We had 15 gigs booked for this year, our drummer decided he wanted a minimum fee from gigs and so we had to cancel 4 gigs because they weren’t paying what he wanted, a week later he quit with no notice which has meant we’ve had to cancel several more, which means I’ve lost out on around £600 which I’m not happy about!
currently looking for a second band or dep opportunities in the mean time.
I have been going to the local jam night though, just to keep my playing going

Just FYI GAK have moved their bass department to the upstairs of the next door shop and they didn’t have a huge amount of space, or bass gear when I last went a few months ago
-
I’ve not watched this documentary since it was released, I’ll have to try and watch it this week.
I saw Jason Newsted with Metallica a few times, he was brilliant and still one of my favourite players.
His bass playing on Load & Reload is great.

Wow, not much notice from the guitarist. If I ever give notice, I'll play gigs until they have replacement up and running.
Daryl
I am really annoyed. I understand that someone wants to move on, but to give three weeks notice is not cool.
we have been together for over a year and he has really dropped us in it

Played at The Penny Theatre in Canterbury tonight for the first time and it went really well.
They usually have tribute acts on a Saturday but the manager wanted to try a covers band and so we managed to get a slot. Wasn’t sure what to expect as we were told it emptied out by 10pm. We were a bit late on due to various issues and didn’t get going until 8.30 and then we had wireless and Wi-Fi issues but on the whole the gig was great and the manager said it was the busiest Saturday that they had had for months.
I used my @Tech21NYC Steve Harris pre amp tonight. I saw the great man himself playing in British Lion on Sunday and so thought fit to use it.Unfortunately our drummer announced he was quitting after the gig, and said he would only do one more gig in a couple of weeks and that is it. Quite annoyed to say the least, as we have quite a few decent gigs booked this year including a wedding, and he has really dropped us in it.

I want one, but definitely don’t need one!
I have till the end of March to get the want out of my head!
-
They are shipping at the end of March, the digital version looks very flexible. It has a compressor, noise gate, octave, tuner and access to 5 different Darkglass distortions

I have been looking at getting a Darkglass 2x10 cab which are on sale for around £800-£900, now I am thinking for a few hundred pounds more I can get a whole combo.
Pricey overall though

They look fantastic, v jealous of those who bagged one!
-
I dread seeing how much these will cost, given their 2x10 cabs are around £900 and the heads £750
-
Some new combo's have appeared on the Darkglass website (presumably ahead of NAMM)
https://www.darkglass.com/creations/
No info on pricing yet that I can find, but they look good.
I have been looking at buying a Darkglass cab to go with my Alpha Omega amp, but might hold off and see what these are like.

I saw British Lion (Steve Harris solo band) at Leo’s Red Lion in Gravesend this evening. It was brilliant, and just as good as when I saw them in the same venue a couple of years ago.
I find it amazing that he gives just as much effort and enthusiasm playing in a tiny place like this as he does playing at The O2.
I managed to shake his hand as he walked past at the end as well.

Played in Dartford last night. The Orchard Theatre was closed down as a result of defective concrete
that was found in the roof in September 2023, and our gig there soon afterwards was cancelled.
However, due to amazing work done by Dartford Borough Council and Trafalgar Theatres, they
managed to construct a brand new temporary theatre venue close by to The Orchard, which
was built and opened for business in late November 2023 as The Orchard West, only 9 weeks later!
Absolutely incredible feat, and shows what can be done when people work together.
Businesses in the town were worried that they would struggle without the theatre bringing in people, and the council listened and reacted accordingly. It was ready for the Panto season!
Anyway, we had around 800 people in ( holds just over a thousand) and it went really well. Greataudience and the theatre crew were amazing. A long drive back though, dodging muppets on the
M25 and M1 as well as long 50mph speed restrictions for no apparent reason meaning I got home
just before 3am. Bit of lunch soon and then am driving up to Scarborough this afternoon for my
favourite gig with our acoustic duo. Severe weather warnings in place so crossing everything.
That theatre is just a few minutes up the road from me. The land that the temporary theatre sat on was a huge patch of bare earth for years since an old coop was demolished.
Quite a feat to get it up and running so quickly

How are you finding the 1 x 12 cab?
I have an Alpha Omega 500 and am looking to swap my Orange cab for either a Darkglass 2x12 or 1x12.
I’ll be using it for pub gigs, and not sure if 1x12 will be enough

I had my eye on ordering one of these when they were announced but missed out

Our local shop often leaves parcels piled up outside ready to be picked up by Evri!

From Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son:
Can I Play With Madness
The Evil That Men Do
Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son
All classics. I was 8 when the album came out, but was fortunate enough to see the Maiden England tour 4 times in 2013/2014 when the toured it again.

I’ve got my eye on getting a Digitech Drop. It’s looking like the band will be down tuning a couple of songs by 1/2 - 1 step.
A lot of places seem out of stock at the minute though

That wireless looks cool, it would be great if the release a 5.8ghz version

That doesn't sound right, my dug worked very well with headphones.
The Dug one looks like it has a small headphone button on it, maybe they changed the design
-
This pedal sounds great. I have the Steve Harris version and I love it.
I wish Tech 21 would include a better option for headphone use on these. The Steve Harris one is supposed to be able to power a set of headphones, but I have never had much luck in doing so

That’s slightly worrying! I recently bought a WL-20 and have been using it live with no problems. I plug the two parts together last thing when setting up so that they can find a clear channel to work on.
Its really annoying, as it only seems to work properly at 50% of gigs. I pair it last after the other items are set up, but often just get a weird pulsating noise from my bass.
I prefer using the Boss units rather than the Lekato ones as they don't move around as much

cool, thanks for that, I have tried my guitar one (on the IEMs) but it dropped out on a really big gig (during soundcheck) so I went back to a lead but the lekato was perfect on the guitar (weird) also on 5.8. I have used the guitar one very succesfully on quite a few gigs last year ( no drop out or anything)
At our gig last week we had 2 x lekato XLR on 5.8 and I was using lekato guitar wireless on 5.8 and everything seemed ok.
i tried to soundcheck with my Boss WL-20 which I prefer to use, but it kept cutting out so switched to the Lekato guitar wireless.
I am finding more and more that the Boss WL-20 doesn’t work properly at gigs anymore.

what lekato are you using for your IEM @markbunney?
I am using the Lekato 5.8ghz XLR mic transmitter set with Behringer P2. Its a bit bulky, but once it's clipped on my belt, I don't really notice it.
It has really clear sound, and I have had no issues with it in the 6 or so gigs I have used it for now. I got mine off eBay for about £65, they are more expensive at Amazon at the minute, but the price seems to fluctuate all the time between Amazon & eBay. At our last gig, we had 3 things running on 5.8ghz with no issues.
