    Anyone who dismisses short scale basses is in danger of sounding like an ignorant tw@t — like Scott Devine does in the SBL video

    I couldn't make out if it was tongue in cheek or not - certainly made me consider whether I'd watch anything else he produces - mostly yabber with little substance anyway IMHO.

  2. Just a shoutout to David at Retrovibe for making me a custom truss rod cover for my L'il Richard bass. Obviously this was a small job with little if any profit in it but great customer service. Looking forward to buying another Retrovibe bass in the near future.

  3. I tried to knock them down another £600 on the Flip Flop coloured Thumb they have in there currently (reduced by £1200) and they said no ( what terrible customer service ! 😆 )

    Seriously -  they have always been brilliant for anything I've bought from them in the past and the best product videos ?( Although I do like Dagan's too

    )

  4. I've just bought one ( had Gas for it since release)  and there is nothing wrong with it at all. I watched the vids on Youtube with the biassed guy with an axe to grind and it almost put me off getting one - glad I paid no attention to him. Merchant City Music were brilliant during the purchase as they happily sent me photos of all of the bits that might have been cause for concern and allayed my fears.

    I bought 3 basses last week - this , the Reverend Mike Watt ( they need to do a Black Grape model) and a Lakland 55-02 - all brilliant basses in their own ways but the Mike Kerr was the one I couldn't put down.

  6. Excellent condition Ibanez SR650 in Antique Stained Burst.

    Collection from L30 Liverpool preferred but could meet up within reason.

    Basses incoming so I may have boxes to be able to post potentially at buyers risk and cost.

    Not looking for trades ideally - but you never know if it's in mint condition and interesting !

  7. I used hydrate on the fretboard when I got mine as it looked a little dry. I then tried a little bit on the back of the body to see how it would come up and it looked wonderful, so I sparingly gave it a once over. It now has a very subtle shine but it does make the grain on the thing really pop.

  8. Well I decided on a shortscale but couldn't decide between a Mike Kerr and a Mike Watt so recklessly bought both. I'll post how I get on with them. Merchant City Music in Glasgow were brilliant- great service and a decent discount unlike Guitar Guitar who wanted £210 deposit to send me some photos of a Sandberg. It was refundable but completely ridiculous and lost them the sale.

    I changed to EB Slinkys which don't feel as harsh the OE strings. I do have flats on a lot of my basses though.

    A strip of pickup foam tidies up the nasty sharp cut ends as well.

    Oh, the pickups are fine for my purposes.

    There is a great kiesel video about stringing headless basses on youtube showing how to get the ends tidy.
