I have a red nylon one on my Precision and a black leather one on my Ibanez shorty.

I had the Pirate experience last week for the first time. The bass amp sounded like a jam jar full of wasps. I set it flat and applied small tweaks to EQ over a few songs before finally settling for... a jam jar full of wasps. It was horrible. I think you have 20 minutes from the booking start time to contact the mother ship to register a complaint so I'll try that tomorrow. Fortunately we'll be back in our regular studio from next week.

As well as everything mentioned previously, the key change function is a great feature.

We used to have an agent whose idea of promotion was a pre-printed poster template with the band/gig details added in marker pen. Occasionally it was red marker rather than black. 🤣
And occasionally even legible. It always annoys me when the scribble isn't centred in the space

Am I correct in assuming that tablets are held in less distain than music stands by the BC collective?
I sing a lot of lead in one band and learn the words and get on with it. My other band has asked me to consider covering more lead vocal when the current singer leaves next month. I don't want to be staring at a screen all gig and it's just for a quick glance to know where we are in the song.
What should I buy as far as minimum size of screen goes?

Played two gigs this weekend.
First was with my brother in laws Blues band on Friday. His usual bassist was off to play in his other band, who were supporting The Damned down in London
Chris Agnew from the mighty Rezillos?

That's nice and colourful, all you need to do on top of that is light the band in white from the front.
It's the one thing nearly everyone forgets to do.
Add some plain white light to light up the band members and the colours will still work great at the back.
Definitely the thing to do to make the colours pop. We use 4 DMX fixtures each side and keep 1 on each bar set white aimed across the line where the mics are. Leave the remaining 6 units to provide the interesting stuff. Simple and effective.

Buy or listen to Canned Heats greatest hits. Larry Taylor is all you'll ever need to listen to. A Blues bass masterclass.

What band was it ?
No comment on the venue name or is that the band name. The Pink Torpedoes
Dave
Damn profanity filter. The venue was The Cockerel without the erel at the end.
I was there with Used Blues

Where's the gig today?
Sorry, late in reading this. It was at The pink torpedo. Insert joke here.

Just had my post gig cheese on toast.
Three dep gigs yesterday (9th) all on drums after a 13 year hiatus. First, 2-3pm in the afternoon, very nervous. Second, 6-7pm, really enjoyed it and went down well.
Last on, 10pm - midnight. Absolutely knackered afterwards.
All three with same band at the Dereham blues festival.
Probably wouldn't do it again however, a good experience.
I played on the platform of the old railway station at the same festival last night. A good setting but if you ever play it do not play a single note after 11pm or the woman in charge will go of her head spouting licensing issues. We had one verse and chorus to finish.
Now awake and showered on Sunday for a 12 noon gig.

There are a few Ashdown covers in stock for £58.
I bought a cover for a Markbass amp from them. Good quality and excellent service.
Based in Lanarkshire.

Yes at Glasgow.
The support act was Roger Dean himself with a slide show of his work over the decades.
Borderline tedious. Never let a deaf man from southern England conduct a Q&A session with a hall full of Scottish people.

I play most of my gigs in Scotland. The temperature varies from day to day. T shirt yesterday, fur lined jacket today.

Yes in Glasgow on Wednesday. Haven't heard anything of them since my school days in the 1970s

Jim Lea from Slade was pretty tasty as well!
My favourite player to this day and a demon live performer. For such a quiet man.

Saturday's gig was in a very professionally set up marquee at a holiday camp from 3pm - 6pm
1st set was pretty busy but the marquee emptied at 5pm when we began to smell the whiff of BBQ fuel as lots of people hopped it to get the dinner ready. Troopers that we are we played through till 6pm when lots of people came in to tell us they'd been sitting outside in the sunshine and loved the band.
A strange day.
We've been asked back to play a night time slot at their Sept festival so we must have done something right.

I'd rather not say.
The pay was good but I'm just looking forward to Friday and Saturday which are bound to be better. Onwards and upwards.
