    G&L Tribute LB-100

    G&L Tribute JB-2

    G&L Tribute Kiloton (B-stock)

    All £299 at Andertons right now.  The LB-100 does P, the JB-2 does J, the Kiloton (sorta) does passive SR.  All done with aplomb.  Very happy with my Tribute LB-100.

    Don’t think I can top this for value. In fact whose silly idea of a thread was this? I’m now really tempted by the JB2. Never got on with a jazz body shape … mmmm

    Fender Vintera P bass.
    Best-looking bass in the store the day I tried it out.

    Played it for a nearly half an hour
    I have to say the tone was everything you'd want from a P bass..but it just didn't work for me.
    Wasn't actually a comfort issue, wasn't simply the neck, it was something I couldn't quite put my finger on.

    Really wanted to buy one, but I guess they're just not for me...it might be perfect for you, though.

     Not sure about the new MIJ Fender basses, but they used to be the best.

    As for the Player basses, sorry, no way.

    The Vintera P is a great bass and sounds just like a P should with the stock pickups. The neck is wide though. Too much so for me as well.

    As for the OP play a few and choose the one that works for you. Country of origin or model doesn’t really matter.

    I can kinda see the benefit in asking a question like this.

    I see Warmoth mentioned a lot for custom necks, so I went and priced one up for myself

    Neck = $377

    Shipping = $140

    Total = $517

    Converted to GBP = £413

    The above prices don't include any hardware other than frets and comes unfinished - the cheapest finish is $105

    That total puts the price firmly within the range that the OP was stating, so it's not totally outside the realm of possibility that this could be a viable business opportunity.

    Taxes and import fees from the USA can be shocking. I have underestimated these in the past.

    Thought I'd better bump this as I have been so busy lately, I forgot.

    Which reminds me - I have a question for you :

    In all the time I've been buying and selling bass gear here on Basschat, I've never had a situation like this one, where my For Sale advert has had almost 600 views, but I've not received one single PM or offer!

    So, my question is, what's wrong, what am I doing wrong...

    ...Is it the bass itself, the price I'm asking, the current state of the second hand market, my advert??

    I'm a little but stumped to be honest.

    So, Basschat friends, your constructive, insightful feedback and comments would be most welcome.

    Thanks 👍😊

    Even without the pickups this is a fair price for a decent instrument. The CVs I have played are as good as most Mexican Fenders and this one looks great which is a bonus. I expect people are just cutting costs after an unusually expensive winter.
