  1. Hi all

here is an unopened and brand new B30EQ from EMG.

this is the same eq that sits in Dingwall Combustions, and will retrofit most basses.

as you can see from the pics its bass, treble and mids, and will slot in next to pickup selector, vol etc.

I bought it for a Dingwall NG2, as i dont like the tone of the Darkglass tone capsule.

    price includes postage

    cheers, Mike

I've had to force myself to put it down as I need to go to bed (up early tomorrow).

I've only played it on my headphone practice rig, but so far I'm really impressed with the Neve pre-amp.

The bass sounds decent enough in passive mode, but I can't say I'm ever going to gig that way.

    The controls are: volume/4 way pick-up selector (bridge solo/bridge middle series/bridge neck parallel/neck solo)/master tone/bass/treble.

There are centre detents on the bass and treble, so that seems to be cut and boost for both.

The master tone control is the one where the magic happens though and not a hint of hissiness when it's wide open.

It's a lovely full sounding pre and combined with the extended scale on the E and A it produces a sweet punch.

I can see I'm going to have to buy a few sets of the nickel Dingwall strings for future use.

The case, or gig bag, is actually of nice quality. It's pretty close to the standard of my Mono bags.

It's the first 4 string Dingwall I've owned (I've had a 5 string before) and I honestly didn't even notice the fan frets.

It's slightly different with a 5, but I'd say anyone considering a fan fretted 4, don't be put off.

All in all, I'm very happy with it.

    Anyone else received theirs yet?

Fantastic! I have an NG2, which i have swapped out with an EMG  BQS preamp ( hate the Darkglass capsule 🤢) and its a wonderful thing. The banjo frets, and stability on drop D or highest G , is awesome, and intonation never goes out.

if you have time to post a little sound clip, that would be awesome.

  3. Keys player was booking some gigs and keeping more than his fair share. Only found out after a new years gig, when i called the venue - they thought it was him on the phone - and they confirmed the £3k fee.

trouble was we were getting £250 each, and he was keeping £1.5k

it was my band and my pa, and the rule was always an equal split regardless.

  4. Hi George, i feel you on this one.

my advice would be to have a break from it. Arrange a dep and tell the lads you are having a few months off, and hope to be back.

i found the monotony of playing the same songs - more or less - for 5 years a downer and really hit my enthusiasm for something i have always loved. When i left i found i was playing stuff i had not looked at for ages, and being invited into other bands etc. Also i started learning keys which i never had the time for before.

its been about six months now and just thinking of getting back in the saddle again, so to speak.

leave the door ajar, rather than slamming it closed, and give yourself time to breathe and think.

hope this helps George, and good luck,

    Mike

  5. Woolworths.

i mean where is boy - who isnt supposed to eat sugar - supposed to get his pick n mix? They let me down badly there, and my grandson willnever have the pleasure of a bon bon or peanut shaped sweet, or those pineapple cubes that made your mouth hurt. Shame.

on a serious note, EDF Energy = avoid. Mucho love for Octopus though…..

can we include the Conservative party? May as well be a company……..

  6. Hi all,

selling 2 of my Markbass cabs, for £250 each. Both in excellent condition.

Weight of the 210 is around 26/27 lbs and the 115 around 36lbs.

    both are 8 ohms.

they work nicely as a combo for gigging.

Happy to deliver within a reasonable distance or meet halfway, with tea and cake reward!

Any questions, please let me know. Should find good feedback for me on the site.

    Thanks, Mike
