Now sold pending the usual. Thanks to all those that expressed an interest. I will really miss this bass but in the end (because I'm so crap on 5ers) my SR4 won the battle to stay in the MTB bass family.

Lovely bass Nick,
and yes......you are fickle (nearly as much as me) -

I dare u to say that on the mm forum!

Not had this long but a 4 stringer that I want to 'bond' with has come up and this would need to be sold to fund it.
It's a 2002 model, absolutely mint - not a mark on it. Matching headstock - again not even the normal top of the headstock ding to it. Comes with MM HSC - again in good nick. Time is of the essence with this so I'm pricing to sell - £775 - I'll even throw in set of EB Slinkies (new - unopened) and if the buyer collects, a set of Thomastik Infeld Flats.
Cheers, Mart -

It would not surprise me if that didn't happen one day! -

............... That Stingrays Very Sexiful Bond San!
...BUMP!
Many thanks my Mancunian friend.
After a lot of soul searching, I've decided that, for the moment this SR4 will be staying with me. If it was a pound lighter it it would be my ideal bass, but I guess that's close enough for Jazz - at least until I can identify that elusive something that could replace it.
The P bass though looks like it will be changing colour and losing some frets.... -
Having had a brief plonk on this beast yesterday I can fully confirm how truly awesome it is. If I wasn't such an 'average' bassist and could stop hitting all the wrong notes just because it doesn't have a head this bass would have been emigrating to the socialist republic of South Yorkshire as we speak.
I've had lots of other basses but for me nothing cuts it like an S2.

Except maybe a Streamline eh Rich?
Rich is indeed telling the truth - just wish I could get used to headless..... -
Sorry mate - the only 5er I've ever got on with is a SR5 and I'm sorted in that repect. Thanks for the offer tho.

Hmmm...I can see the Market is a bit flooded with rays and precisions at the mo so I'll give this one last bump before shelving the idea for a while.
-
Cheers Rich.
'Flogging a dead horse (horses)' type bump -
A sort of 'I'm out for the rest of the afternoon so I'll bump this now' type bump.
Well. I got the strings, put them on... annd i cant get on with the scale length, I am too engrained in the 34inch way of doing things. So i will be moving this on. Its a real shame as its a really really nicely constructed bass. Really deep sound.
35" isn't for everyone Rob. I perservered for months on a Lakky DJ5 before finally giving up. The SR5 isn't as versatile but it is so muh more natural to play to me. Don't look on it as a defeat. Also the low B on the SR5 seems just as good to me as it was on the 35". -
This is a feeler at this stage. I thought I had my bass collection well and truly sorted but then a change of band circumstances comes and rains on the proverbial parade. Due to this I'm looking to consolidate 2 really good 4 stringers into 1 exceptional one leaving me with just one 4er and one 5er (maybe then they'll be room for a mandolin squeezed between the boxes).
The MIA P is one of the nicest P's I've played. Until this band situation I was looking to trade this for a fretless Jazz - that's a bit of a redundant thought now.
This is black on black, a 2004 MIA model (with the redundant S1 - I just keep it in P mode) and is in great condition with just a couple of nicks in the headstock and some minor lacquer scratches which you'd really need to look for. HSC and case candy is intact. I'd be looking for £550 for this.
The Ray4 is metallic red (sorry don't know the paint name), a 2005 3EQ version with maple board. The neck has a nice flamed figuring which isn't always present on a modern Ray. I don't have the HSC for this bass so it would be provided with a new Warwick Rockbag. Because of this it's collection or meet up only and £600ish. The condition is mint apart from a small lacquer scuff on the back of the lower horn whichwas there when I got it.
Cheers, Mart -
Nah, I wanna trade with him, then you can buy my Streamline, LOL!
Rich,
Thought we'd agreed I had first dibs on this......give me warning, I need to sell at least 2 basses to buy it. One of them's a Musicman so that'd be 3 months to sell........ -
I'll paint the RW neck on my 2004 P bass beige and add a couple of 1 pound lead weights into the body cavity if that'll help?
Cheers,
Mart -

Very nice Rich. Unfortunately I don't have 4 figure spare cash lying around. Think the Mrs has spent all my cash on a cruise....
Status out of fashion again ?

Having (just about) acquired the quirky looking Streamline from Rich I can understand some of the comments in this thread.
Like many I am swayed by looks, but I can honestly say I don't give a toss about fashion (e.g. I have never owned a Black Ric 4003 and never will). I'm buying the SLine because it's light, sounds great, balances well and is built well. For bands that I (may) play in that find it's looks sort of meh then I'm quite happy to drag out the Ray4 or MIA P (but my shoulder won't be).
