Crud - it's because I play along to a clip of a Chilli Peppers tune. I will see if there's a way round this and try and get the beggar playing again.

    Sorry about that :-(

Thank, s man, I'm intrigued after the other comments. I read this forum on my tablet, its great

  2. Hi I just got myself an epiphone hummingbird ltd in natural, it originaly came with 12 gauge strings but previous owner changed to 10 s he didnt have a set up , im wanting to put new strings on, it seems to play ok and intonation seems ok, do you think I should put new 10s on or go back to 12s ? My setup guy is outta town and after xmas im a bit stretched cashwise, if I change the strings I will do them one at a time so it is not a sudden change on neck tension. Cheers paul

  3. I have the bg250 , combos seem to work out cheaper as the micro head is about same price as a combo plus you have to pay the same again for a speaker cabinet I would have liked a tc gk or ampeg pf but they cost more than the £ 269 I paid for a brand new bg250 which has got great writeuos in 2 threads on talkbass for what the iriginal poster required

  4. I got my old model BG250 for £269 from absolute music and before I bought it I joined their VIP club for the 3 year warranty. I was not bothered too much about the toneprint I just wanted a reasonable light weight amp that would hold up with a drummer and guitars for jamming. That said I loaded the spectracomp toneprint to replace the chorus with no worries straight outta the box, its been on all afternoon with me playing Bass or running my ipod through it while busy, thought I would give it a soak test. Im very pleased so far just need to find some people now who share my taste for classic rock and 80s hair metal who can stand my root note plonkings. yeah the 2 x 8 looks interesting haha. no more GAS for me now am selling bits and pieces and saving for my xmas present an epiphone hummingbird acoustic. happy day though with my new bg 250

  5. Hi I just ordered a brand new TC electronics BG250, read lots of good stuff about them, been saving up for ages for a new amp, so am hoping this will last me a fair while, I like to play hair metal/classic rock, eg reckless love, aersosmith Ratt , guns n roses , van halen etc.

It should arrive tomorrow, will not be able to test it out properly as I live in a quiet residential area in a coach house split into 5 flats.
I knew there were some teething troubles with a few at first, the guy in the shop said they had sold about 125 and only had about five back and they were in the early numbers like 3, 4, and 5 and the last one they sold that was returned was the 25th so the later stock should all be ok.

It is the best I could afford on my budget and quite useful in its size and weight as I have no car etc.
should be fun, by the way the footswitch which I havent bought yet is the tc switch 3 but apparently the digitech fs 300 will work as well.

    The new BG250 model has just come out , alongside a host of other 250 models which are I think a 2 x8 a 2 x 10 and a 1 x 12.
The new bg 250 1 x 15 like i have bought looks the same except it has 2 white knobs in the middle of the controls which control the new toneprint effects, yes there are two yes "2" tone print slots on the new version. I was not particularly bothered about this I just wanted a decent lightweight amp that would be able to stand its own with a drummer and guitarists and from threads I read on this and other forums, it should do the job.

All I have got to do now is find somebody to jam with haha a lot of the stuff I play is usually root notes or foowing the guitar riffs.

    have a good day all.

  6. I had some er 20s they were very effective when seeing I live metal band called warhead earlier this year, who have 3 guitarists and play very loud, I was able to stand at the front near the pa and headbang away, they played very loud in a small space, lost the plugs recently so gotta get more

Listen to radio 4 podcasts via headphones is my trick. It stops me thinking about stuff. I never remember falling asleep or even feeling tired, but just wake up several hours later.

And Formula one after a big sunday dinner is guaranteed to send me into a coma.
[/quote]radio 5 here, I listen to Dr karl science hour, else my brain worries continuously
