  1. Lovely GB.

    Much love for Bernies work...

This one has featured a few times I think on Bernies website.

I'll never part with mine. Purely because it had some cosmetic wear and it's funky finish isn't to everyone's tastes...

    Glwts.

One day I can dream of placing a unique order from Bernie.

Atm Jon Shuker is my master craftasman of choice.. New bass on the way.

Slightly off topic can I post my eBay adds on this website in the eBay section?

  2. I guess it's what your used to.

I never find mine over bearing to carry but over long distances I could envisage this being a bit taxing.

Maybe the price you pay for protection?..

Used to have a really nice Warwick rock bag..

But in clubs and pubs with dopey drunken people knocking the case on the floor only to be trodden on resulting in a snapped neck. I've seen this a few times.....*shudders*

Usually occurs with drunken band members from other bands sharing a room somewhere.

Spent a good few hours using it as a seat on train station platforms haha..!

But it's all horses for courses

I bet there will come a point when my opinion will change on musical instrument protective travel solutions

    :)

  3. Both my GB and Shuker have Hiscox liteflight cases.

IMO the best all round case you can buy

    Relatively cheap to buy
Maximum protection against all the most server of accidents
    Weather proof
    Totally reusable

And apart from the felt interior and possibly the foam reinforcements

It's made of ABS which is totally recyclable

Thenl catches are solid metal which are recyclable

And other bits are made from plywood again recyclable.

So it's also ethically made also.

    :)

Oh it's a British business still using traditional methods

I happened to be at Jon Shuker the day a guy from Hiscox came to sort out the embossed emblem on to the cases

He stenciled it onto a piece of wood and then hand carved it ready to make the mould.

And both cases were 'included' in the price.

  4. Recording with my Yamaha RBX270 through a Marshall MB Series Amp...Recorded with a stupid mobile

    Excuse the timing issues :s...

Didn't really rehearse this at all...Just went for it as I was in the mood.

Cocked up on quite a few bits.

    Enjoy...(I hope)

    Ben

  5. I have a 33 and 34

The 33 feels smaller to me... Rationally the inch spread across the while fretboard is actually pretty immaterial.

I've come to the decision that it's the necks shape not the scale length that making it feel smaller..

Or am I just talking rubbish lol..

  6. Having played a vast array of Jazz basses I'll happily say that to these ears a Fender is a workhorse.

They have the sound and the looks that most people instantly recognise.

But to me a Fender is beaten hands down by my GB... Yes I kinda get the notion that you have your 'own' sound and tbh no matter what basses I play (except maybe an air bass) I sound like me.

But... With a Fender there's just no sparkle no extra mojo... The urge to play and innovate is boundless with my GB This imo is down to the feel and the balance... And also the uber powerful electrics and series/parallel Kent Armstrong pickups...

    Everyone is different....
Everyone's ears and brains are not the same..

It's that little something you just can't put your finger on.. All I know from my own experience that Fender just feel a bit... Cheap...

It's like stepping from a BMW 7 series into a Rolls Royce Ghost..

    Underneath they are the same.

But the Rolls will always been a cut above in 'perceived' luxury... Whether or not the materials used are of a lesser quality is irrelevant..but you know someone spent days hand stitching those seats.. Hand polishing all the wood and trimming the car with all them sheep hides.

I pick up my GB and I know that it was hand carved. Lovingly hand painting etc etc.

This gives it the X factor...

The fact that no normal people would be able to sell the difference?.. I couldn't gives a monkey nuts about that.

I am just not inspired by Fender...

Of course on the flip side someone would say your daft spending 3x as much on a Rolls than what is essentially the same mechanical drive train and chassis.

    But what do they know?

..... The above probably doesn't make any sense at all.. But hey... What do I know?

    Lol

  7. Just bought a Yamaha RBX270

    For a bargain price

Excellent guy to deal with... Paid cash for the bass but the transaction and collection was dealt with within 24hrs.

    Very nice chap as well

And quite a fancy living room too..

    Couldn't recommend him more

    All the best

    Ben
