1. Took Pete's Shuker off his hands. Couldn't be happier. Great guy to deal with, thanks buddy
2. Bumping up this thread because I spied this today (apologies if it's been brought up before - I had a quick search and couldn't find anything!) http://www.gak.co.uk/en/fender-classic-player-rascal-bass-ocean-turquoise/101123
3. Thanks to everyone who's entertained some trade offers so far - unfortunately real life has caught up with me and dealt me some unwanted expense so it'll have to be a straight sale now.
4. Bumper to bumper, the forum is packed Not sure Vanilla Ice references help
5.
Any chance of posting the picture of the lacquer scratch? Thanks
Ah yep, I was meaning to: Only scratch on the body. Screw head on the battery cover should give a good idea of scale.
6. Price drop - now £850! EDIT: Really only looking for a straight sale now - some things have come up that need paying Reluctantly, I'm placing my 2012 EBMM Stingray (3EQ model) up for sale - it's not getting a lot of use and it just seems a waste to have it kicking around the house unplayed. It's only left the house once for one gig and otherwise has had very light use at home. Pearl blue (with matching headstock) black pickguard and a rosewood board. Given it a nice clean-up and it's been strung recently with a set of Ernie Ball Power Slinkies. Action is comfortable and the neck is still has fast as the day I bought it. OHSC is in perfect working order (just a couple of scrapes). There is only one scratch which I know of - a light lacquer scratch on the back near the battery cover (I'll see if I can get a picture of it when I get a chance), apart from that it's mint. Pics are here: http://imgur.com/a/SeBOu Would prefer a straight sale but if you have anything to offer trade-wise I'll consider it! Paypal/wire transfer or cash on collection is fine (Surrey/Hampshire border). Would prefer not to ship but if needs must I'm sure something could be arranged - alternatively I'm happy to meet halfway at a reasonable distance. Cheers for looking -Sam
7. Saw that Fender do a pickguard called "black glass" which I don't ever recall seeing before... took the plunge anyway to see what it looks like. Think it looks pretty rad actually! Looks a tad like black pearloid under artificial light but reflects gold in sunlight.
8. Surprisingly I did actually remember to buy the cable, ha! Thanks for the compliments guys
9. Hi all, Thought I'd share a couple of quick pics of my new bass. Went into Andertons today to buy a new cable. Walked out with a fretless 2012 MIM Jazz bass. Erm, not quite sure how that one worked... I've never played a fretless bass before and yet after sitting in the store playing it for a good hour my brain decided that learning fretless was a good idea - and I'm now the owner of said bass. 2012 MIM standard model. Apparently second hand but in new condition - the cling film still on the pickguard! Steal as well compared to the new price so I'm pretty chuffed. Anyway, less talk, more pictures... 10.
You're not helping my GAS one bit!
It'll pass. You don't want one. Perhaps. I think... Right?
11. I popped into Andertons today to pick up some strings whilst I was passing by. They had a red Modern Player Dimension on the wall and I decided to take a look as I've not seen one in the flesh yet. Ugly brute. I had no intention of ever wanting the bass, just wanted to see what it sounded like. The thing is so damn comfortable to play - challenging my 'Ray - that I almost took it home with me then and there (£360 was very, very tempting). Managed to restrain myself! I'm still trying to convince myself it's a hellish, horrible, ugly thing that will be loved by no-one. Cue existential crisis...
12. Also dropping in to say I had my first visit to the shop today - Barrie is a great chap and I had a great time messing about on a few basses - very tempted by the Godin Shifter P/J basses!
13. Hi all, I currently have a Fender Rumble 15 practice amp that I tool around on in my bedroom and when I practice with my mates. Now, I know next to nothing about amps (is there a "what you need to know about amps" thread anywhere?) but I think I'll probably need to upgrade as time goes by, especially as we might start doing some small gigs here and there. Any suggestions where I can go amp-wise next? Thanks Sam
14. Thanks for the welcome mate In the band at the moment we're playing mainly punk rock and a bit of indie stuff (Green Day, Good Charlotte, Bloc Party) though I generally don't listen/play punk rock myself. I was brought up by my parents listening to funk and jazz so I've always had a soft spot for some of the bass work there, it'd be nice to play a bit more of that. By myself, I usually listen/play to more ska punk/alt rock stuff. I'll get around to uploading some videos when I've got a bit more spare time on my hands (quite busy at work at the moment!) and when I'm a bit more used to the Stingray.
15. Hello all, been lurking for a bit but I thought it was about time I made a post, as today marks a monumental day in my bass playing career... My name's Sam, I'm 20 and living in Hampshire. Got into bass playing through a bit of a stranger route than most I'd guess... The four-string bug originally bit me a couple of years ago when I was in college, but it was ukuleles then (I have three. 'Cause I'm cool.). I ended up playing bass on a Guitar Hero band for a bit (yeah, I know) before I went to uni. Fast forward a year and I'd dropped out of uni so I was looking for something to keep me occupied whilst I looked for a job, and ended up taking the plunge and buying the Squier Affinity J-Bass package (with the Rumble 15 amp) at a bargain price from my local music shop. I got into it straight away and 9 months down the line (after teaching myself how to play) I do some jamming and a bit of band work with some of my music student friends who thought I was good enough to join them, which is a nice compliment as I've never had any formal music training apart from learning the trumpet when I was about 10! I've been looking around for an upgrade from the Squier for a while now, but I've been doing my research and going around testing different basses at different shops. I went out today fully expecting to come home with an American Jazz, and came home with... Being well endowed (in the hand size department, you understand) I'd been struggling with the neck thickness on the Jazzes and the Precision has never felt comfortable. The Stringray plays like a dream! Such a fast neck and the action is spot-on. Just hoping that buyers remorse doesn't set in in the next few days... So I thought as I enter a new phase of my playing I'd join up to absorb the knowledge of you experienced bunch! See you around
