  1. Hi Mick, definitely interested (subject to date of course) - last year's event was great fun, really friendly atmosphere. Would definitely recommend it to anyone not sure. I'm also working on something that might allow the donation of a raffle prize or a bit of sponsorship as well - will PM you if it comes off...
  2. Hi, suggest you check out www.themusiclab.co.uk. They're based in Hoddesdon, teach bass along with drums and guitar too. Can't speak highly enough of them - I'm a bass and drum student there. All tutors and students v friendly, supportive and (most importantly for me) patient! Pm me if you want to find out more. Good luck with the search, Hertsbass
  3. Mick, many thanks for organising this and also thanks to all the aforementioned BC'ers who made it such a great get-together. My first bass bash (hadn't even touched a bass guitar a year ago) but hopefully not my last. Really impressed by how friendly and supportive everyone was, and enjoyed seeing lots of kit and some great musicians in action. Cheers, Simon
  4. Sibob, I'll bring a spare pair of headphones along; you're welcome to use them on your fx stand if they're any better than your spare pair. Looking forward to meeting you tomorrow!

  6. Name/brand - Fender Precision Country of origin - USA, 2012 Est original cost - £1k (new) Fretboard - Maple Strings - D'Addario Flatwound Chromes P/ups - Custom Shop 60s Neck reshaped to a Jazz profile by Jon Shuker I'll also bring along my 2001 Fender Mustang MIJ reissue. Like a short scale P. Don't know if it'll qualify for the test but it's there if you want it!
  7. In true Basschat fashion, I have in turn bought Lozz's old bass from Freddy. He is great to deal with, good and quick communication throughout. As he's in Sheffield and I'm in Herts we couldn't meet up, but he went out of his way to help out with shipping. Guitar arrived extremely well packaged and ahead of schedule, and absolutely as described. I echo Lozz's feedback - in our dealings Freddy has been totally helpful, reliable and honest - deal with him with confidence.
  8. Sorry Sibob, can't help you on the pedal. Mick, is there a thread asking people to log their fender p's for the blind test? I saw it earlier but lost it while I was checking my specs. I think the test is a great idea. Can you post a link on this thread if it's still running? Lozz, have just bought your old p-bass from Freddy thru BC, would be interesting to see what you think of its recent cosmetic surgery!

  10. Hello Teadrinker Still enjoying my korg pedal. Hope you're well. Glwts and have a bump on me for a first class BC'er!
  11. Thanks Seashell, Lozz - I've found BC'ers to be a without exception a very supportive bunch, event sounds great and I hope I can make it!
  12. Sounds interesting, am following this thread and will commit as soon as Mrs Hertsbass confirms our holiday plans. Am comfortably one of the worst bass players in Hertfordshire, if not the entire South East (newbie player), so don't expect me to play much - I'll be on record the whole time! Am however a bit of a vintage electronics junkie so could bring along an Akai DI and a Korg G5 if anyone's interested in having a play in Sibob's effects area...
  13. I was yet another of the thumbrest customers. Rich was extremely accommodating and went out of his way to keep everyone happy. Really pleased with the 'rests, and he even refunded me when I overpaid the postage! Top BC'er and highly recommended. Thanks Rich.
  14. Hi, would definitely take two - black plastic if available, aluminium if not. I'd rather perform a vasectomy on myself than take a drill to one of my guitars...
  15. Hello Gary Mac, thanks for the greeting. I see you've gigs lined up in a few venues near me - will try to catch one of them.
  16. Thanks all. Great harry, I was going to say that my left hand has trouble stretching round it, but reading steve-bbb's reply, I'd better not.
  17. Hello all Newbie bass player and even newer member saying hi to all. Have been a drummer for a while now, and have long envied bass players as (a) it looked lots of fun, and (b) it looked really easy ;-) Earlier this year I decided to give it a go. It's just as much fun as I imagined, but not quite as easy(!) Still trying to get the hang of playing notes as well as just hitting stuff. If there's a magic solution out there, I guess I'll find it on these boards - but the best advice I've had so far is "start 10 years ago". Look forward to reading the boards and seeking advice from the experts. All the best Hertsbass
