Is the Les Paul still for sale
Brian
It is indeed...

I just sold my DR 550 to Kevin.
Super easy transaction; prompt replies to messages and super quick payment.
As everyone else has said above, a top man and a pleasure to deal with!

This is being listed on GuitarChat as well as on here....
An immaculate Zoom G5 multi-fx pedal. This thing does it all; effects, amp and cab sims, DI out, looper, rhythm machine, USB audio interface - and that funky multi-way Z pedal that gives you expression control of two effects simultaneously.
There’s a ton of stuff on the web about these units so I won’t repeat it here other than to say that they’re built like tanks, really flexible and easy to use.
Mine is boxed and complete with power unit. I should have the manual for it but if I don’t then it’s downloadable from the Zoom website.
I’m in Cleethorpes if you want to audition and collect or able to meet within a reasonable radius of sunny Cleethorpes for one of those dodgy-looking car park meets - all socially distanced, of course. Or happy to ship within the UK for an extra £10. PM me to discuss options.
I’m not really looking for trades at the moment unless you happen to have a nice Cort B5 five string and would take the Zoom in (part) payment.
Some pics...

Now sold.
I bought this from a fellow BCer last year as a backup/rehearsal amp but the arrival of a GK Fusion S means that something else has to go and it’s the little Aggie.
I’ve been really impressed with the power and tone of this little amp - it sounds fantastic through my Barefaced One10 (and even better through two of them!).
I’ve only used it at rehearsals and I don’t think the volume’s ever been above half way - this thing is surprisingly grunty for such a small amp.
I also like the Drive feature. It’s easy to dial in just a little (or a lot if that’s your thing) grit which makes my Sandberg sound lovely.
The amp is in excellent condition and the gig bag is pretty good apart from a split in the hand grip part of each of the two handles (which is as it came to me).
No trades needed at the moment thanks (unless you have a Cort B5 five string you want to get rid of) and the price includes postage in the UK.
Thanks for looking - please PM if you have any questions

At the risk of being stoned to death I have decided that in my opinion I find Precision and Jazz basses really boring I'm not saying that I think they are rubbish just boring who agrees and what basses do you guys think are boring
Any bass can be boring just as any song can be boring.
It all depends on context.
Playing Mustang Sally to three blokes, a landlord and the pub dog is boring whatever the instrument.
Playing Mustang Sally to a crowded pub at the end of the best set you’ve ever played to punters who are all having the time of their lives and singing at the tops of their voice is one of those life-affirming moments that is not diminished by a Sunburst P with a tort’ guard.

So does it have to be BEAD? Can it not be drop C, like queens of the stoneage stuff? Like everything down a tone, and then the bottom string down another?
I suppose it could be but the problem I have with this (and with drop D) is that it alters the relationship between the notes across the strings and my little brain can’t cope with change like that at my advanced age. It expects that, whatever note I play, the fifth, fourth, sixth - all the other notes of the scale - are in specific places in relation to to it. Downtune a string and those relationships go out of the window and I am left floundering.
So, for me with, my limitations, tuning to drop anything is just not an option.

Good man. An Ibby or a Yammy? Hmmm...not going to find me objecting: that's 50% of my herd, right there!
I think I’ve read just about every post you’ve made about them while I’ve been looking at the options and whittling down a short list so Thank You! 😁
One thing I’m still curious about - are the necks the same size/profile on the BB and TRBX? Specs seem similar but I’m getting the impression that the TRBXs are a little lighter than the BBs?

Swift update.
BEAD stringing is brilliant!
I had to tweak the action a little but I’m really pleased.
However....
This thread has reignited my GAS for a five string and - taking all the input on board - I think I’m going to try a nice, light, (and cheap) 34” scale fiver. At the moment it’s a toss up between an entry-levelish Ibby of some sort or (slightly wider spacing) a Yamaha TRBX305.
(Looks wise, I absolutely love the Yam TRBX605 in red burst but I must be strong and stick to the budget).
So... basses are going to be sold to make room in the rack and as soon as they’ve gone I’m off to Gear4Music in York to have a noodle on theirs before I hand over any cash. I know, it’s an unusual approach but I should try it at least once, right?
In the meantime, I can carry on having fun with BEAD tuning.
Thanks everyone for their inputs!

One for the retro fans...
Launched in 1992, this is the MkII version of the DR-550.
It’s in excellent, fully working condition and although I no longer have the power supply, I do have the original manual and preset patterns list.
More info here; https://www.synthmania.com/dr-550mkii.htm
Price includes postage within the UK.

What page turner do you use? I've been looking at the AirTurn doohickey, but I'm not sure I can justify the cost...
The Donner page turner from Amazon. Dead simple to use - the only thing that confuses me is that the iPad sees it as a keyboard so you can’t type anything while the page turner is connected, I always forget this and spend five minutes trying to work out when the iPad won’t allow me to type anything.
I think all turners are the same in this respect and, frankly, it’s more a reflection on my slow-wittedness....

Another happy ForScore user here- I use an iPad with a Hercules attachment for a mic stand and it’s been brilliant and surprisingly discreet.
Same setup here plus I have a bluetooth page turner.

We’ve got our first rehearsal in ages tonight. There’s no real prospect of gigging for a while but I can’t wait to just get together and play.

Sold
Up for sale is my little Gretsch short-scale bass.
It’s a lovely bass with a really nice, fat tone. I’ve currently got it strung with Chromes but I think I have the original rounds somewhere if preferred.
I got it at the start of last year because I needed something small and light as I was going to rehearsals in a Mazda MX5. The car’s now gone and so I just don’t use the bass any more. It’s too nice to be unused like this and so...
There isn’t a blemish on it anywhere.
It’s pictured with Fender straplocks but they’ll be coming off and the original strap buttons replaced.
I’d prefer to meet up if possible- I’m in sunny Cleethorpes but travel down the A1 regularly so PM me to discuss meet/delivery options.
Trades - the only thing I might be interested in is a lightweight, slim-necked 5 string but I’m open to suggestions so PM and let’s see
Thanks for looking, here’s the pics....

Mildred my dear, or may I call you Skinnybabes? Anyway, I see you've listed your Magellan (you'll regret that) and are now DI'ing into the PA. I'm going to suggest that you bin the idea of a 5 string altogether and get something like a Helix Stomp instead
George, darling, I thought we’d agreed that the George and Mildred soubriquets were only to be used on those ‘special’ evenings that, sadly, have been stolen from since this cursed corona wotsit forced us all into lockdown?
But you make a good point - our guitar chap has both a Helix and, er, the other one - can’t remember it’s name, not a kemper anyway - and he really likes them.
So now I have a quandary.
Option one. Play songs in such a way that a fiver is not needed.
Option two. Retune one of the less-used basses in the stable to BEAD and hope there’s no need to climb up to the G string (oo-er, missus).
Option three. By an inexpensive fiver with narrower string spacing to see if that works.
Option four. Get a fancy floor unit such as Osiris describes and pitch shift the problem away.
Option five. All of the above in stages over the next few months.
Given my propensity for GAS (which has kept many BC members furnished with high-quality, barely-used basses and amps at knock-down prices for several years now), I think we can all see where this is going to end up, can’t we boys and girls?

could have been totally legit. For eBay I'd probably give it a miss, but on here, having only good experiences, personally I'd have taken the buyers feedback as a reference.
It’s not clear from the OP whether the buyer was a BC member or not - I assumed it was a sale outside of BC.
I’m with you in that my trust levels are much higher when dealing with established members of the BC community.

Just a suggestion SM ,before you buy another 5, why not detune to BEAD and see how you get on 🙂
That’s exactly what I plan to do, Reg. I tried to do it yesterday but Mrs S had plans.
But I must admit that this discussion has given me GAS again. Before I act on it though, I have to sell something to make some room - I’m trying to follow a strict one in, one out policy.
And while I’m waiting, I’m going to try the BEAD thing

ON HOLD, PENDING
Re-listing now that lockdown is over!
I bought this new from Bass Direct last summer but since then we've moved away from a traditional backline and i now DI into the PA system.
As a result, I'm downsizing my rig. The Bergantino 12's have gone and I'm not giving this brilliant amp the use it deserves and so it should go too.
Condition is mint. I've used it at home a few times and it's been to a couple of rehearsals and one gig.
I have the box and all the instructions, mains lead, etc so it will be repackaged as it came to me.
I'm not really looking for trades but I'm open to ideas so let me know what you've got and I'll consider it.
A lightweight, inexpensive 5 string with a slender neck (along the lines of an Ibby SR) might be tempting if I haven’t already sourced one....
I come down to London on a fairly regular basis so I can meet up anywhere along the A1 from Leeds down....
Or you're welcome to drop in to Skinny Towers besides the seaside and try it out for yourself. The kettles always on.
I would prefer collection or one of those shady-looking meets in a pub car park somewhere but I can courier if required (UK mainland only) to established BC members.
The Magellan has a great reputation but for those who aren't familiar with it, here's the specs and pictures.

Aargh! Choices, choices!
My usual approach to this sort of quandary would be to get one of each but this time, I tell myself, I will be strong.
Instead, I will see this as an opportunity to calmly and rationally consider a number of alternatives before I make a calm and rational purchasing decision*. I will weigh up all of the pros and cons of the various candidates and when a suitable buying opportunity presents itself either in the used marketplace or new, I shall be an informed buyer, able calmly and rationally to choose the best bass for my requirements.
Thank you all for your suggestions....

Yeah, you can often pick one up in vgc and less than a couple of years old for 30% to 40% discount to new.
Very decent active EQ (although some folk prefer just to play them in passive, which is also an option) : 3 band plus variable mid EQ selector switch. And personally I would go for a Premium with their juicy Nord Big Singles over the Standard range every time - but then I like my basses to growl!
I’m loathe to spend a lot on another five string that I may well end up selling (again!) but the GIO GSR205 looks decent for not a lot of money. There’s something about the orange metallic that keeps calling me. I’m sure the premium range is a much better bass but it’s also a lot more money and I’m really not sure I can justify it. I’d rejected a lot of entry-level fives because of the weight and the neck width but the Ibbys all seem to have the 16.5mm spacing.
The hunt is on....
