Don't ask me how, but from one of the tuners, the plated cap with the 'A' on it seems missing. As you can see how it should look this picture: Nothing wrong with the mechanism, and will ask Alembic if I can buy a new cap for it. But in the meantime will lower the price in such a way it will pay for an brand new tuner and some more (although, it is offcourse an Alembic tuner!)

Updated 9 november: No longer for sale! Alot of on holds, and interest, but it seems it just doesn't sell. So I decided I will keep it for a while. I recently bought this in a nostalgic mood, because I used an Alembic Orion 5 when I started playing (semi) pro more than ten years ago. These are amazing basses, very versatile. play very fast, and looks are amazing. Since then I moved on to Fender type basses, but couldn't pass this one up when I saw if for sale for a good price a few weeks ago. This is a very special Orion with the crown headstock, purpleheart neck laminates, oval inlays. Previous owner bought some brass plates for the battery and trussrod. Looks really nice. Original plastic plates (like in the pictures from the link are included.) This is a later build Orion (from 2005), so with purpleheart bodylaminates and the much nicer high gloss finish (instead of what they used in the nineties and early 2000's on the Orion, Excel, and Epic models). This bass is in very good shape, with just some small dents. Comes in a nice case. Here is a link to the Alembic forum, where a previous owner made some amazing photo's of this bass: http://alembic.com/c...html?1196369949

This bass is sold, pending payement. Very nice bass, in great condition. Bought this one recently, but I'm not an unlined fretless player. There used to be a extra toneknob, but this has been restored by bass shop Bassmatters in The Netherlands. www.bassmatters.nl Comes with a nice case, and D-tuner. (original included.). Good condition. Some normal wear, but the fretboard looks very good. Price (firm): 2300,- euro's/ 1900,- GBP euro's ex. shiping. That is about 1000,- less than you would pay with a shop! Will consider partitial trades for an amp or cabinet. 112/ 210 etc. Bergantino, Aguilar, Genz Benz, or an Electric Upright. But prefer a straight sale. (picture from the previous owner, a real pre-EB collector)

Pictures will be made and send to the several interested people this weekend. It is correct, that it is harder to proof that the body is original compared to all the other parts on this bass (neck, hardware, pickups, scratchplatel). I bought it from an expert (who had two 1960 jazz basses), and showed me the details of the body. I forgot the exact details, cause I'm a player than a collector (although I owned alot of pre-cbs fender, so I know fake from real). It gave me all the proof I needed with the correct nailholes etc. But the most important reason I eventually bought this bass, was that is the best bass I ever played. Everybody has to make up his mind about this bass. ( bought the seller (see post #1) and from the people contacting me about this instrument, it seems more people do. The notification about being careful with buying vintage is appreciated, and should be remembered by anyone who is interested in vintage instruments Thanks!

It had a '59 burst re-finish when I bought it, so you could see the grain. I opted for a see through white finish, because that is the original colour. But the very old burst poly re-finish, left some black in the body, that would be seen, with a see through finish, so I chose sonic blue, my favorite custom Fender colour. An Ash body is more rare, so that's kind of a nice bonus!
