  1. Jazz bass body made from 2 piece matched American alder finished in durable high gloss polyurethane with standard Fender neck pocket. Weighing in at 2.5kg.

Black gloss finish has some adhesive where a ramp was fitted which I will remove. Other than that it has a few swirls in the finish but it's difficult to know whether that is from the finishing or from the previous owner polishing it.

    No dings or scratches.

    Thanks for looking

  2. Up for sale are these barely used Bartolini B Axis hum cancelling pickups. According to Bartolini these have a rep for being super punchy, bright but warm too and having outstanding articulation. They also feature an asymmetrical magnetic field to better capture string vibration.

Immaculate condition and not seen a lot of action.

    Thanks for looking

  3. Up for sale is this immaculate and little used John East J Tone preamp.

This is one of John's more recent preamps which has a fully passive signal path and features a volume / blend, bass / treble and passive tone control with push/ pull active bypass on the tone control. Bass can be either boost only or boost / cut - again controlled under the hood.

It features a treble and a bass voicing wheel under the hood and pickup gain control. Screw in terminals make hooking up the pickups a doddle.

Wonderful East tones from a drop in jazz plate.

    Thanks for looking.20220806_213844.thumb.jpg.2ba78ff33cd48ebd096209faf579116a.jpg

Once again. No idea what this thread is about. 😆

The advert said the bass had a finger lamp. It should have said ramp and I remembered Benny Hill’s inappropriate Chinese accent sketch from way back. Happy Jack clearly remembers as Benny indeed said why you no risten (aka listen).

I had a Fender Jazz V DLX a few years back and the active pre on that used to distort a little when the battery was getting low.

I have changed the batteries but I went budget bob and swapped for used ones. I think I'll try brand new before any drama then but still wouldn't mind knowing what's recommended out there....

  6. Hello out there

I recently acquired a rather lovely USA Fender limited run FMT but am not too sure whether to upgrade the preamp.

Has anyone any experience of the Fender deluxe preamp board (part No 054137) and have you swapped it out to really liven up the sound of the bass?

It is ok but limited. No active / passive bypass, no mid frequency selection and boost only on the Eq.

I had thought about an East Uni pre 4 but wondered if there are other options out there that people have used.

It's not got a plate btw so not a drop in.

    Cheers

  7.

Up for sale is my immaculate 2005 Limited Edition Colour of the Year Blue Boy Rickenbacker 4003 Bass.

These were a limited run for 2004/05 and are, in my opinion, the prettiest of Rickenbacker basses. It plays great, sounds immense and comes in its original Rickenbacker hard shell case with all case candy.

Additionally it has the added bonus of an upgraded aluminium Hipshot bridge and a bezel insert in the rear pickup (£200 of upgrades). The original bridge and the treble pickup cover are included in the sale.

It has one tiny chip on the headstock which has been filled with colour matched paint and if I didn't mention it you probably would never notice it. Other than that it is in immaculate condition and will benefit from a polish, fret polish and set up prior to being shipped.

I’m only selling as I finally got myself the bass I wanted from being 14; a Jetglo 4001. Quite why I waited 40 years is beyond me....

On shipping, I'm happy to ship anywhere and as it's a rare bass I can offer worldwide shipping.

As well as shipping, it can be viewed on the Wirral, I can drive to deliver within around 50 miles or can meet up.

    Thanks for looking
