  1. Bought a head off of James today. We met halfway at a service station, took it home and all good. I echo all of the above comments, great guy to deal with, very knowledgeable, deal with confidence. Great to meet you James, thanks again.

Hi,  have a question. Is the John east stuff active? If so where is the battery located?

And if I was to come and collect (I live in Glasgow 5 hours away) would you be willing to maybe drive up a wee bit up the road? (maybe 45 mins to an hour and meet up)

    Cheers

Hi yes it’s active and the battery is located in the cavity behind the pots.

Yes could do a meet if need be. 😊

I've only played it in the house, so haven't cranked it up.

I found it really confusing at first, but figured out you have to turn down the FX volume to zero.

I found 2 sounds which really work for me ("Red 96" = SWR Red Head & "Blue 70 Plus" = SVT-VR Plus) and I split the signal at my pedalboard, so a clean goes to one channel and the effects to the other.

I've still got to do a bit more to get to grips with it, though.

I might try my Ric in stereo to it at some point.

I didn’t know you could run two inputs simultaneously, I’ve only plugged into one and used the mix.

The SWR is one of my favourite settings, has a huge sound in the band mix.

I have one of these and I quite like it.

I pugged in a computer and set option 1 on each channel to one I like, turned off the builtin FX and it sounds rather good.

I find it’s the blend options between the different amps that set it apart. The Ampeg and Sansamp blend are nice. There is many combinations you could use, I just prefer a straight vol/gain/eq ;)

  5. Bought this recently but I am struggling with all the bells and whistles on it and I prefer something with a straight baked in sound with a volume, gain and eq (same way as I am happy with a simple vol/tone on a passive bass). If you like all the options then this head is fantastic. 12 different amp modellers to choose from with independent eq, gain and volume. What sets this amp apart is the ability to mix the two channels so there is a lot of tonal options available. The software which is also available allows you to swap and change the effects too (I am no computer whizz but it is pretty simple to use if you enjoy tweaking) Chorus, Compresssor, Envelope Filter etc.

Fantastic condition with just some velcro underneath where it had been previously rackmounted.

Includes a hardcase and a USB cable to hook it up to your computer.

    Collection or meet preferable.

  6. Possibly one of the nicest playing and sounding basses i've owned, but unfortunately due to a hand injury i'm struggling to play the longer 35 scale for prolonged periods and I find myself using my four string P bass for gigs as it is more comfortable.

Hugely versatile as has been upgraded with a John East pre and Bartolini pickups, I don't think you can get a bad sound out of it.

Only fault I can see is some marks on the end of the headstock which I have photographed, otherwise it's in pristine condition throughout. i have the original passive pots and pickups too for this.

Collection only or happy to meet within a reasonable distance.

Possibly trade for a decent P bass.

    Cheers :)

  7. Full functioning PA and lighting system now surplus to requirements as we are not playing as many gigs anymore. Selling as a complete job lot. Includes
2 x EV sx200 passive tops (including leather cases)
    2 x EV sb120 passive subs
    2 x EV sb121 passive subs
Dynacord Powermate 1000 powered mixing desk (including flightcase)
2 x monitors (handbuilt by a local professional audio company)
1 x Thomann The t.amp E-800 (To drive the monitors, only roughly 2 years old and half a dozen gigs (flightcase not included))
    2 stands for the tops
1 stand for the lighting (damaged but does the job) plus t bar.
2 x stage lights with controller (flightcase included)
A bag of assorted XLR leads, speakons etc to run the whole system.
Everything is here to do a gig, it’s served us very well but since we do very little gigs and a lot of the ones we do have in house then this great system is reluctantly up for sale. If you need any more information please get in touch 🙂

  8. Bought a Lakland DJ5 off of Steff yesterday, an absolute gem of an instrument which looks and plays beautifully. He even travelled up from London to deliver it safely. A top bloke and very knowledgeable. Do not hesitate to deal with him.
