  1. Bands have been playing to sequencers since the 1980s. One that instantly springs to mind is Level 42 with their song ‘Hot Water’. It doesn’t sound at all metronomic or lacking in groove.

I’ve done gigs where the drummer has been working from a click. The band just follows him.

A good musician should be able to make anything groove.

I actually said I’d pay the PayPal fees and then when the scammer said no then he was told to run and jump.

it’s only a few per cent extra to protect you

There are several websites you can use to calculate the fees the seller will incur. I’ll just pay whatever the extra is to ensure the seller gets what they wanted while protecting myself.

I think it actually goes to 18v on each output, not 9v. I have one and it powers a 12v and an 18v pedal fine with the dip switches properly selected.

I copied the specs from the Ciok website. I’m pretty sure it does do 12v though.

  4. As new, unused.

I bought this new about a month ago. I was putting together a small pedalboard with a bunch of Darkglass pedals.

I’ve had a change of mind and bought a Darkglass ADAM, that does everything the bunch of pedals did. Consequently, I no longer need a multi-way power supply.

The Sol features the same switchable voltage outlets with four selectable output voltages as its bigger brother the DC7, SOL offers five outlets with up to 660mA max. power output at 9V each. This makes SOL the most powerful small form-factor power supply available today with a total of 30 watts of DC power on tap.

As I said, it’s brand new, unused and never been mounted on to my pedalboard.

    The price includes postage.

  5. Used but in excellent condition.

Bought from on here recently. I’m selling it because I’ve bought a Darkglass ADAM.

The pedal produces a dazzling array of distortion sounds. It also works very well as a clean preamp.

  6. Boxed and in excellent condition.

It would be quicker to say what this doesn’t do.

I use it for recording into Logic Pro. It had a library of cab/amp sims to choose from, and works perfectly as an audio interface.

Selling only because I have bought a Darkglass ADAM, which unbelievably manages to do even more.

  7. He is, according to this article, just the tip of the iceberg.

The moral of the story is, if you’re buying something remotely, then use PayPal.

I’ve bought a couple of things from on here recently. I didn’t personally know the guys I was buying from, so I used regular PayPal. I did though, pay a little extra so they received what they wanted, while I still had buyer protection.

  8. The size of your fingers is immaterial, it’s about technique.

Apart from a brief reverse back to playing a 5 string during the first year of my degree, I’ve been playing 6 string bass for nearly 20 years.

I would recommend having a few lessons from someone who plays a 6 string when you start, just to get comfortable with playing it.

I think the reason why so many people buy 6 string basses and then sell them, is that they’re trying to simply transfer whatever technique they use on a 4 string instrument over to the 6. That won’t necessarily work, they’re very different beasts.

No, well not many, it's all about streaming these days, we get about 500 streams a month for which we get about £2!!! we're really struggling to get our money back on our last CD and we only had to sell 100.

As @BigRedX says T shirts are far more profitable

That’s it. I barely sold any of the CDs I had printed a few years ago. I had a batch of 50 cassettes done that sold out within a week.

Last time i saw him with Wilko the sound was atrocious. Don’t think his stack was DI’d properly so got only a trebly clank my side of stage. Fingers crossed that was a one off.

One of the other music lecturers does the sound. He really knows his stuff. The venue has a state of the art sound system.

Damn it. I am Birmingham based, didn’t know about this and (whilst not a massive fan of The Blockheads) love Norman’s playing loads. Typical then that I’m on a road trip elsewhere…

We have a lot of very good bands playing. The 80s band Big Country were on last night.
