A really interesting video. Is it just music or is everything getting worse ? Films, tv, literature and even politics have all been dumbed down for the reasons stated in the video - risk aversion and the need for a commercial return. Conversely , the fact that it's now much easier for more people to make music with garageband, fruity loops etc. can only be a good thing as who cares about chart music anyway !

Stunning !

Hi Kev,
I got it in a multi bass / guitar deal from a shop - it had been on display but unused by me other than to tune it and for an initial inspection.

Could you remind us or post the original link regarding your bad experience?
I bought an Elwood at what looked a good price. The seller said she'd loosened the strings for transport (reasonable enough) but when the bass arrived they were tight against the fretboard so much so that it was impossible to tune. The state of the neck immediately set alarm bells ringing. It was meant to be Active - there was no cavity for a battery. The bass was meant to be a 'Human Nature' i.e. natural finish, but it was a normal bass which had been sanded back to the wood and not sealed. The seller originally wanted me to pay for return postage, till I quoted ebay policy on items not described. She finally refunded me by e-cheque which took an absolute eternity to clear.Having bought a few basses from Adrian Maruszyck previously, I sent him pictures to see if he knew anything about it and his reply was that he thought the bass 'had been pickled'.
It was a truly horrible experience ! A shame, as I really fancy the Univox she is also selling. It is bizarre as she has loads of positive feedback and I think some people on here had purchased other things off her around the same time.Given that she sells a lot of guitars and basses, there is no possible way she didn't know what she was doing. I guess she'd bought a lemon and tried to offload it.
As for the Jake - seems a very low starting price.....

Would have loved to have tried one of these especially with it being local but given the condition in my head it was worth about £100 tops.(if it still works - the battery terminal looks very corroded)
Seller wants upwards of £299 - don't all rush !

Buy one with the Nordy big singles. Different class altogether than the Bartolini's on the cheaper models.

Must have only been one left. Congratulations on finding a great deal !

Simon bought my Stingray for his friend Connor and it was an absolute pleasure to meet and have a natter about basses as both were true gents. Completely echo the sentiments above , it is meeting other BC'ers like this which makes the forum the success it is.
