1. Hi all. I need some help. I have recently been offered my first Upright gig on the 4th Feb which miraculously enough is with a well known "name" in the music world. Unfortunately the Bass Max pickup that I ordered from JP Guitars hasnt turned up. Jon at JP posted the pickup (his last one)on the 18th by Royal Mail 1st class recorded which I naively chose thinking that over 2 weeks would be enough time. Ive been in the States till today so can only chase up the mail on Monday. If they have lost it I am well and truly scuppered as this opportunity will not come round again and it could lead to other things.

Cutting to the chase is there any kind soul in the South that would be willing to lend/hire me a wing insert pickup or easily fitted under bridge (Realist). Preferably Bass Max but any other easily fitted pickup would work. I know its a big ask but it would be very much appreciated.
I live in Reading and would be able to collect from a wide area if anyone could help. Hopefully the Bass Max will turn up next week but as its been 10 days already and I could have walked to Bristol and back to get it, I am not very confident.

    Thanks for your time

    Cheers

  2. Hi all. Just got my first DB and I need to fit a pickup. My plan is to get the pickup that the previous owner used (and was happy with) which is a Realist and run it through a ToneBone BassBone to a GB Shuttle 6 with either a 210T or a 112Neox. I have 2 questions that I would like to pick your collective brains about. The first is simply, will this path work.I believe that the Realist doesnt require a V high input Piezo specific pre amp and to be honest, I could do without buying a pre amp so Im hoping Ive got the gear already.
The second is does anyone have a Realist that they would like to sell. I would like to be able to get gig ready as soon as I can. Thanks in advance, and apologies if the second is a Wanted Item.

    Cheers

  3. I bought ILJs DB today and spent a very pleasant time chatting, asking questions and soaking up all the advice he had to give. A thoroughly personable, likeable bloke and a seemless transaction. Great to do business with. Highly recommended.

  4.
For sale, due to unemployment, late 90's Trace GP1215 SMX combo. 300w, 1 x 15 speaker. 12 band EQ, dual compressor, valve preamp. Loud enough for any gig I've ever done and a bit more besides and absolutely superb for recording. Comes complete with Trace 1158 1 x 15 cab. Good condition, serviced and cleaned last year.
£400 the pair. The pic attached is one i found on the internet, my amp isn't as scruffy as this :-)
Can you post some pictures please as I have a mate who is interested.

    Cheers

  5. So sorry to hear this tragic news. Though I never met Si, I appreciated his knowledge and had a couple of nice PM exchanges when we were starting out on the Stagg. My thoughts to his family and friends. A sad loss indeed.

  6.
This will be my first real gig since major prostate surgery last summer - yes almost a year without gigging. How have I survived?

Loxwood Beer Festival is an annual event with 9 bands from 2:00pm until 11:pm. Plenty of real ale and great food plus loads to do for the children. Usually a large crowd and as the weather is looking good it should be a great day.

We're on at 7:00pm but we will be there all day running the stage and PA and we just might creep back on stage for the finale with Throbbin' Hood.

Loxwood is between Guildford and Hosham, just inside Sussex.

Hi Dave. Great news that youre back in the saddle (so to speak). I would come down to see you but Im otherwise engaged unfortunately. Have a great time and say hi to all esp Dickie and Nick if they make it.

  7. I am loving this thread. Got to say the talent in these 3 pages has put me to shame but Im in all the same. I play bass with Groove Connection, a 5 sometimes 6 piece Soul/Funk/Motown covers band based in and around the Bracknell/Basingstoke/Reading/Guildford area. We gig the pubs and clubs around the M4 corridor. Ive been with them for nearly a year now. Our Myspace is not too accomplished at the minute and our demos are protools not studio, but we can put a groove out ,have a blast and we always get re booked. 8. Im a bit late to this party tho I did see the original "bad news thread". I am absolutely amazed at the outcome. Big props to the mods for fielding this. Thats real dedication in action. Also congratulations to all that donated or were about to. That selfless trusting approach is precious and should never be discouraged. This would be a better place if there were more people like you around. Nuff Said

  9. There are a few, some free but you tend to get what you pay for. I have Fretboard Lite (free) good for scales and chords in different tunings, Guitar Toolkit which is cool but costs (its a tuner, metronome,Chords and scales with audio and covers a multitude of instruments inc Banjo and Ukelele. Another couple you might like to look at are Four Track (Recording desk. Pretty cool app) and Heartbreaker drum machine (not got to grips with that yet). Enjoy
