1. Lovely lightweight Violin bass. Once played this for 2.5 hours solid when an idiot DJ failed to show up a wedding ! In excellent condition, comes with really attractive beige Hofner case, which has one mark on it. Fitted with Pyramid Gold flatwound strings for that classic vibe sound. I travel regularly between Cardiff & Pembrokeshire, the bass can be seen in either location.
2. I bought this after reading all the love for these basses on the forums here, and was not disappointed. Sad to sell it really but not being in the first flush of youth I now have arthritis in my little finger and consequently I find my Jazz bass easier to play with 3 fingers ... In excellent (factory) road worn condition, I don't think there are any marks on it that aren't meant to be there. It's reasonably light weight, coming in at 3.7kg. I travel regularly between Cardiff and Pembrokeshire, so the bass can be seen in either location.
3. Thanks for the update - the mods sound really interesting. The satin finish on the neck seemed really nice on the one I played ... I think I’m going to have to back and buy it ... seemed similar to the neck I played on an American Performer @£1k!
4. Did you carry out any mods ? I’ve just played one of these and really like it ...
5. the inlay dots don't weigh much more than a few full stops ....
6. On offer here is a lightweight Yamaha RBX A2. The only thing that put me off these bases was the lack of inlays on the neck, so I had a luthier fit abalone dots. I bought the bass from a follow basschatter for £225, and spent £100 on the neck. I also added a Fender original (plastic!) thumbrest. So looking to get back what I spent on it. Usual light marks commensurate with use, including a small ding on the inside of the top cutaway, not readily visible. One of the hinges of the 9v battery holder is broken, but it still keeps the battery in place. It's not an active bass - the battery is only for the LEDs on the dials. I thought this was a gimmick, but is actually quite useful when playing live, a glance at the brightness of the LED shows how much is dialed in. Can post for £16.50. Has recent set of flatwounds on, decent quality, can't remember if they are La Bella or D'Addario. Will consider trade for a Precision or Yamaha BB. Thanks for looking. 8. On offer here is my wonderfully light Hofner voilin bass. No nasty scratches or marks. The original machine heads have been replaced by the former owner - have tried to show this in one of the pictures, not a perfect fit with the original screw holes. Great classic tone, comes fitted with a set of Pyramid flatwound strings - put them on about 6 months ago, so plenty of life left in them yet! I'm based in Pembrokeshire, where you can try it out. You can collect it from me in work in Cardiff, or I can post for £25. The case is a bit rough but serviceable. The new tuning pegs make it a snug fit at the top of the case. Sorry - can't upload as many pictures as I wanted - says I have reached a limit for some reason ....
9. Hi, where are you based? thanks Mike
10. Hi basolas Yes - I haven't taken the neck off to check the serial no, and have had no reason the adjust the truss rod. The neck is straight and plays really well. I think the only things that aren't original are the chrome bridge and pick up covers which I have taken off anyway. thanks Mike
11. Regrettably I need funds to buy some lightweight amplification, so am reluctantly putting this one up for sale. It's the nicest Precision I have played, a Fender Made in Japan E790XXX which according to the Fender website puts its year of manufacture at being between 1984 and 1987. When I bought it, I went to the vendor's house to buy a USA-made one and walked away with this one instead - on the basis that it was a lot nicer. It has one ding underneath and a couple of lighter marks to the bottom of the guitar underneath the volume and tone pots not really visible in the pictures. A few age-commensurate marks to the headstock and a circular scratch from a rogue string. A previous owner has put ash trays on it and made one hole too many in the scratch plate. The chrome on the tone and volume pots are discoloured as is common with these models. I can ship it to the UK mainland for £29. The bass weights 9lbs 4oz on my fishing scales. I live in Pembrokeshire in West Wales, where you are welcome to try it out. I work in Cardiff, so the bass can be collected from me there. 12. thanks guys - the colour is really nice and changes under different lighting. I suspect the colour in the pics above has more to do with the saturation settings of my Nikon camera!
13. With real regret I am listing this one, but I need to secure some funds for a lightweight amp.... This is my Bass Collection Bruce Thomas bass, a really nice guitar to play and relatively light compared to some Precisions. Plenty about these online. This one has no nasty scratches or dents. I'm looking for £375 - they cost £500 new. The salmon pink colour gets lots of compliments! I can post it in the supplied Bass Collection cardboard box - £25 to the UK mainland, or the buyer can collect from me in Cardiff most weekdays or Pembrokeshire most weekends.
14. can you tell me the weight please? Mike
15. Thanks Marvin, the more I'm trying other basses, the more second thoughts I'm having !
16.
These are very, very nice basses. If my GAS jar wasn't empty I'd be having this one, they are that nice. GLWTS and have a bump for a gorgeous bass
