1. I think its worth buying good quality cabs which sound great over a better quality amp and average cabs. If you have an amazing head but some really cheaply made and nasty cabs, then then you are not getting the full potential out of your amplifier. Cheaply made cabs have speakers in them which offer a lumpy frequency response which will affect your overall sound. The actual cabinet enclosure itself too will also affect you sound, this includes to wood its made out off, the size of the ports and the amount of and quality sound proofing packed into all the dead spots of the box. Once again as stated previously, only one person can decide upon which brand to go for and that is yourself.
2. I have used a peavy fire bass at pretty much every rehearsal studio i have been too (probably testament to how rock solid they are) and they sound great for metal or heavier stuff. Sansamp is also a great idea. I think i read somewhere that the bass player from Killswitch Engage has his own one and that he sets the EQ on every rented head they use on tour flat so he can adjust his tone via the Sansamp so he can get a consistent sound.
3. Is it only the tubes which need replacing in it? Are there any other problems with the Mesa Big Block? Did you get it new in April 2008?
4. Someone better buy nig's G&L then as well!
5.
Id have this bass in no time if I could shift my Streamer Stage I.
Someone better buy BassKS's Warwick then!
6. Just to clarify, im not 100% sure if i can call the fretboard birdseye maple but its definitely figured in a nice way.
7. This is a MINT condition EBMM Stingray 4 string. It sounds absolutely amazing, really big and full. It was made in 1992. Solid ash body, maple neck and board. Original pickups and bridge mutes. Bass will come with both a hard case and a soft case. Its also just been strung with a new set of d'addario strings. Will accept offers around £800. Trade wise, i would like a 4 string active jazz by any make. I can make a cash adjustment either way. The bass is in Hatfield, Hertfordshire now but i can meet anyone in a London station or in Cambridge on a Monday night. Cheers.
8. I cant see the pic of the Overwater jazz. Is it possible to post it again? Are you interested in any trades?
9. www.myspace.com/chancerivals Got a demo song and a video of us recording the track on our myspace. I recorded all the parts straight into an M-Audio profire 2626 then into my Mac. All the guitar sounds are from "Guitar rig 3," the bass is a 1992 Musicman Stingray with Logic's "Bass amp" making it sound nice. Vocals are recorded with a Shure sm58 without a pop shield (couldn't find the bloody thing!). Put a little bit of reverb and a very short delay to thicken them up. The drums are all multi-sampled kits from battery. Hope you like it. Add us if you want.
10. Yeah i though it might be ash. Are you interested in trades at all?

16. I am also a new convert to D'Addario nickel strings! Got my first set on Monday. I drop tune my stingray and was having tension issues. The low C* was so flappy and horrible even with a set of rotosound's with a gauge of 50-110! I consulted Robbie at RIM custom's about the problem and he sent me through a set of D'Addario nickels with a gauge of 55-110. They feel tight and sound amazing, my definite sting of choice from now on. Cheers Robbie!
