don’t have a problem with 60s stuff - I do with the insistence that this was the be all and end all of everything - it was characterised by pretty poor reproduction of generally mono recordings recorded on embryonic multi track systems - with pretty rudimentary amplification and many cases, instruments!!
I grew up abroad and the only music I had access to were my parents old ‘60s stuff, a bit of blues, reggae and motown. I loved it then and still do today. Whilst I don’t think its the be all of everything I generally prefer the closest a recording can get to the bands/artists live sound. I’ve lost track of the number of bands Ive seen live and been really disappointed with the album on its release or in many cases the second album after a successful debut that is (imo) ruined by over production and so polished it’s just sterile.

Most of the Motown hits would've sounded much better if Jamerson et al played an Alembic. Or better yet, an upright.
Alternatively it’s the quick production and low fi instruments and recording that that made early Motown so exciting.

I think Radiohead are boring and mediocre at best. They had a couple good tunes but far too much self indulgent noodling.
Second possibily unpopular opinion. Foo Fighters never made a great album, their records were 75% filler. In their career, they could have made one and a half truly great albums.
Third unpopular opinion. Elvis sucks.
I’ve lost count of the number of times i’ve tried to get into Radiohead or The Foo Fighters. I must be missing something but I just don’t get the appeal.

There's a Fender Vintera 50's P bass in the for sale thread....490 quid....thats a steal. Its not me selling but I do have one. Good luck
I would second that opinion. I’m not the seller but that’s a lot of bass for the cash. Yamaha BB’s and Sterling Ray 34’s can be found second hand for your budget as well which are great value for money.
Edit: The only caveat being neck width. If a player has smaller hands a J width neck may be more suitable.

In my teens I really wanted a Stingray as I saw Simon Gallop live with The Cure a few times playing one. It wasn’t really the association with the player, Id just never seen a Stingray before and thought it looked and sounded amazing. I still do.

Despite being more than a little interested in "Gothic" music in most of its forms, I do not like anything that Nick Cave has produced, and think that as a songwriter he is vastly over-rated.
I never really saw Nick Cave as a goth. Id put him closer to Tom Waits in terms of theatre and character driven prose. I like plenty of goth music, if taken with a heavy dose of irony as it’s all fairly ridiculous.
