  1. What do you guys recommend for playing straight into the desk for a covers band. Just to reduce equipment used. I have a 2012 USA jazz bass with la bella flatwounds. We will be playing mainly; Van Morrison, Elvis, Johnny Cash, Creedence Clearwater, Mumford and Sons etc. I liked the sound of the Sansamp VT Bass DI but it's not released until May. The MXR M-80 sounds a bit 'metal' on YouTube and I wasn't sure about the phantom power requirement for the Radial J48. Cheers for your help!
  2. The VT Bass DI is advertised on the GAK website for £229. A bit steeper than sweetwaters valuation at $209!!
  3. Sometimes there might be photos they would also want to forget! lol
  4. Hi thanks. Well I live in Northern Ireland and bands here get up to £1400 for a wedding. The majority of 'bands' don't even play instruments; ie. standing behind keyboards and pressing play for the music. They all play the same songs pretty much as well. Yes we are all very good musicians and will be able to deliver a performance. By getting started I really meant what is a good basic setup to get us off and running which we can add to as we go along. Thanks again!
  5. Hi guys. I have just rejoined my old band who always played our own original material. We are going to start playing some weddings. We were thinking about DI'ing bass and guitar straight into the desk hopefully to reduce amount of equipment as we have probably 3 cars to carry it. What sort of PA would you guys recommend to get us started? Thanks.
  6. Thanks, just ordered the flatwounds there. I wonder if they could get me the 750N tapewounds; or does anyone else know where I could get my hands on them?
  7. Hi guys. Does anyone know where i can purchase in the UK the following strings: La Bella Black Nylon Tapewounds 750N Light 50 - 105 La Bella Flatwounds 760 FL 043 - 104, or; 760 FS 045 - 105 Thanks for your help. Wayne
  8. Hi guy, quick question. Does anyone know where I can purchase one of these pedals in the UK new? I checked online and on their website under dealers for Europe was Germany and Holland. Thanks for your help!
  9. £1066 and some free strings. It's the same price everywhere I tried. Dawsons didn't have any in stock and I didn't want to wait a couple of weeks. The guy in the bass dept at the GAK shop was good to deal with, he made sure I was getting one of the basses they had in the shop rather than the online warehouse.
  10. Ordered an American Standard Jazz 2012 in Olympic white with rosewood neck from the GAK shop. I emailed Mark on here and he told me to contact the bass department and they had a couple in stock. The guy was very helpful and checked the bass while I was on the phone.
  11. Sweetwater aren't allowed to ship fender products internationally they say. Maybe to do with the price? The 2012 jazz USA standards are £1066.00 on all UK websites.
  12. I'll have to have a look on Thomann to see if they have the Olympic white jazz.
  13. @ Bassman. Matchetts are a rip off. They priced a tort pickguard for my P-bass at £95 plus VAT. I ordered one through the fender dealer in Lisburn for £50! I will try Dawsons though, definately. And well I'll try matchetts for a laugh to hear their price. Cheers! Yeah I think I'll also phone the GAK shop, it appears to be better than the website.
  14. I'll call them tomorrow, I tried a few places today but no answer!
  15. Thanks for the reply. Yeah I'm really just worried that it's in mint condition also. I mean I could send it back if it wasn't but I'd rather not have the hassle!
  16. Hi guys. I'm going to buy a Fender American Standard Jazz bass 2012 in Olympic White. I was going to buy it from somewhere like GAK, but I read a number of negative reviews which had me worried. I live in Northern Ireland and want it to arrive in top condition, and considering the price I don't want to have one all manly or marked from being on display. Where do you recommend I purchase it from? I read somewhere the GAK shop is better to deal with. Thanks for the input!
