@epoxyjazzbass it is a good price indeed, I got it from a three-way deal (that is a long story), and I'm putting it back for sale at the price it was traded for.
That will be a great deal for the one who likes jazz basses -
-
Graham, it is excellent indeed, but is too much of a jazz bass for me !
I don't know how they do that, but it resonates like a genuine 40+ year-old instrument. -
NOW SOLD
this high end Japanese made Jazz Bass.
VanZandt basses are crafted by PGM - they also build the well regarded Moon guitars - and use the American made Van Zandt pickups.
Alder body
Nitro lacquer
Rosewood fingerboard
Clay dot inlays
38mm at nut (oil finished bone)
More detail can be found here : https://www.taurus-corpo.com/vanzandt-bass
This is a rather lightweight instrument, less than 4kg (I'll double-check if needed), very resonant with loads of sustain and a very deep sound.
Low action at the moment.I got it from a trade on this forum a few months ago, and although it really is a superb bass, I prefer broader necks and Precision pickups.
I'm based in Northern France and happen to be in London and Kent once in a while.
Comes with a generic flight case. Shipping is not a problem
Not especially looking for a trade, but you never know (especially if Mick wants to part with the green Overwater contemporary Jazz again !!)- 1

Bump for an excellent bass guitar.
Vintage Japanese Yamaha BBs are top-notch. -
Have completed a three-way deal with Three and another basschatter, and we are all happy with it !
Good communications and Loz did make the payment very rapidly.
Many thanks ! -
Did a three-way deal with Grahamd and another basschatter, and all went really smoothly.
Graham even bought a new hardcase to ship the bass securely to me without any additional cost !
Great guy to deal with. -
Now sold !
(and buying the one I was proposed as a trade !)
That makes 3 happy basschatters in a single thread !

If anyone is interested, please be quick, I have an unexpected trade offer with a Japanese beauty I will not resist for long.
-
I can compare it with a 1973 American made Fender Precision I had and with a Japanese 70s reissue Precision 85US from 1993 I still have, but not with a Jazz I'm afraid.
I would say there are less overtones in the highs and the bass / low mids are thicker, wider on the Overwater and still remain precise when the tone is cut off. This is the reason why I have had stainless steel flatwounds on it, they really enhance that kick in the lung/stomach effect and do not kill the overtones that are not the essential character of the electronics of this bass.It was meant to sound in rather 50s.
This can certainly be modified a bit changing the height of the pickups.
Another difference is the superb finish of the back of the neck, really smooth, as on the Custom Jazz TheGreek has. -

For those who are interested, don't let the distance be an issue. Benoit is a top fella, he bought and sold me back my Overwater Custom Jazz. Both transactions were problem free.
Great guy to do business with...
Merci Mick !
And if ever you are selling the Overwater Custom Jazz back again, please do let me know !
I miss it a bit (and I'll probably miss the PJ at some point as well !)

Some really nice trade proposals so far, but I am favouring a straight sale at the moment.
Someone please buy the Fender P from DoddsNE ! -
I am based in Northern France, close to the Channel ports and the Eurostar, and do come over to London and the South East once in a while.

Is that a battery cover on the back of the body? If so, is there an active option (or has the bass been active at some point)? I’m not really an Overwater fan but this looks lovely
The battery cover at the back and all the necessary cavities have been made by Overwater in order to allow the addition of a preamp and all the wiring if any future owner fancied that.
You can turn this bass into an active beast without any structural modification if you wish !

Up for sale is this 2012 English-made Overwater Precision + Jazz in natural finish.
I bought it on this forum and it is in perfect condition.
Swamp ash body, maple neck and rather lightweight : 4kg only
String spacing : 19mm, I would say 42mm at nut
Set up with Bareknuckle '58 Split coil P and '60 PE J bass bridge coil
Stacked volume and tone knobs and electronics provided by KiOgon.Hipshot B style bridge and Ultra Lite tuners.
This bass provides a very deep but still articulate sound, and is strung with Fender flatwounds at the moment.
The build quality is excellent, and the finish on the neck is a real joy to play, but I can't justify keeping this beauty.Asking for £1000, delivered to your door in the original Overwater Hiscox case.
Trades ?
Sometimes the flesh is weak. -
What is the nut width ?
-
Great bass indeed, and you don't see them often.
-
Thanks for the details, you seem to know your ASAT specs !
-
The neck is (approx) 38mm at nut, 54mm at 12th fret and 62 at 21st fret.
What reference is that @Cuzzie ?
-
Not sure about this, I'll check.

Thanks,
Neck dive is not a problem indeed, there are two factory-set up strap locks on the bottom of the bass to choose from (see pic with the scratches).
The neck on this one is the thin version : 38mm
