I think that applies more to amps where you're generating a bit more dirt in the amp itself, so you want that coloured sound to be effected. It's all personal preference though. Try it and see if you like it. I found it wasn't worth the extra cabling required.
Precisely this. If the Amp is imparting an integral part of your tone, then it stands to reason that you might want certain effects to colour the tone you’re getting from the front end of the amp, ie delay, modulation etc.
If the amp is literally just amplifying your board tones, chuck it all into the front of the amp.

Met Peter today in Sheffield to buy his SA Spectrum. Hand delivered to the venue i’m playing, and a nice chat about pedals and synths! Top marks. Thanks again Peter!

Yes, the MC looks great, but it's pricey. Can I achieve what I want with the MC3?
Yes should be possible with the MC3

Hey everyone, I've a specific query.
I have a Stomp, with an extra 2-button footswitch, and my backing track player controls it via MIDI with a CME WIDI master. I want to replace the footswitch with a MIDI controller, so that I can use the EXP/FS socket for an EXP pedal. I don't want to lose the WIDI, though. How can I have my BT player still control the Stomp, while also allowing me to manually override it with a MIDI foot controller?
I was thinking of taking a punt on the MVave controller, it's only a few quid. Has anyone else tried something similar?
If you went with a Morningstar controller, you could plug the expression pedal into that, and then the expression would be sent via MIDI. The CME could plug into the Morningstar, which would just become part of the MIDI chain

What an excellent deal! If I didn't already have two of these I'd be biting your arm off! This won't last long.

Isn’t the left knob of the BOD their take on a oc2 type octaver and the right knob a EBS style octaver?
That's my take on it. The "Growl" knob is the "pokey/synthy" type of octave, the "Girth" is the more organic "fat/sub" kind of octave. Really useful having them on separate knobs and being able to fine tune the amount of each. The Aguilar Octamizer does the same kind of thing, but they are combined onto one knob as a "filter" that goes from subby and fat, to more synthy and pokey as you dial it up. Both pedals are fantastic, and I really like the mid boost switch on the MXR. I went for the Aguilar and love it so much I bought a second one, like Steve said, for being able to have blended and sub only options at my feet without having to change settings.

Yeah, the gain wasn't a really a problem on mine, and not a volume drop other than certain settings:
"I think for the Band Pass has some decent sounds if Range is set 'low', but for me the gain needs to be low to get a decent sound with the drive set 'up' - meaning the output is quiet. Drive 'down' can sound good if peak is set low and gain high, then it has a decent volume and nice squish, clean blend with it would be useful though."
If it's anything like my my old original Musitronics Mutron III it inverts the phase, so a clean blend can actually make things worse, unless you have something like the Xotic X-Blender that has a polarity switch to flip it back again!

Bought Ken's Moog Little Phatty and he was absolutely great to deal with. Top bloke!

Would prefer to sell all together as one unit at the moment. Will be going up on eBay soon.

These look great. Very tempting!

Here is a literally as new, never gigged Kemper unpowered Rack and Remote in a Thon double door case. Very, very light use at home only. I bought the rack case for it, and then barely used it once i’d racked it up as i’m away on tour.
Both Kemper and remote still have their original boxes, and still have the plastic peels on their respective screens.
This is a great unit, with profiles of virtually every amp/di box you can think of available. Or you can even profile your own!
Only selling as it’s not getting used while I’m away on tour, and I need the space at home.
This combo would be £1671 from Thomann, so save yourself £500 on exactly what you would get if you ordered them new!

You know the time you first solder a project together, and it works, and it sounds great, and it makes up for all the "oh crap why did I make it in such a small enclosure?" moments...
Prunes and Custard in a Gorva M45 (5mm or so wider than 1590A) with top jacks. Printed by Gojira...
I think I've missed the wire earthing the input when off, and the bass cut switch might actually be on in the down position... (but it's fairly subtle)
But I'm pretty happy with that.
Camera died before I could show what top jacks look like... It's also tiny.Got parts and enclosures for another 5
Oh and after 10+ years my solder sucker broke.Great work! Would love to compare one to my original!

I suspect that now I would format it more tidily. Even number of bars per line, chords above the bars, repeat symbols, etc
Yes this is the kind of thing I was getting at. While the example above was readable, I would try and even out the number of bars per line etc to make it even easier to read.
Writing out quick charts for yourself is fine, but if I were to have other players reading it (a dep, or doing arrangements for someone else for example), I’d want everything as clear and concise as possible to minimise the chances of any mishaps on the gig.

Can you explain what is wrong with this, my friend? Like you, I am self taught and, when I look at old charts I have written out, some of which are very long and complicated, a little piece of me dies inside! Some of my problems relate to learning how to make Sibelius work but I cannot see what is wrong with the above which obviously you can!
My first thought is layout. Physical geography of the chart is just as important as what’s actually in it music-wise. Even if all the notes are right, a chart is no good if it’s a struggle to read on the gig.

I’ve been interested in getting a Subspace - looks a great pedal! I saw Ian King using it on a YouTube video he did about his pedalboard for his BBC NYE show and I’ve been down a YouTube rabbit hole on it a couple of times, I really fancy one
Quite possibly the finest overdrive for bass. I absolutely love mine!

Hi all! Recently picked up this wonderful bass on here.
With the unusual pickup arrangement, I think I’d like to compliment it with a slightly more interesting finish than sunburst. Nothing TOO outlandish, something subtle but still eye catching (oxymoron, I know).
A lot of the colours I like (pastel shades, sea foam green, daphne blue etc) I think look better with a darker fingerboard like rosewood or ebony, so I think a darker body colour might be nice to contrast/compliment the maple fingerboard on this particular bass. Having said that, i’d welcome any and all suggestions!
On to my second question - anyone have any suggestions/experience/recommendations on who I can get to do said refin? Thanks in advance for your input!

Here we have probably the best value for money rackmount mixer/IEM rig there is.
Inside the rack is:
Behringer X32 Rack
Behringer S16 Stage Box
Behringer P16D
The rack case has had an IEC input mounted on one side, so you can literally take the rack lids off and plug power into the side, and you’re ready to go.
32 XLR inputs, 16 XLR outputs across the 2 units (Mixer/stage box), as well as various 1/4” Aux ins and outs. The P16D can be used with Behringers powerplay monitor units, allowing musicians to have stereo monitor mixes without taking up any of the XLR outputs.
Add your own router, and everyone in the band can connect to it with an iPad/iPhone and the X32 app, allowing everyone to mix their own IEMs, and the sound man to mix FOH from an iPad out front, drastically reducing sound check times.
Also a great unit to have in the studio to record and track multiple instruments. It has the USB card installed so it can be used as a 32 In/32 Out audio interface. Used with a laptop you can record your live gigs, while still taking care of FOH and everyone’s monitoring. It really is a great bit of kit!I’ve used X32’s (not this one) on all levels of gigs, from small functions to large theatres, and they are exceptional value for money.
This particular unit has only done 3 gigs with me since I bought it, and was originally a “backup X32” rig of the guy I bought it from. I bought it to use as an IEM rig for a project I was involved with that never ended up doing much live stuff, and I kept it around just in case as it’s such a handy bit of gear to have. It’s in excellent condition, with the only thing of note being the little tab on the XLR Input 8 being missing. The input still works perfectly.
If you or your band are looking to take the plunge into the world of IEM’s, you can’t go wrong with these.

Best overdrive/distortion i’ve come across. Does everything from clean boost/eq to all out fuzz, and does it well 👍
