1.
You don't often see any of these all-valve Trace heads, well, anywhere, so if it's in good nic, I'm sure the shop'll find a buyer for it...

    Eude
Well you say that but I do happen to live in a musical backwater. Most people around here would only be able to recognise a Marshall amp so something like this would seem pretty alien to the locals.

  2. Recently undertook a 250 mile round trip in the snow to meet with Nik and purchase a damn fine Sandberg JJ5.

What can I say that hasnt already been said? Nik is a top guy!! The whole expeirence was made an utter pleasure by his warm hospitality and friendly nature. The weeks leading up to the sale, Nik was in constant contact with fully informative emails, information and advice and on the day itself he went out of his way to make sure I was happy with the purchase.

Nik is someone I would definately do another 250 miles for if he was to sell his Wal :)

Some earlier in the thread described Nik as one of the 'good guys' I cant echo this sentiment enough.

Certainly a man to do business with.

  3.
Valve amps belong in a museum next to black and white TVs. You wanted an opinion? It may be a minority opinion, but that's mine.
I do tend to agree with that actually. I tend to go for the more Hi-Fi sound that my MarkBass amp gives me, however saying that, I do love the aggresive sound of valve's. Think about the Bob Westons bass sound in Shellac, absolutely rocking!! I love that sound but dont know if I can make do with it all the time. If the Quatra Valve ends up being priced well, I may as well take a punt on it, if I end up not liking it then I'm sure a fellow Basschater would have it off me.

  4.
I got the smaller version the Twin for the equivilant of around £150-200, i have seen quadras go between 300 and 500.
Cheers Rob. I'll be popping in there today to see what they got it priced at.

  5.
I would love one, if you buy it and dont get on with it, let me know!

    Cheers. Rob.
Not sure what the shop will charge for it but hopefully find out tomorrow, what would be a fair price do you think? I've never seen one before so have no idea what sort of price they go for second hand.

  6. My local music shop just recieved in one of these Trace heads in and was just wondering if anyone knows anything about or even uses them. They only got it in today so I havent been able to have a go on it yet but I was just wondering if anyone had any views on it. I suppose what I'd like to know firstly is, is it a sought after one?

    Any advice would be great.

  7. I would certainly agree with chris_b on the Mark Bass and Aguilar DB112 option. That is the setup I have and it laughs in the face of most other 'reasonably' priced mini rigs. The cabs arent what yould call really light but the small footprint stacked either way means loading a car is a piece of cake and setin up on stage is just as easy. I am running a Sandberg 5 through it at the moment and it has oodles of clear, fat bottom to it, I think you mentioned the word 'foundation' well this rig has that.

All of the parts pop up every so often in the classifieds but if new is the way to go, definatley point you clicker at bassmerchant.com, good prices on all of the above.

    Hope that helps

  8. I currently own a beautifull Sandberg PM4 in the creme colour and this very weekend I am embarking on a voyage to Littlehampton to purchase a JJ5 in the same colour, though this one hs the pre-aged look. Cant bloomin wait. Pic's and bits to follow I'm sure.

  9. After 12 months of trying to learn drums I’ve finally realised that it just is not for me. As a result, I’ve decided to part with my Roland TD3 drum kit. The kit itself is in near new condition, it has had the grand total of about 20 hours use and after a quick dust it will look as new. It has never left the house, in fact it has never moved from the room it was set up in.

The TD3 model is a cracking unit, simple to use yet capable of pretty inspiring sounds.

    The kit consists of:
    TD3 module
    CY5 Hi hat pad
    FD8 Hi hat controller
    KD8 Bass drum pad
    PDX8 Mesh Snare head
    2xCY8 Cymbal pads
    3xPD8 Tom pads
    Full stand system

    ALL IN TOP CONDITION!
Will add some photos just as soon as I can.

Further info to be found here: Roland TD3

As for price, I’ve seen these in this good a condition go for £550+ so I’m offering it at [s]£530[/s]. As I say, BRAND NEW CONDITION.

[s]Price drop to £500[/s] and again to £475

Collection is preferred but might stretch to courier if I have the time to sort one out.

    Thanks.

  10.
Mine is 30kg's

Yes call Matamp on 0845 6444 606 ask for Jeff and tell him you are from Basschat and you've seen all these 2x12's floating around :)
I'll do just that.

Hopefully in a couple of weeks I'll have my own Matamp porn to show you all.

One more question: What are the dimensions?

    Thanks

  11.
it weighs 14kg,should be available feb 2010.They assure me that the LB30 will be loud enough for gigging.i will be trying one asap.
Does anyone know where they might end up being stocked from February then?

  12.
Give Steve a call before venturing over to make sure he'll open the door for you :)

Had a set of Antigua fender basses and guitars last time I pressed my GAS filled nose against the glass (it was shut ) Some gems in there but he does know what he has and his prices reflect ..
Cheers for the heads up.

  13.
If you're in Bristol, I'd suggest checking out Electric Ladyland in Old Market. That is, if you can physically get in the shop - literally packed with old Japcrap, vintage amps & God knows what :)
Sounds like my kind of place.

That description reminds me of The Music Box (think thats what its called) in Oxford. Tiny little Aladin's cave of old old stuff, some good, mostly bad though.

  14. I havent been to this shop since it was Sound Control, just wondering if there is any point checking it out.

I'm visiting family over Christmas period just outside Bristol so was wondering if the trip to the city centre is worth it. Infact, does anyone know of any other decent music shops that might carry a healthy supply of gear, bass mainly but I always enjoy a look around guitar's and drum kits.

    Thanks in advance
