1. Up for sale i have a JOYO JW-01 wireless transmitter and receiver. Pretty compact, has internal batteries for recharging via USB (cable provided (but not plug)) i seem to get about 4 hours worth out of them. Works via bluetooth- has a pretty good range- doesn't have a significant impact on your tone and there isn't a significant latency. I use it for band rehearsal to keep the amount of cables down and us it to go from the bass to the start of my effects chain. Its good to wander. BUT: i've never trusted it for a full on gig situation, so do so at your own risk. Its never been a problem for me and if you do hear interference there's a button that moves both to another frequency. Its obviously more of a fun thing to use than the serious ones that cost 6+ times the price. £45 inc postage
2. 2 Boss pedals for sale: ODB-3 overdrive: great condition, original box, works perfectly: [s]£45 posted [/s]£40 Posted [s]GEB-7 Graphic equaliser: few paint chips and tiny dents, works perfectly though: £40 posted £35 Posted [/s]SOLD Not looking for any trades. Collection welcome from SW London and i'll knock a couple of quid off. Cheers
3. Up for sale i have a Hartke HA3000 amp and an XL 115 bass module. Which i'd prefer to sell as a pair but will split if there are buyers for both. Collection only from SW london as i just won't have a chance to deal with couriers etc. Not looking for any trades at the moment- i'm looking to clear space! Loud lovely amp- i really like it and to me at least it has a clean mouldable sound. A link to the manual below for people who want all the bells and whistles details- but suffice to say- 300ww into 4 ohms and 180 (i think) into 8ohms, passive & active inputs, 4 band EQ plus shape and intensity which are quite fun to play with, soft start to protect your driver. http://www.samsontec...4000_manual.pdf The cab is from the well regarded XL series and is a 1x15 200W @ 8 ohms. Has an aluminium driver and sounds great to my ears- had a fair few compliments on it too! Condition wise- plenty of scratches to the amp and a bit of wear in various places to the cab. Amp handle has a crude but functional repair to it. All in perfect working/ sounding order though. Speaker cable included too if buying together- tests also welcome. bear in mind its at the top of 3 flights of stairs- i've carried it up myself alone a couple of times and i will of course give the buyer a hand to the car. Just so you know! some rubbish iphone pics as the girlfriend is away with the camera!
4.
+1for the Amplug, it's not the most versatile tone-wise, but it's very small and convenient, and does the trick. If you connect an iPod, you can even wander round the place... I have a Micro Cube which replaced the Amplug, but it's a lot more cash.
I'm guessing the Roland micro cub RX? been looking at one myself- i'd be interested to hear your opinion on them- at nigh on 200 quid new do you think they're worth it. loud enough to busk for example?
5.
Do bear in mind that many luthiers use templates, for necks and even for their non-standard body shapes. Takes out a lot of the guesswork, especially with fretting fingerboards, positioning bridges etc. I reckon I could probably make a body or wings, but a neck/fretboard? No way José! Again, I bet the pros have a template for guiding a router when cutting a channel for a truss rod...
very true. i saw loads of templates and jigs on a recent visit to Overwater. The have one for necks where you just stick the blank in and route the entire shape of the neck and headstock virtually in one go. they have a router about the same size as my living room too with its own power generator. epic!
6. I still consider myself an absolute novice- but i'm 9/10ths of the way finishing my first bespoke bass built from scratch to my design. I had zero woodwork experience and only really a passing knowledge of bass construction when i got started. my advice is just to dive in. there are a few critical dimensions and a lot of it seems to be understanding what you like about a bass you've played and replicating that. I'm from a design background so i did a CAD drawing of the bass to fine tune the look and make sure scale lengths and nut widths and spacings were spot on- which made things easier. a detailed drawing is probably a good place to begin. Just got for it! i figure even if there first one sounds crap, i have learnt so much i'm sure the next one will be good! that reminds me, i must start a thread in 'builds'
7. What ohms is this rated at? And does the price include postage- I'm a bit confused. Cheers!
8. I can confirm tis a 2p3t switch. I think i'll have to go back to the drawing board and fully check waht leg does what. i'll report back on the outcome. Thanks again for your help AngelLaHash
9. Thanks very much for your help AngelLaHash. I think i'll need to study your instructions in the morning when i've had a couple less beers (probably not a good idea to whip out the soldering iron either!) but i already think what you've written might make a little more sense. Did a quick mark up so i get the idea- is this correct? Is there any need for a resistor anywhere too?
10. Help a newbie out! - i'm doing my first full bass build from scratch (thread in build diaries to follow soonish!) and i'm struggling with the wiring a bit. I'm trying to wire in a single MM bartolini pickup with a telecaster style 3-way switch for Single/Split/Parallel and a volume and tone. I've pulled out the seymour duncan wiring diagrams and i think i've followed them correctly but when i've got the 3 way switch in series or split position i seem to get some noise out, but when i've got it in a the parallel there is total silence! I also can't sell the difference between noises for the series/ split so this may not be working right either. Essentially i am using the 'grey wire from preamp' in the switch diagram as the black wire in the pots diagram and the 'to ground' wire on the switch diagram grounded on the volume pot. I may have got this completely and am trying to do something ridiculous- its my first go at wiring so be kind! Any thoughts/ help would be greatly appreciated. The two diagrams i am using are: and
11. +1 for EQ pedal for clean boost on choruses and what not. Works a treat. Picked mine up off here pretty cheap, and i use it lots.
12. If only you'd popped this up last week. Just bought a bunch of the on-on-on thingys (at ebay non-bulk prices mind) for my scratch build.
13.
Bass on a plane?
Is this the slightly dull sequel to Snakes on a Plane? I think after this one you should do 'Guitar on a Bus' and ' Piano on a Bicycle'
14. Owned from new- bought less than 2 months ago, but have decided I don’t need another bass at the moment. Never gigged and only used for the odd practice. As such, condition is great. Very small mark on shoulder that has been touched up but other than that all is peachy. Stock spec below: Pickups: 2 Humbuckers Hardware: Black Chrome Nut Width: 1.73" Scale: 34" Neck: Bolt-on Neck Material: Maple Fingerboard: Rosewood, dot inlay Headstock: Reverse beak Body Material: Alder. Sunburst finish Came new with the neck-end strap button on the back neck bolt plate so it doesn’t have the neck-dive problem often associated with Gibson/ Epiphone Thunderbirds. Well set up and extremely playable. Price is £140 ovno. EDIT- not looking for any trades at the moment thanks. I have a heavy duty Thomann gig bag designed to fit the T-bird I will throw in for an extra £10. Although I won’t sell it separately. Cash on collection from SW London (Richmond) please- buyer is obviously welcome to try it out. Apologies for the naff iphone pics I could probably sort out some better ones if folk require them.
15. Very easy transaction and a fantastic bass bought. Would very happily deal with Sabian again. Thanks very much
16. Bought a Boss Pedal from Horrorshow- Top bloke, all was great and really quick!
