2. Put Labella LTFs on my Sadowsky Modern 5 and it sounds awesome with mutes on the nut and at the bridge. I can even get a decent slap tone which I use sparingly in the R&B band I'm in. I was very impressed with the B string. Flats are an acquired taste if you have been a rounds user forever but I'm finding they work well with the band I'm in now.
3. Being a hardcore rounds user, I just put a set of Labella LT flats on my Sadowsky Modern 5 and I'm digging the tone and the feel. My main concern was the B string in regards to getting some definition and playability up higher on the neck, but so far I am adjusting quite nicely.
4. I'm also anxiously awaiting the Nicolas' Signature Piastro set as a "must have" too (call me a string junkie cause now I'm itchin' for the Gut-a-likes). Although my set-up with the Dominat Solo E, Superior Bassworks Tri-Core A and Gamut Pistoy D&E will be tought to beat. Also had the Cordes Lambert Twin 47 set on before that with good results (especially the E, it was incredible) and Innovation SilverSlaps before that. Enjoyed your youtube Paul with the Twin 47s, I have the same wish. Really dig Nicolas' sound but also crave getting the tone Mark Winchester gets with Setzer. But of course, it most certainly is above my pay scale;-) Cheers!
5. Anyone tried the G-Lab Wowee Bass Wah RWW-1 from Poland? G-Labs also has a true bypass pad that can be used with other wahs.
6.
I had a very similar problem a few years back. It was on my A string. I adjusted what I could but it still kept coming back from time to time, really annoying. I bought new strings and fitted them and still the problem remained. In the end I checked everything I could think of and it still kept buzzing so I swapped the D and A strings to eliminate it being a string problem. The buzz now had moved with the string. Anyone want two sets of Rotosound strings with a buzzing A? I've been told that it was quite common with Rotosounds for the core to separate from the winding! Strange that it was the A string both times. I don't use Rotosound anymore and have never had the problem again! Graham
I've also noticed this with the Rotosound Swing Bass set on fretless. Thought it was a buzzing on the fingerboard or truss rod but finally realized it had to be the core of the string buzzing on the windings or vice versa. It is only obvious when played unplugged so I hesitate to call the strings defective and not obvious when an open string is played. However when amplified the strings sound fine (not all the strings exhibit this and I've had other sets of Roto's do this on occasion) this buzz is not part of the amplified sound, which is why it is a strange phenomena. Funny to hear someone say it is quite common with Rotosounds as I really don't wish to change.
7. Where can you purchase (from a reputable source) a Blueberry overdrive pedal? Any assistance appreciated
8. Asking for some help...I will be in the Camberley area next week and was hoping to find a music store that would have the BJFE Blueberry (Overdrive Effect Pedal from Sweden) in stock. Anyone know where I could score one of these pedals during my visit to the UK? Thanks for any assistance. --Tom
9. Thanks for the quick reply. If I can use the Dual pedal with the solid state preamp as just an overdrive pedal that would be just fine. I'm sure there a cheaper and smaller alternatives (I'm very much into small and lightweight these days) but I'm crazy about being able to swap values and make comparisons. My actual application is basically wanting to step on a pedal and get close to Felix Pappalardi's recorded tone (not his live tone) without having to use a Gibson bass with a Sunn stack. I'm thinking the VT2 is just what the doctor ordered!
10. Looking for a warmer tube tone for my sound and have become interested in the DHA pedals. I'm considering the dual tube as it seems to have more overdrive capability. I was hoping that someone may have experience using the VT2 Dual Bass either as an overdrive pedal into a preamp (Acoustic 360 clone) or as the preamp right into the Bergantino IP112. Thanks for any assistance. Cheers, --Tom
11. Posted by themoo There are a few things but the top 2 are... 1/ The gap between the strings and the body. I much prefer the smaller gap like the old Series II's and my Alembic MK sig! 2/ A chamfered top edge above the bridge area as this digs into my forearm. Hey, point 2 is something I've wondered about for awhile with my S-2. Has there been any discussions on how to resolve this?
