1. Similar story here. Shoulder/neck issues plus arthritis in my thumb joints. The joy of getting old! I bought a strandberg Boden 4 this time last year and love it; great sound and super light at 6lbs. during lockdown I bought a hofner ignition club bass, very light and ok to play. I have upgraded the machine heads as I read comments about them failing, also put some decent ‘Beatles’ strings on. For the money it’s good. haven’t played it at volume yet so I don’t know if the semi hollow body will give feedback issues.
2. Just realised it’s the chb-1, think I’d rather have the longer scale chb-2
3.
Agreed - it's a damn big investment! Would defo like to try these LDs. We should have an IEM geek meet!
Have you ever tried the AKG IVM4500? I have one but I'm not really happy with it.
4. yup that's the cable I use when I'm wired. Great job, nice and flexible (wired as in cabled
5. Takes an aux or monitor feed from your desk to the P1, or there's also a very nice fischer headphone amp (probably the one behringer copied?)
6.
that's a good idea - power injector would tidy up the area. I don't use the dsp on the AKG as on the previous model I found it added strange noises sometimes. Haven't tried it since I upgraded to the current model (due to licensing changes on frequencies) I'm trying to keep hardware boxes to a minimum, so i don't use the AKG when I have the ME-1. The AKG receiver is just another box I need to put somewhere. I guess I could devise a box that houses the AKG receiver and the ME-1, but it would end up quite heavy and i mount the ME-1 on my mic stand.
Sorry, meant the AKG transmitter is just another box I need to put somkewhere.....

8. Good to know you've joined the in-ear team, you won't regret it. I've been using the ACS Live customs for a couple of months (now called the Evolve Live) and they're great. I like the fact that I can hear people talking to me on stage, and I leave them in for the interval but just turn the local volume up a bit. I can filter out the noisy juke box during the interval too Before that I was using Shure SE524, which also worked really well. Normally I'm wired as I have a QU-16 with a ME-1 personal monitor. Still trying to work out the best way to make the wiring tidy. I also have an AKG IVM 4500 which I use when PA is provided by others. Does anyone have any experience of the AKG? I wondered how it compares to the EW300-IEM-G3? Cheers Martin
9. Yeah, got that thanks. Good idea re covering the me1 mic, hadn't'the thought of that. Just me with in-ears at the moment, although I'm trying to convince the singer he needs it. When I play without in-ears he keeps asking for his monitor to be turned up through the gig, to the point wher it often hurts my ears. Not good for his hearing.
10. Yes, I understood how the live pack works. Didn't realise it was a dry mix from the desk though. Thanks for the advice, much appreciated. The way I work currently is to have these feeds from the desk Vocals Lead guitar Kick, snare plus an overhead ambient mic. I guess I'm replacing the ambient mic with the live pack. The ME1 has a mono ambient mic, but if I have to keep the level very low as it distorts as soon as the band plays if I'm not careful! I'm hoping the live pack will allow me to hear what's going on between songs - important if the band changes the set order 😄 Will certainly post updates. Cheers Martin
11. Took the plunge yesterday and ordered T1 Live with the live pack. I've been using Shure 425's which give a great sound, but I don't like the isolated feeling on stage. Hopefully the T1 lives will sort that for me. Andy at ACS demonstrated with a pair using ear buds - very impressive. Should have them by the end of Jan, looking forward to trying them out. Only slight concern is that Andy took a mouth closed impression and I do sing backing vocals. Just spoke to Richard at ACS - he said if I have a problem with fit during the first 30 days they will remake. Russ - with the live pack, do you still have a full band mix in your monitors? I'm wondering if I can just add a bit of bass and the kick drum. Re our conversation on the QU16 and ME1, I now have channel naming which is sent through to the ME1; A&H defintiely listen to their users! Cheers Martin
12. The MEU is VERY pricey although it does provide channel naming for the ME1. Yes currently using a wall wart, Poe would be good but only if cheap! Let me know how you get on
13. Naming on the screen would be good. I think you can now name channels on the latest ipad app. Also channel links are not sent to the ME1. The reply I got suggested that channel naming and stero link info might be coming.
14.
Here you go http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wVV72uhPNIQ
Nice!
15. A&H have replied - there's a global option in the routing screen to select pre or post fader for the digital outputs - sorted!
16. I'm on the latest firmware, they seem to release one almost every month. Always liked A&H, great gear. Had a presonus for a while but the QU16 is much nicer to use. I'll read the manual to try to resolve pre/post fader. Found it for the mix outs but not digital out yet. There's a lot of requests oft channel naming on the QU16, so hopefully that will arrive. Cheers Martin
17. Yeah, love the ME1. Using it wired, I've bought a long 3.5mm jack lead and I intend to spiral wrap it with the guitar lead so being hard wired will be fine. Only slight issues I'm having with the QU16 are: Me1 feed is post fader, can't work out how to make it pre. Linked pairs on QU16 aren't linked on ME1 Can't name channels within a group on ME1 I'm hoping the last 2 will be resolved in firmware upgrades, and the first one is because I haven't read the manual thoroughly! Sorry OP, that was a bit of a hijack! Thanks for the advice on ear buds, I'll look into both those. Cheers Martin
18. I'm using an A&H QU16 with ME1 - only 1 gig with it but it seems great. Could do with some ear bud advice. I used some AKG buds (IP1 I think) that came with the AKG wireless item. Sound was fine, but way too much bleed. I had to have the level hi to get over the bleed. I have some ACS custom plugs and I bought their entry level earbuds to use with the custom plugs. Can't get a reliable seal with them, so I get deafened when the seal breaks! What ear buds would you guys recommend that give a decent ambient attenuation, and decent sound. Could spend up to £200 Cheers Martin
19. Hi We are currently a 3 piece blues/rock band (until the keyboard player comes on board) looking for a lead guitar. Visit www.SlowJin.co.uk to hear what we are about. Anyone interested? Actually we'll consider playing any song that we all like, as longs we it's a good'un. We don't play Mustang Sally ! Cheers Martin
20. and it looks like we have a keyboard player!
