other ones.

The input jack can be a little loose depending on what type of lead you use - my planet waves sits as snug as a bug, but other cheaper leads can be a bit loose.

Looking for £750.
Trades;
-Possibly could be persuaded with a Music Man Stingray 5
-Good quality light weight cabs/head of around £700 quid value; I would be particularly interested in a Markbass combo

I live in Fife; not really keen on posting, I've seen some horror stories the past wee while (what on earth do the delivery guys do! Are the actively trying to break stuff!).
I could deliver to the north of england for petrol (probably around £60) or meet halfway and split the cost.

2. Moved on to 6 string, so this is gathering dust.

German made 2008 Warwick Corvette $$ 5 string.
Swamp Ash body,
Ovangkol neck

Finish is not immaculate,a few marks here and there - it's a gigged bass! The biggest marks are a chip next to the screw of the front pickup and at the 10th fret on the underside of the neck which is quite visible but not noticeable when playing (and I move around the neck a lot). I bought it second hand from Kenny's Music in Dunfermline, about a year ago and it's been my main bass since.

Works fine, plays brilliantly (as you would expect!). Sounds amazing and has many tonal options due being able to turn those massive humbuckers into single coils or have them in series or parallel.
Youtube clip of me playing it, shows of the growl I think :)

£800 ono.
Trades; Yamaha BB1025x

I stay near Leven in Fife - I could deliver, probably as far as Newcastle for petrol cost or split of petrol if meeting halfway.

3. Excellent condition A4 artisan bass; Hardly played. Bit of an impulse buy from ebay as it was going cheap and I always fancied trying one. I've recently bought a 6 string Clover Avenger, so I need to get rid of some the collection to justify it!

Outstanding bass for the money; hipshot hardware, laminated through neck, bartolini pups and 3 band EQ. Satin finish on the neck - the neck is slim and fast.

I stay in Fife; could post it for around £25 or deliver for petrol cost.

No offers; I'm selling it what I bought it for which is a very fair price! Cort stuff is really well made and it's worth penny of £260!

I used this bass on the tapping section of this tune (5mins 10secs) because it was so easy to play and gave a nice clear sound. http://chrisboitz.ba...mp.com/releases

4. Just finished recording and mixing my first tune, hopefully more will follow - I've got about an albums worth of stuff that I want to get finished.

It's a 6:30 minute bass oriented rock epic; Started life as a the main finger picked bass riff but just kept growing! There are up to 5 basses playing at once at some points, which proved a bit challenging in mixing and mastering!

Hope you like it!

5. Cheers guys,

I've decided to go for a Clover Avenger 6, second hand from Bass Direct; I'll let you know what it's like when I get it :) - they seem to have a good reputation and it's got single coils.

The Cort stuff is outstanding, I have an A4 artisan; the only weak area is the pickups/pre amp but the instrument is solid. I missed a A6 Artisan on ebay that went for £255! Had a B5 in the past which was also a very well put together instrument.

6. Hi y'all,

I'm looking to get a decent 6 string bass, around the £1000 at the most.

There's a few second hand ones kicking about, has any one had any experience of the following:

Sandberg Ken Taylor basic 6
Status Eclipse 6
Kingston MTD KZ 6
Ibanez BTB 1406

These seem to be the ones I've focused on; I tried a Warwick Pro Series 6, but I couldn't get on with the pickups, I prefer humbuckers or single coils to soapbars I think.

Any opinions would be welcomed!

Cheers

7. I've recently completely changed my bass rig - lugging my big 40kg trace combo up and down the stairs was getting a bit much!

I've got Trace Elliot 1028H (2x10 400watt) and 1518C (1x15 300watt) cabs, both at 8ohms.

I acquired an orange terror 500 as a part trade for my Trace Combo and it sounds awesome - will defo work well on rock/punk/indie cover gigs that I do.

However, I also play more funky/soul gigs where I need a clean slap tone.

Decent preamp pedals/di boxes are 200-350 quid, and I figure for that money I should probably buy a second amp so I've got a back up head and tonal options.

The EBS Reidmar caught my eye. Just a couple of questions:

1. Will running the EBS Reidmar into my full cab setup be sensible? Is "underpowering" bass cabs just a myth or is it advised against.
2. Anyone have any other suggestions for a similar price range; the EBS is nice with the semiparametric EQ, compressor and apparantly has stacks of volume The TC450 looks nice too.

Thanks guys

8. Thanks for the input guys - I'll try another few gigs and see what I think.

I cannot get over how loud it is though! I mean, ffs! I compared it against my Trace Elliot 1215 combo with 2x10 extension cab today (before I sold the combo)- so the full 500watts was coming from the trace. Hooked the orange up with a 2x10 and 1x15 and cranked it up to near max; there is no comparison with regard to volume - the orange was staggeringly, scarily loud. And rich in tone.

The trace sounds lush on its own, but I suspect the orange will sit in a mix a bit better - the punters wont care if you can hear the juicy snap of a pop now and then, but they will certainly appreciate a thick wall of sound.

I'll give it a few more gigs; there's always the TC RH450 ;)

9. I've recently acquired an Orange Terror 500 and gigged with it at the weekend (though trace elliot 2x10 and 1x15s).

It sounded great - the only thing is the top end, or lack of it. It gives a great rock tone for most things, but for funkier slap sort of stuff or aggressive (steve harris click) it just hasn't got the snap. I used to have a trace elliot, and that's the sort of sound I'm used to.

Also, having more control of the bass and low mids is useful for those boomy gigs.

Does any one have any suggestions? Is it worth putting a pre-amp in front of the Orange input, or will the amp/preamp valve soak up the top end?

It's a belter of an amp though, I cant believe how loud it is!

10. Hi y'all - looking for a bit of advice

I'm thinking of buying a second hand GP12SMX AH250 head (salvaged from a combo)

The seller states that the input distorts quite early when turning up the input gain; it's there but not as bad when the blend is turned all the way to "solid state"; could this be a pre amp valve problem (is the valve still included in the circuit to some degree even when blended out?)

Cheers

11. Up for sale is one of my Trace Elliot Combos; A 500watt 1210; 2x10, 12 band EQ, dual band compressor.

Comes with amp cover and floor board.

Great condition. Sounds tremendous. Got myself some good cabs, so I'm going to get a lightweight head.

I would trade for an American Fender Jazz, Musicman Stingray or an instrument of similar value to the new price of the amp.

I stay in FIfe, Scotland. I could deliver to around the boarders for petrol cost.

I'd happily organise a courier if I can find someway of packing it!
