  1. I do not need another Shuker, I do not need another Shuker 😂😂

Fantastic basses and this one looks sublime!  Weight and balance great and they play beautifully. This one represents a huge discount over a new one - GLWTS a although I doubt you’ll need it !

  2. Ok, so after further information, this is definitely for a Precision Bass and a lovely original Custom Shop case it is. You can't buy these separately and they only come with custom shop basses, I think at a cost of around £300. I bought it thinking it would also fit a jazz bass, but now its pretty obvious with the neck support straight up the middle that it will only fit a P Bass - Doh !!

The search for a Custom Shop Jazz case continues - meanwhile you P bass owners, get yourself a lovely hard case. I don't know, but suspect it is most suited to a 4 string P.

PM me if you need more info.

My MIA P bass is 117cm long (including the strap button) and 32.5cm wide.

I also have a non-fender Telecaster style guitar which is 20cm shorter but the body width is the same as the bass.

I think a Jazz bass, allowing for the offset body is a couple of centimetres longer than the P bass.

Based on your measurements I would say the case will fit a P bass.

That’s really helpful - thanks! Yes my jazz basses are 121/123cms long and a fair bit wider! Silly me!

I’ll change the subject to “P” bass case. It would clearly be far too long for a guitar. Thanks again.

  4. Up for sale is a beautiful genuine Fender Custom Shop case for the Precision Bass

For all intents and purposes it is new but this is one tiny mark you might just see in the last picture. All the locks work and the key is there too.

internal dimensions width 32cm and 118cm to the bottom of the strap button. These dimensions are without "compressing" the bit in the middle designed to hold the body, so I think it would compress to give a width of 32.5/33cm. Can supply more  dimensions on request.

So if you have a custom shop Precision Bass and would like a hard case to match, this is for you.  As the ordinary cases are £149 I reckon this Custom Shop version is a bargain.

Looking to get back what I mistakenly paid for it as I thought it fitted Jazz basses - gutted !!

Collection in Essex or Central London welcome .Can also ship at buyers cost.

  5. NOW £50 - Got this in a trade recently but unfortunately it doesn’t quite fit my unusually long Custom Shop bass - Schoolboy error!

it’s a great quality SKB case like this one: https://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/SKB-SCFB4-Electric-Universal-Bass-Soft-Case-EPS-Foam/ELO?_gl=1*1qyt8pj*_up*MQ..&gclid=CjwKCAiA1JGRBhBSEiwAxXblwSVNhfp-rXIFbHiI6SDGys3n9jDQtrt5nmoWktchEJoDhg0T-H7TwxoCZz0QAvD_BwE

Pictured comfortably fitting my Shuker and my Marcus Miller US5 just fits, but my Reggie Hamilton 5 is a tight fit.

Super lightweight plush interior with compartment, shoulder straps etc. like new condition.

Don’t want to post but in Central London every week and can meet up round m25 anywhere between M1-Dartford Bridge

    Cheers

I’ve come close to getting a Schecter over the last year. Very nice basses and I like the 35” scale in particular. Very few “Diamond P5s” about too.

  7. Right, so the pickguard is back from www.tinytone, and I decided to get a Black Pearl as well as Black - so which do my fellow basschatters think looks best?  And also a purely gratuitous photo of "Reggie & Marcus" - always interesting how "perfect" Marcus looks here, when in fact he is covered in little dings, scratches etc.

The other things I've recently noticed since Reggie arrived is that he's got 22 frets compared to MM's 21 and also the bridge is mounted a little further forward on the body. Tonally of course they are chalk and cheese with MM having bass and treble "boost only" and pickup volume/volume, whereas Reggie has 3 band cut/boost and a volume/pickup pan. Both have active/passive switching and passive tone.

Anyway, send in your votes for the pickguard choice! (I'm leaning towards the black pearl....!)

Very nice, but I say keep the tort.

ha ha !! Well I’ll post pics with both when I get them back then we can have a vote!!!

    Ok the weight - a bit of digging around the web and it is probably;

That must be the lightest Fender Jazz 5 ever! I really like the tort personally. As it came from Austria, did you have to pay duty?

Yes, very light indeed - don't know why!  - I try and seek out the lighter stuff. My Marcus Miller 5er is a respectable 4.1kg

Sadly I did have to pay duty - but I had factored that into what I paid.

Duty was the "standard" 20% and charged by the UPS courier (who I know far too well now!!) when he arrived at my front  door - paid it by cheque!!   It seems at the moment that sellers in Europe have to declare the value of the item for customs duty purposes although courier firm  MBE (who I rate highly) said this was only if the value was over €1,000.

Some people might think it mad to declare the actual value, but I try and "do the right thing" until the stupidity of charging VAT on secondhand goods ends !!:angry2:
