Brilliant, what a find! I have found the https://www.vguitarforums.com/smf/index.php really helpful, some of the knowledgeable folk on there will be able to help I'm sure.

Odd - I would imagine that several people are in that boat too, so they will be able to sort it out easily enough.
I got a "Thankyou for your order" email, order #16354 (I am sure I refreshed more times than that), which says it will be 8 weeks, which is what they said in the original email, although they also said that they were sitting in factories around the world ready to go, which seems a contridiction as aliexpress seem to be able to ship something to me from china in a week for £1.20.
Edit - I also got an email just before that thanking me for setting up a stylophone account, which now I check has 1 order for a theremin saying 'processing' so probably good. I will expect it to turn up in the second week of october
I've emailed them but don't expect a reply for a while, no doubt that 8 week window is partly for them to work out who's actually bought one!

I ordered one but after the payment page I got a session expired error. The money has left my account but there’s no confirmation email. Hm.

You realise you'll end up with one Fender, three Ricks, and 28 Gibsons?
I thought it would be easy to find a Tbird

Wall Art, innit?
In all fairness, if he was asking a sensible price ($46 rather than $460) I'd prolly be interested.
I bought a 70s Fender J headstock (came with tuners) to hang on my wall 😆

Got a nano Q Tron today. Not much going control-wise but it does have a tone that I like. I used to have the big old 24v wooden box one, and I do miss it. The nano goes some way to scratching that itch.
Should I have gone for the Q Tron plus?
It does look nice and I want to try one - it’s a shame there’s no range control though. -
Excellent! It’s in the diary. Keen to support/help where/when possible. Just let me know @Goliath_FX 👍🏼👍🏼

It would be great to have one! York could suit those travelling by train. I could potentially find a venue in the city 🤔

I'll give it a go:
No matter what bass you get, you're gonna sound like you.
Out of interest @ped, out of your dream basses acquired, which one was your favourite?
I liked different things about each, but I think the one I was most happy with was the Celinder - it just absolutely nailed that 70s jazz bass slap sound. In terms of 'dreams' it absolutely was the exact sound I had in my head for that particular style. But I was never particularly keen on the jazz body shape. The Smith 5 was amazing and sounded perfect, but I din't find 5 strings as natural as 4s. Both these two were a bit tricky in a band situation, where each got a bit lost in the mix. Possibly something I could have addressed with amplification but I felt they were excellent studio instruments.
The Alembic 6 was way too heavy and I am even less comfortable on a 6 than a 5. Plus you whit that out and people think you're going to be absolutely shit hot, so it was writing cheques my body couldn't cash.
The Vigiers - had many, but the faves were the Excess and the 1988 passion, which was my number one for a looong time, having seen off everything else I have had in between. But I feel like it doesn't suit what I do now, my tastes and style have changed and I no longer feel like it's 'me'.
The Smith 4 was fantastic but I couldn't get the setup as nailed as I would have liked (I used to obsess over that more than I tend to now).
Stingrays are great but I found them hard to develop a 'voice' with - they sound lovely but somehow I never find them very expressive, no idea why. I keep thinking I'll try again.
The first two 'high end' basses I owned were a Pedulla MVP and a shell pink 57 reissue P bass. I certainly hadn't developed my tastes enough to appreciate them at the time, especially the P bass which I wish I still had. The Pedulla was amazing and sounded great, but I never 100% loved the shape. I think I sold that for a Marleaux.
Looking back, though, I don't think I've ever really lost much money along the way. Apart from that initial purchase of the Fender and Pedulla, I think I've generally traded my way through different things and loved the process. Probably lots more to come, but I've arrived in a happy place!
I think it's true what you say about sounding like you no matter what you play, but the bass makes you play a certain way, too.

I have been fortunate enough to have had most of my 'dream' basses, but it turned out that whilst I thought they would be the ultimate instrument, none of them actually were. Still, nice to have tried and learned a little about what I like from each of them. There's probably some deep philosophical point to be made about dreams vs reality but I'm not prepared to put my neck out and make it myself.

The 25b sounds quite different I think plus there’s quite a volume drop. Even the various versions of the 25 sound a bit different. Mainly the issue is a big resonant spike in the bass range as the filter closes so the best thing to do is run it before an HPF-

They do look pretty cool. I didn't realise they do a 2x10 version, the heaviest of the lot. Did you get a good deal? I have seen the 15" version for about £300 locally

What's the Fuzz Face like on bass? Compared to the Big muff? I'm interested because it's massive and in an impractical shaped box

my recollection is that is was more awkward than heavy - the cabinet is fairly substantial size so it was a bit of a lift to get it into the boot of the car.
Yes, I tried the 15 ages ago. Liked the sound, and the weight was OK, but side handles would have made it way easier. I think a combination of using the top handle and the ports on the back as grab holes worked quite well but the weight was quite off centre so it was fairly awkward. That said, with wheels it's fine and if you carry it all by yourself you'll only end up helping the drummer with his hardware.

I think P basses bring out the anti-fanbois more than the fanbois personally

I can also say the Ampeg V4B amp is a fantastic and loud amp and works great with rock stuff
Using the SVT212AV cab or two SVT112AV cabs make it a great rock band rig
Yeah if I was buying I'd be tempted but this one won't cost me anything so I'm looking forward to trying it. I have used Trace tube heads and Mesa 400+ a lot in the past, including SVT-CL and currently a PF50T. I've never tried an Orange, so it'll be cool to give it a go. I don't know if I can stomach the full matching orange cabs, and tbh I'm not even sure if the AD200 I'm getting is in an orange case, as they appear to come in black and sometimes white, too. I'll probably get it in a couple of weeks so will let you know!

If you're playing in a loud rock band, they're great. If not, I would look elsewhere.
Aye, I am at the moment - we have some semi big venue gigs coming up. Tbh my Blackstar combo and extension sound great so this is more of a curiosity really, having played various tube amps before. I'm interested to see if there really is something 'extra' or if it's rose tinted spectacles.

I'm surprised you say there's not much online about the AD200B? There's loads if you search. It's the best compromise between a sensible weight and giggable output all valve head still in production IMO. I'd recommend a pair of ceramic 210 or 112 cabs. There's just something about ceramics that neos don't have IME. There's no science behind my opinion, just my ownership experience with ceramic and neo Bergantino cabs. I'll never lift another 100lb cab but two 50lb are still manageable. The day I can't lift 50lbs, I'll know a 200 watt all valve amp isn't for me either.
Thanks, yes I’ve found quite a lot by searching but I don’t remember reading much about them in passing, maybe I just never noticed or before.Cab wise I’ve been looking at 4x10, 2x15 and maybe 2x12s it just depends on what’s nearby to be honest. I’m quite happy to bide my time. It looks like the Bergantino 410 works well with it but then I’m also tempted with a cheap Fender 4x10 I’ve seen locally. Like you say, 25kgs or thereabouts is ok for me.

100W Stoneham valve amp - small footprint, lighter weight
in Amps and Cabs
Posted
I’ve just caught up with the thread because I’m borrowing @johnbiffa’s YI200 (with matching neo 4x10). Good to see you on here @Stoneham I’m looking forward to testing the amp.
Cool that it fits under my desk, too!
