2. Thanks all, location is Basingstoke Hampshire. RAY35 is pale blonde, VVGC but the thumb rest is a giveaway, being non-standard. The Ashdown speakers are in pretty good nick, the grilles are a little dented but no significant marks, because they had covers from new. The amp (might be Mag 350 - quite old) has some Tipex marks for EQ. What else might help? Mike
3. Hi all, Is there a place on the forum to post stolen equipment to watch out for? Specifically, a near mint blonde Ray35 modified with thumb rest, and some used Ashdown gear - 1×15 and 2x10 cabs, both with covers, and a used looking Mag ?350 head. Grrr... Mike
4. I'm in Basingstoke, and have my moments, if you are still looking... Hohner Jack, Fender Squire fretless, wicked loud Greenboy/TC electronics rig, all my own teeth...
5. Bump! C'mon everybody, don't you want to give this beauty a home where she'll get the attention she deserves? Mike
6. A year later, and a bump! I rediscovered the joys of my vintage Hohner Jack 4 string, and every time I play it I wonder what possessed me to try a fiver...! Still in Basingtoke... Mike
7. I am in the final throes of building a 12/6 and 12sub pair. It isn't hard provided you have the right tools, and provided you can cut the wood accurately (or get someone to do that for you as a flat pack). The most important tools (IMHO) are several bar clamps... These are the huge clamps used to hold the major panels together whilst the glue cures, and you will really struggle without them. Hope that helps. PS me and a mate took the original designs and modified them ever so slightly to allow better stacking, and used routing to gut alignment grooves on major panels. This definitely helped. PPS: as you have noticed, don't expect this to be a cheap process! The drivers and electronics are expensive, but I suspect you are getting what you pay for.
8. 8 months on, and I have persevered... I got one from the States but thought I couldn't cope with the 5 strings and put it up for sae here. Luckily, no-one bit, and I can now pretty much always hit the note I want... Mostly! More practise, more practise... Building a fEARful 12/6 and 12sub next week...
9. Bought a TC Electronics RH450 from Lee. Great communication, great amp, nice guy! Deal with confidence...
10. £350 Sounds good to me! How would you like to be paid? Mike
11. Sold to the gentleman in Flintshire! Mods, can you close the topic please?
12.
Just thought I'd give you a free bump here, and to anyone thinking of delving into the world of DB this is a good place to start That's a lot of instrument for the money I bought one about 18 months back, and it's what convinced me to buy an acoustic DB I don't use my Stagg so much now, but it's a handy spare and folds down to a very neat, portable size If you're reading this, and thinking about a spare, portable DB or just thinking of dabbling - go for it! Shame you didn't get on with it Mike.....
Thanks for the bump. Yes, it is a nice thing, and sounds great but I just can't get my hands round it. I have a fair amount of fretless in my band's set, with lines I worked out long before trying to transpose them to the EUB. Funny old thing, but something tells me the two instruments are fundamentally different, and you can't *easily* just lift and shift rhythms and lines from the fretless to the EUB. Not sure about going the other way, but that would require me to develop lines on the EUB first, which I probably won't ever do, not least if I sell the Stagg! Mike
13. *** SOLD *** In red, a couple of years old but *very* well looked after. New Patrick strings fitted a couple of months ago. It's nice, I just can't play it! Location is Hampshire. I would get it couriered at buyer's cost, but I don't know how easy it would be to pack. And the stand, although it folds, is another world of pain entirely! Anyway, let's see those offers come flooding in! Mike

16. Some pics... It was a total pig getting line breaks in... I had to resort to pasting in Carriage Returns from Notepad, so if anybody out there can tell me what I was doing wrong, I'm all ears! Anyway... An overview: Front of headstock: Back of headstock: front of body: Back of body: Oblique view:
17. This could be your lucky day... I live in Basingstoke, and am on the look out for a MM... Incidentally, I have a nearly new Ray35. Interested? Mike
18. Price drop to £575. Can't get the website to update the number in the header. Oh well... So, a practically brand new Ray35, personally imported by Yours Truly from the States in the summer. It's honey blonde, and has been gigged maybe 4 times. So why am I selling? Simples... After 30 years of playing 4 strings, I have discovered that I can't get my tiny brain (hands are big enough!) around the concept of an extra string. So who wants to grab a bargain? ! It is in Basingstoke, Hampshire, and I am happy to ship, splitting the cost with the lucky buyer. Alternatively, I can travel ca. 50 miles radius for £10 fuel... G'wan g'wan g'wan, you know you want it...! Mike
