Chatgpt has just recommended Lenspeed logistics as a courier to potentially transport my Ricky if I sell it. Having just had DHL destroy a one off custom guitar,  I was looking for a better service than the usual suspects and wondered if anybody had any experience of this company and a rough price for a £3k bass transported within the UK fully insured.

The 2nd episode was definitely the least interesting of the three.

I've seen all 3 episodes- they are about bass and bassists- what's not to like !

I liked the HILS HNB5 better than  the Space -I picked it up new from Andertons at £479 and presumably that deal will come back at some point. Might be worth considering if you haven't definitely made up your mind or got one already.

Just checked and they are on offer again at £479. Also Andertons are an easy place to return to if it wasn't for you.

I can't put this bass down it sounds and plays so great. I got some self adhesive wheel weights and put them in the control cavity - 5 strips wasn't enough so I've ordered another 5. If £10 sorts out the only issue this might be one of the best buys ever.

I don't really want to go the ultralites route as I couldn't live with screw holes from the original tuners.

Here's the Cort GB Short scale I snagged at the weekend. It's truly phenomenal other than the neck dive :

The bargain got even better. I wanted to change strings so looked on Amazon hoping for a black Friday deal. I was looking for D'addario Chromes flats and they had a short scale set listed as used like new for £22. I was cynical thinking what I'd end up with was a cut down, unbranded long scale set but they arrived and were genuine chromes and uncut.

Looks like somebody took them out of the pack and didn't like the look of them. They work absolutely brilliantly on the bass. Having played on it all morning I concur with the review above that the bass can hold it's own with much more expensive instruments. In a blind test if I was told this cost £600- £700 I'd have thought it was good value for that . Why oh why Cort hadn't designed out the neck dive issue I'll never know, as it would have been a 10/10 bass without it.

I've got some on a Sire GB5 electroacoustic which is more like a hybrid bass with just a Piezo pickup and they sound sublime.

I've tried the golds too but definitely favour the copper.

I got it for £169 used as new off Ebay and they are generally £299 new in Stores in the UK.

Got the bass and it was in as new condition. The bags are still on the tuners and film on the pickguard. Yay! The fit and finish are exceptional, the neck is a thing of beauty - reminded me of the Charvel necks everybody used to rave about. I actually quite like the colour, it is an unusual green but perfectly complements the darker colour of the neck. The preamp and eq are working perfectly as per the review above and you can get some positively thunderous tones out of the thing. It is perfect apart from the neck dive which when seated, is probably up there with the worst of any bass I've ever owned. Such a shame. Definitely worth what I paid for it but it could have been a 10/10.

I've just snagged a used one for cheap off ebay. Drab green unfortunately - would much rather have had the fandango purple. 

Hope I get a good one ! will update on findings later.

Heartbreaking ! I saw his birthday in the paper the other day and couldn't believe he was 63. What a sad loss.

I'll update you when I put them on the other basses. They feel fantastic, smoother than any other flats I've played and low tension so really nice to play.

Yes I was thinking I could supply the pickguard to be printed to guarantee the fit.

I was playing in AI last night : Ricky x LV or Ricky X Joy Division - it was just an experiment as presumably this would be a trademark infringement but was a cool start to get the creative juices flowing. The JD didn't come out properly but this would be cool with the big waves under the strings if smaller waves covered the whole pickguard ( IMHO 😆)

Let us know what you think. I was tempted but they sounded really bright from the vids I watched. I really like the Super Polished so the fact these were more grippy put me off - be interested to know what they feel like too.

Hmmm - just thinking if you did a clear pickguard and then printed on the back of it, it wouldn't need to be lacquered.

Is it something you would be happy to do for your BC friends and if so what would the costs be roughly ? ( I assume each job could be different )

Extra light prices have gone back up to £83 - mediums are still cheap. Going to try a on a jazz and  a Ricky.

Would this method work for pickguards too ?

I went with the extra lights. I'd read on another forum the heavier gauge were primarily for drop tunings ( not sure of the validity of that claim.) Unfortunately I put them on a new bass which is a Xmas present - it was confiscated 5 minutes after the set up so didn't get a chance to test them to make a proper opinion sound wise but they sounded great through the Spark Neo and certainly good enough to want to put them on other higher end basses

I've had a couple of pickguards from Brian / earlpilanz and they are both perfect.

Me too and they've been superb.

Never tried these but they currently look like they are at an excellent price on Amazon : £46 for the extra light set and £54 for the medium. Bass Direct currently have them at £89 and others for more.

Hopefully worth a punt.....
