  1. I'm not familiar with that MIDI controller, but you have to program the switch to send the relevant MIDI message to scroll up and down. Regarding the Tuner/Tap Tempo footswitch, go to the Footswitch settings in the Global Settings, you can then change FS3 to "Stomp 3".

... the inputs the lead goes into are XLR, hence the question. Are the outs both balanced on the HX Stomp (ie just using L/Mono output).

I’ve changed from a Classic Jr to a Nano so have no room for a DI on the board anymore (it’s now just the HX Stomp with an Aguilar Filtertwin and a Boss OC2 in each of the FX Loops). My old board went into a Radial JDi from the L/Mono output.

As @Jack said, unless you use a TRS to XLR adaptor, there is absolutely no benefit of using an adaptor in the first place. The outs of the Stomp are both balanced, but to take advantage of that fact, you would need to use a TRS adaptor.

  3. Here’s an example of one of my charts:

I try to keep the form/structure/layout as neat as I can. Always favour new sections starting on the left, as opposed to mid-way through a line. A lot easier to find where you are if you get lost, as you can just scan the left side of the page as opposed to every bar. Double bar lines at the end of each ‘section’. Labels of Chorus/Verse/Bridge etc.

I mean I definitely am not an authority on writing charts - I learnt the same way you have. But after doing it for a while you pick up on little tips and tricks that help you - thinking in the way described earlier (what you’d want to be presented with on a gig) is a big help. The aim of reading is to make it easy for the player to play a tune they may never have heard, with little/no rehearsal time. You need just the right amount of information on the page. Not too much to overwhelm the player, but not too little that the player is left in the dark with how to approach a song they’ve never heard.

Feel free to PM me if I can be of any help!

    My main rule is...

”if I was sight-reading this on a gig (I.e never seen it in my life) what would be easier to read...”

...this includes not only rhythmic notation, but actual layout on the page, use of repeats, D.S’s, other structural notes, chord symbols etc etc.

THIS!! Layout etc is just as important as the rest of the info on the page.

  5. Hastily slapped this together as I won't get a chance now before Saturday's gig, and I wanted to get the Morningstar ML5 wired up. Only wired up two loops, and will be spending tomorrow programming all the patches for the board, but I can see some pretty cool possibilities here already!

    Bass > Cali76 > ML5 > HX Stomp

    Loop C - Aguilar Octamizer
Loop E - Dr Scientist Dusk
HX Stomp FX Loop - Pickle/Muff DIY build (Under the top tier)

    MIDI chain - MC8 > Hx Stomp > ML5 > Dusk

Mission Expressionator connects the Dunlop Mini Expression to the Stomp, MC8, and Dusk

Powered by 2 GigRig Generators (One for the Stomp, the other for everything else)

But in chords rules get bent because it doesn't make sense when the root note isn't the lowest note i.e. it's an inversion  (as far as I can tell). For me adding the low 'E' to a C chord  would be interpreted as doubling up the third with a low bass. I would write C(E) rather than Cm6 as that would be C-E-A♭ rather than E-C-E-G

You are correct. If the chord is still C, and the bass player is simply playing an E underneath it, then yes it would be C 1st Inversion, which you would see written as C/E (C over E). Cm6 is another chord entirely.
