Thanks all, i was thinking it was the other way round. Pick ups first?

Hi all
Having traded with the excellent Frank from Belfast, i have a very nice Fender Jazz 70's reissue, but want to improve the tone and flexibility of the bass.
I want to upgrade the pick ups, and could really do with some good advice!
Also planning to fit the John East J-retro preamp.
Any thoughts or advice from the wise heads here, much appreciated!
Thanks!

I'd love to come out with something obscure and complex but for me it boils down to Bernard Edwards' line from Good Times.

Yes thats a great line! As is Greatest Dancer and We are Family!
Mine would be songs from when i was in my bass infancy in the 80's although you could fill a book with the wonderful technical skill of Wooten , King, etc etc.....
So its :
Japan(Mick Kahn) methods of swing
Or
Jaco Pastorius, from the Michel Colombier album, where he linked up with Herbie Hancock, Larry Graham etc...... -
Hi Frank, did i answer this fully? Apologies if not!
Its US made , a limited addition , as you can see on the neck plate, with the Hot Rod logo and serial number. I can email clearer pics.
In great condition, some inevitable swirls on the back, but no dings etc.
Cheers -
Love it! I want it.....
Need to sell my US Jazz Hot Rod first......... -
My Fender Jazz hot rod might be worth a look. Passive, p and j pick ups, lovely made in us quality....
Otherwise, for your band i would be considering a Spector Euro4 or Warwick..... -

My recent weirdness, involved a couple of you g kids getting on stage and playing with the drum kit, cymbals etc, and some ' interesting' conversations to follow with an irish gypsy family , whose kids they were
Thought it was all going to kick off, so went and talked to 'dad' to head it off at the pass. Landlord was trying to throw them out, we were getting stared at daggers for the first 5 tracks! Then the rest of his family turned up, girls wearing big dresses etc, and turns out they were off to a gypsy wedding, and were warming up in the pub!
During the break , 'dad' , told me i was 'alright' and bought me a pint! Then f'ed off with family in tow!
Rest of the punters had a good time, and we got offered several return gigs, ' but dont worry , next time you play we will have security....'
Surreal. ' Errrr, no thanks!' Plenty of nice places to play thanks! -
Good stuff! Sure you guys will do very well!

Talk to him about it, and give him a chance to get it together? With a timescale! If that is not an option, move on asap. Rythmn section needs to be tight and right!

Thank you!
