Bought the Mutron III pedal. Arrived very quickly, packaged to withstand the clumsiest postie. Recommended seller, would buy from again 5 *****
Glad it arrived safely! Enjoy!

Super cool. They always seem universally liked by people that have owned them. Love the knobs, too. Enjoy that thing.

That ''Bass balls'' fuzz must be a dinozaur !!! 😜
I think it was made in the 90s so not that old (although I realise the 90s were actually ages ago even if they don’t feel it!). I just love that pedal, so simple but so flexible. It’s synthy, filter-y and phasery all at once.

That course is for university staff & students only, alas, otherwise I would totes have had some of that.
Thanks for the advice and offers of help, have found a small shop relatively close by in Huddersfield who didn't seem to think it'd be an issue to fix, they gave us a two week turnaround so hopefully I'll have some good news to share soon.
Let us know how it goes and who you used in Hudds, I’ve got a friend there so it would be good to know if a decent repair shop should I need anything!

Yeah give it a try - everyone says that’s what Bill Laswell does, and I have seen/read that Bootsy and Doug Wimbish use it like that too.

I’ve had every version now I think, they all sound quite similar but you know that squelch when you dig in and overload the input, this one sounds thickest. I found the sparkly ones could vary quite a bit unit to unit.
A lot of people say these with the sensitivity off gives the fattest sub sound on earth; I must admit I don’t use mine like that but it certainly does shake the foundations

I had the non + version and loved it. Sold it for cheap too, which I now regret of course.
They're really good filters - I have a non + version too but the footswitch is kaput I think (was intermittent for ages then stopped). Probably easy to fix but I don't think I'll ever get around to it! Yours for £50 + postage if you want it! It's in the big pine box

I've ended up with two of these. They are my favourite all time filter, even prefer it over the Musitronics original version which I also own. It's in great condition apart from a few scratches. Takes two 9V batteries or external power from 9 to 25V (I run mine at 18V from my power supply). True bypass, and if you use it with batteries, switching it 'off' means you don't need to unplug to avoid batt drain.
Any questions let me know - manual available here (this is the version with the internal DIP switches to adjust the response)
Cheers

Just saw this 1968 Mustang, ex Spirogyra. Good price for the condition I think

Just saw this '68 one, ex Spirogyra. Very good price for the provenance and vintage.

Slight update just to say I've been having an absolute blast with the band. These guys are super talented and it's definitely the right level of challenge for me to keep up with, and at the same time I have total freedom to craft my own lines. We have a gig coming up at what looks like a nice venue and a slot at the Nene Valley Rock Festival in Sept.
We've got two new tracks on the go, both about 10 minutes long(!) but with really nice bass potential. We practiced them as a group recently without keys which was enough to get the structure down, and then when Phil came back and added the keys on top - boom, what a difference. The track sounded so much fuller and 'warmer' with his tasteful synths underpinning everything.
Lead guitarist took this randomly, at our rehearsal space where the drummer uses an electric kit which is fine for here but his Yamaha acoustic kit sounded absolutely stunning at the last gig.
I'm using an Ampeg PF50T with 15" cab which I quite like actually, but with the vocals and backing singers I have to stand quite close to it so can't hear it as well as when I can walk out front a bit. But it sounds great and goes plenty loud for that room. You can't see the guitarists pedalboards which are MASSIVE (both using Quad Cortex things)
Cheers

Didn't realise this was put out by MuTron on their Instagram. I was thrown by the Musitronics trademark on the pedal.

Cheers folks, will give the universities a try and keep pestering anywhere that offers pedal repairs I guess.
It's not a fuzz face clone by any means, the base sound is like a richer, "creamier" muff but with a ton of tonal options and a gated, sputtery "rip" that can be blended in, along with a clean blend. Was surprised to see how relatively straightforward the circuit looks, I imagine some of those components may be fulfilling dual roles, hence the bafflement of everyone I've shown it to. There's certainly some strange mojo under the hood, but in a good way lol.
Here's the UoY workshop

I don't think you need to be a student to go, could be of interest

When we first opened the 'Wanted' forum, we had lots of people say they had been contacted by someone who - surprise surprise - had the exact item they were looking for, and did they want it?
I ended up making the forum only visible if you had at least one post on the forum which pretty much stopped it dead, but it has always been a bit awkward for genuine members. I'm wondering now whether it needs placing behind the subscription wall so that there's more assurance that offers are genuine. In the meantime perhaps a new warning banner is in order to encourage people to be especially vigilant when it comes to that type of PM, and to ask for pictures of the item with the username written on today's paper or something!
