I've looked at the economics of running a rehearsal room setup several times, and I can't for the life of me work out how anyone ever manages to make a profit.

For context, I was Finance Director for a large & successful firm for 30 years. I'm not just some guy down the pub.

    😉

I once run a rehearsal room. It cost more for the business rates than it did for the rent of the building. Water rates and electric charges were a joke too. A somewhat labour of love I suppose.

This is where I found out that nearly every band on earth has at least 3 butt holes. They’d book in and literally turn up with no money to pay and expect to rehearse and owe the money. No amps, drums, leads and not so much as a plectrum between them. They were like scavengers.

Every band had at least one member who was ok though so it wasn’t all bad. That was about 15 years ago and I still get a bit of bad press for being a twot and a snob over some of the stuff that went on 😂 In the end, I wouldn’t let them rehearse without money up front. So, they called me a twot. When I replied “I wouldn’t waste your money because you’re crepe anyway”, I became a snob 😂😂

A horrible thankless, poverty stricken business that I hope I never get involved with again.

  2. I’ve always thought that, if everything at a live performance sounded like the record, then the band may as well mime. Or maybe, is it a who’s the best at karaoke event?
I remember a sound engineer I know, went to see Soul 2 Soul (I think) in the early 90’s. He was enraged and felt robbed because they didn’t use any samplers and loops etc that night. They had real musicians playing real instruments instead though! Wasn’t enough for him as he wanted all the technology out so they could sound like the record.
The profanity filter won’t let me write what I thought about him at the time 😂

  3. Bought new last year but dates to 2021. In great condition. Plays nicely with no issues I am aware of. I can’t find any marks but there may be one or two I’ve missed to the more discerning eye. Plastic cover still on the plate. I love the little thing but I’m beginning to amass quite a collection again and she’s noticed. 😳

These are around £370 to buy now so the asking price is more than fair.

Theres no case but I’ve still got the shipping box so, it will be safe to post. Collection and trial welcome at Bb22SH or arrange your own courier. Possible meet depending on time and distance.

  4. Trades - Fender VI, Squier VI with cash my way. Some sort of deal with Behringer XR18 or X18.

As above, great guitar in its own right but also has a countless number of emulated tricks up its sleeve.

it’s not like the other Variax models. This has its own pups etc and so the emulation does not need to be used. However, it can convincingly emulate most of the greatest guitars built. Mind boggling what this is capable of. Brilliant for live (no more changing guitars) and for the studio ( No more racks full of expensive guitars needed).

    https://line6.com/variax-modeling-guitars/jtv/

Its in pretty good condition, has a few little blemishes but nothing to write home about. Comes with a Line6 gig bag, charger and 2 batteries. Also, the interface to connect to Workbench (free Line6 editing software) via PC or Mac.

Trial and pick up ( BB22SH) preferred but also have suitable packaging to post if needs be.

  5. Would really like to sell as a complete setup. No offers unfortunately. This is only up for sale whilst a very special rig is available. If the other rig sells, I’ll be withdrawing this. I honestly didn’t think I’d be selling this but I’ve been led astray by dark evil forces.

Markbass Multiamp in great condition. Comes with DV Mark midi footswitch and soft padded live in case. Can run in mono, stereo or bi-amp with the right cab configuration. A raft of classic amp emulations and effects all built into a lightweight head.

Ninja 122 8ohm 800w cab also in great condition and comes with a thick quality Hotcovers cover.

I run this setup in mono bridged mode, hence the single 8ohm cab. Strange but the full power of this amp is drawn with an 8ohm load not 4ohm.

Very versatile and compact setup that’s in great condition.

Possible trade px for Barefaced Six10 / Four10.

I’m based in Blackburn Lancs, any trial welcome. Could look into postage as I’ve got the original shipping boxes. Shipping would be at buyers cost and risk. Cash on collection or bank transfer please. Any questions please ask.

  6. Not seen one of these on here for a good while. I owned one not long after they had been released. A lovely instrument indeed. Still regret selling it.  If I had anywhere secret left, I’d take it. Unfortunately, all stash houses are full at the moment. I do hope my other half never reads my posts on Basschat! 😂

Whoever buys this bass will be happy as they’re quality.

  7. Just a feeler to see if there's any interest. Only thinking of selling as I've got another interface that better suits my needs.

I've been using the XR18 to multitrack record since Covid and have come to the conclusion that although it's an amazing bit of kit, I don't need that many channels. Plus, as long as I've got a desk, I risk becoming the PA guy again! That's not happening :)

It's brilliant for multi-tracking and also as a live desk. It has far too many functions to list here. The PM16 Ultranet is a great little add on too. You can have a totally independent mix than the FOH and the other 6 bus outs. The Ultranet is vastly expandable. It's quite impressive for live and recording. Ideal if using in ears.

Both units have been gigged and do have some scratches etc but nothing major. Someone thought it would be a good idea to write on the Pm16 with a marker but I'm hoping that will come off. Might not though.

I'm not sure if the built in wireless signal works or not. When I bought the desk, I was told it was working but the antenna had recently been damaged and a new replacement was supplied. I can't get the wireless to work but the the replacement antenna is definitely not the correct one. It may just need the correct antenna?  For live, I've been using a BT Hub router that I will include in the sale. I'd much rather use a router anyway and avoid any drop outs.

iPad 4 included to control the desk. Not much to write home about but does the job.  Altogether a nice little setup.

    Any questions please ask.

Cash is good but may trade / PX. Bass. MB 8ohm cab (possibly combo). Mac? Studio gear. Try me with anything really.

Collection and demo would be ideal but will pack it all up for postage if buyer arranges their own courier and insurance etc.

Will sort some pics out tomorrow.

  8. Been on hold for a while as I noticed a bit of an odd crackle (not much but annoying). All sorted now though. Turns out there was nothing wrong with it 😂 After reorganising my home studio equipment, the noise has gone. It never happened at rehearsals either, only in my home studio.

Fabulous and famous Trace Elliot bone crushing silly loud 280w head. Hybrid valve - solid state. All in great shape in a carpeted sleeve. This can be removed and the amp can be racked (you'd need the rack ears though. I had it racked using a rack shelf) All works as it should. Only up for sale as I need a lightweight spare. This is far too good to be kept as a spare too.

Px or trade for a light weight bass head. MB, Elf, Gnome etc. Try me with anything music related. You never know.

Collection much preferred from BB22SH or a courier can be arranged by the buyer at their own cost and risk. It will be well packaged though.

  9. It’s not refinished. It’s all stock. I owned it for about 10 years and it’s the best P bass I’ve ever owned (and I’ve had many). I’ve seen more than one of these in white and I’ve also had this one stripped down with absolutely no visible sign of a re-fin. It is an absolute gem. They are quite rare to find in white but do exist. I believe there is also a 32” scale JV in white too.

More than one BC’er has played on this at mine and all were highly impressed with it’s quality and playability. It pisssed all over my 79 USA. Any buyer will be very pleased! GLWTS.
