1. Just before I went on holiday I read a thread that took me to a custom builder (in Devon - I think) who re-sells vintage guitars/basses but also builds what look to be amazing vintage 'Fender' basses. I can't find the thread - or the web site in my history. Can anyone prompt my ailing brain and remind me of the site/builder. It seemed a few of you owned/had played these and were thoroughly recommending them. Cheers in advance - Dave.
2. Price drop - £20 posted for this vintage beauty!!!
3. Big thumbs up for David Wilson - in Hexham, near the top of the original list - http://www.dwilsonguitars.com. Just set up my Jazz with a little fit of fret trimming and the like and it's playing better than ever. Nice river walk along the Tyne while your waiting too!!! Lovely bloke too - we could have talked basses all year....

8. Finally clearing out some gear.... Zoom 506 - home use only - still in original box! Price drop - £20 posted in the UK.
9. Bridge cover looks way cool - but limits your palm mute options - which I couldn't live with! Would always say black - but those pearl pics have me sold!
10. Could anyone who already has a Cog T65 Octave/Filter/etc pedal pop up a demo....please.....
11. Just got a 3rd Gen BB2....here are initial thoughts.... It has at least the same 'air' in the sound as the Markbass 15 I nearly bought 6/7 years ago and more punch/poke than the Markbass 12 I walked away (and have been totally happy) with. It has a big bottom that sits beautifully in the mix w/out need for lots of volume. Honest sounding - you get what you put in. Best bit so far is the transient response. Things I thought I just couldn't quite execute, or had previously sounded a tiny bit mushy were suddenly flying out of the speaker exactly as intended with fabulous clarity! Only had the pedal board through it while practicing - but it really allows fx to 'sound' with great clarity. You should definitely try one out. I've 'sold' a good few Markbass bits and pieces over the past 5 years - will be interesting to see if the same happens with Barefaced cabs!
12. After nearly 20 years on 6-strings (an Ibanez, then a Yamaha TRB-6) an engineer bought his new American Standard Jazz to a session. I played it on a couple of tunes and within 6 days had bought a 2010 Highway One, to which I added a Hipshot D-tuner. That was just over 2 years ago and I can honestly l say I have never been happier with a bass. It just seems to work on anything. So embrace the slab - it looks tiny on me (compared to the TRB)! Keep 'em peeled for a Highway One - they seem to go on here for about £400-450....total bargain.
13. Where are you? Are you shipping or is it collection only?
14. I like the platform on the Swann and the fact it has no lip around the edge. It is also seriously meaty and therefore quite heavy! There seems to be some noise about the Iron Ether Xerograph (http://ironether.com/pedals/xerograph/) Low Pass Filter which is proper pedal sized. I've not had a go on one tho. Only limitation seems to be you can only control the Frequency (Cutoff on the Moog) with an expression pedal - whereas the Moog lets you control all 4 of the controls with 4 pedals....! IMO the Cutoff is the most useful parameter to control in this way - so its potentially not much of a drawback. Tho I am getting some good stuff using a second expression pedal on the Amount parameter.
15. With a new Cog 66 and a complete re-route (with help from: http://sheponbass.co...e-to-start.html) I thought I'd better post a pic. Chain is: Polytune mini > LS2 Send B > OC2 > MicroPog > Bass Big Muff > Cog 66 > 3Leaf GR2 > MF LPF (with Roland EV5 controlling the Cutoff) > Frequency Analyzer > CE2B > Carbon Copy > Return B LS2 > Ditto LS2 loop A goes straight back into the return - giving me a clean signal to blend with the effected chain. It's on a Swann board with a raised platform hiding all the power gubbins.
